When we move on after introductions for Chardak I would like marching order.

HP 12/17, AC- 15 T- 11 FF- 14 CMD 16 F +7, R +5, W +4, P +8, In +1, AOO +6 Half-Orc Alchemist 2

Nesteruk will go second or third rank.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor of Gorum 2

When the party is ready, Chardak stands on the side of the tracks opposite Jondar. He waits for the cleric to make the first move.

Chardak will assume he's sharing tracking chores with Jondar. First row left or right in the marching order. Since Jondar was doing the tracking Chardak assumes he's just double-checking Jondar. That will let Karthen walk safely behind too. :)

Put Chardak's gear on a spreadsheet last night. Found I had overspent on gear. Please retcon that crossbow in his hand to a spear.

Male Human Cleric/1

Jondar nods to Chardak and walks on the right side of the tracks opposite Chardak. He looks down at the tracks once more to make sure he didn't miss anything and then turns to the rest of the group and asks, "Is everyone ready to resume our search?" and with a nod he resumes following the tracks.

AC 20, FF 19, Touch 12; Hp: 34/57; Saves: Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +7; CMD 24; Perception +11

Behind and to the side and middle of the group. He doesn't want to run people over as he charges bad guys.

Karthan follows the group a little separately simply allowing the scouts to do there work actin his part as the cavalry.

Winter Witch 3

Here's two versions of the marching order, to better understand the order.

(single file version)Front -> back
Chardak -> Jondar-> Nesteruk -> Anna -> Karthan

(2 by 3 version)Front -> back
Chardak -> Nesteruk -> Karthan
Jondar-> Anna

HP 12/17, AC- 15 T- 11 FF- 14 CMD 16 F +7, R +5, W +4, P +8, In +1, AOO +6 Half-Orc Alchemist 2

Go with the second version, i'm as comfortable up front as the other menly men.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor of Gorum 2

Just a nitpick. Jondar claimed the right side so he and Chardak should switch places.

Chardak is just a step behind Jondar. He scans the ground and surrounding area as he walks. Occasionally he looks back along the trail.

"Stay off the tracks," he grunts.

gm 3

Also single file makes my maps be huge And now I know where to put Symas.Moving on as the party follows the tracks. oh dang it I already was working on the map for first encounter.

The tracks continue to follow through the mud. The cold wind wanes down to a gentle but still cold breeze from the same direction. More trees pass by and the party quickly comes to a small gulley on the other side on the other side there are a lot of flies swarming around in an audible buzzing. Ahead in a small clearing there is a horrible smell like that of a corpse. In the clearing the flies are thick and some the bodies of two dead orcs and a chelixan man all of which have an oversized maggotlike creature on them eating the body.

roll initiative

wormlike creatures:

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7

AC 20, FF 19, Touch 12; Hp: 34/57; Saves: Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +7; CMD 24; Perception +11

version 2 works for me. Seriously don't want to trample people that don't deserve it.

Karthan Sternmason wrote:

completely understood.

Winter Witch 3

init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

AC 20, FF 19, Touch 12; Hp: 34/57; Saves: Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +7; CMD 24; Perception +11

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Initiative

Male Human Cleric/1

Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13

HP 12/17, AC- 15 T- 11 FF- 14 CMD 16 F +7, R +5, W +4, P +8, In +1, AOO +6 Half-Orc Alchemist 2

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

For the record i'm happy for GM to roll everyone's initiative, tends to be pretty standard for PbP, along with mass perception checks.

gm 3

Can other people say if they are okay with that in discussion thread thank you as that will save time and make game go faster.

Winter Witch 3

"Tell me, It that a Giant Maggot I'm seeing or, is it just my imagination?"

Male Human Cleric/1

"I've never seen a giant maggot, but if I had to imagine what one looked like, I bet that" Jondar says as he points to the corpse covered in large maggot-like creature "is exactly what one would look like." he finishes as he reaches for his light crossbow across his back. "I'll never get use to the smell of rotting flesh."

Where ever you have Symas works great for me.

Initiative:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Seeing the maggots, Symas' gut reaction is to reach for his short bow. "Well, not exactly what I signed up for. But, at least it'll make for a decent story," he says.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor of Gorum 2

Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Chardak squints at the bodies and creatures and hefts his spear.

GM_wu, that's 3 giant maggots? One for each orc and the dead man? And what's the range to the creatures?

gm 3

Yes that is three giant maggots I will post map now. You are the square with the first letter of your character name on it. And the little gray blocks are the maggots.

Maggot map round 1

init order
Symas
Nesturuk
Chardak
Jondar
Karthan

Maggots
Anna.

Symas NEsteruck Chardak and Jondar are up.

AC 20, FF 19, Touch 12; Hp: 34/57; Saves: Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +7; CMD 24; Perception +11

Good thing I'm last. I think I forgot to make Karthan's stupid horse. *sigh* I'll have ot get it up tomorrow have to work first thign in the morning. Also I politely ask no one gets in karthans charge line. Granted all the maggots might be gone by the time i get to them anyway.

Male Human Cleric/1

Jondar draws the crossbow and then grabs a bolt in his right hand; quickly loading the light crossbow. With grime determination, he takes aim on the giant maggot atop the dead chelixan man and pulls the trigger.

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1

Symas pulls out his shortbow and knocks an arrow. Crouching down he takes careful aim at the maggot straight ahead of him.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 to hit. 1d6 ⇒ 4 damage.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor of Gorum 2

Chardak raises his spear and mentally matches up their foes. The horseman will charge on the right. Jondar and Nesturuk for the middle. Symas, Anna and I on the left. He takes two steps forward before hurling the spear at the leftmost maggot.

Spear 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 2 = 5 .... damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Lol. Typical -- low to hit with high damage. Next time high to hit with low damage. I should warn you guys I can't roll for beans in a fight.

Not actually moving, the steps were mere description. Also, I assumed this was a surprise round and took only an attack action. If it is a full round Chardak will ...

Chardak notes his spear fly high of its target, but wastes no time on regret. He shrugs his pack and sword off his shoulder and shakes the heavy blade free of its bearskin wrapping.

... draw greatsword.

HP 12/17, AC- 15 T- 11 FF- 14 CMD 16 F +7, R +5, W +4, P +8, In +1, AOO +6 Half-Orc Alchemist 2

As we all act i'm 99.99% sure its not a surprise round.

Releasing his greataxe from a downward facing sheath on his back, Nesteruk draws the hefty weapon, moving to B6.

Watch us spill blood in your name Gorum! Nesteruk cries out.

gm 3

not a suprise round so if you only took a standard action you can still use your move action sorry for any confusion.

Winter Witch 3

Anna readies ray of frost for the first maggot that gets (or is) within 25ft of her
Ranged Touch Atk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

gm 3
Anna Bridgette wrote:

[dice=Ranged Touch Atk]1d20+2
[dice=Damage]1d3

Anna just a note on reading ray of frost I am ruling you can use your swift action to use frozen caress when readying it. Oh but the maggots beat your initiative roll Anna.

Winter Witch 3

true, but now the whole round can be done, as I was waiting on the maggots.

gm 3

Jondar's crossbow bolt hits the maggot but seems to deal little damage. Chardaks spear misses wide to the right of the maggot in the center

Left maggot charges nesturuk moving to square B5 as anna ray goes off but the maggot still seems to be finishing its attempt to bite [spoiler=attack]1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d6 ⇒ 3

The other two maggots slither slowly closer to the party as fast as they can but not closing the distance quickly.map comes latter

AC 20, FF 19, Touch 12; Hp: 34/57; Saves: Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +7; CMD 24; Perception +11

Huh just noticed I go before maggots. So sorry. I'll get my horse statted out now.

"Don't call out to our Lord in Iron! SUMMON HIM WITH BATTLE!" As Karthan issues forth a batle cry his lance descends into one of the maggots bolstered by the power of his steed.

Three gorumites in this group? This will be entertaining. :D

Mounted charge maggot in front of me.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
2d8 + 12 ⇒ (5, 8) + 12 = 25

AC 20, FF 19, Touch 12; Hp: 34/57; Saves: Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +7; CMD 24; Perception +11

NVM about the horse I found him on my sheet. Sorry for the stupidity on my part.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor of Gorum 2

Chardak swivels his head toward Nesturuk then Karthan. Gorum has delivered me into the company of heroes.

Smiling the big half-orc charges into the fray.

Charge the maggot on the left unless Nestruk puts it down, in which case charge the center maggot. AC is 15 until next turn.

Greatsword 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 2 = 10 ... damage 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 = 8

gm 3

sorry forgot about karthan turn that changes what the maggots do above descrption of attacks is not retconned.

Karthan's charge skewers the maggot before it falls off after the large impact and massive internal damage.

The maggot in the middle charges Karthan who gets an attack of opportunity. Is it okay if I roll those discuss in discussion thread I will roll it this once but Karthan will very likely hit. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
1d6 ⇒ 6

Karthan's AOO1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

The maggot to the left still charges Nesteruk and misses.

chardak is 5 feet away from the gaint maggot so he cannot charge and his last attack misses.

Anna ray of frost hits the gaint maggot but it is still barely up and fighting.

map round 2 almost over.

edit Karthan AOO killed the maggot before it charged.

HP 12/17, AC- 15 T- 11 FF- 14 CMD 16 F +7, R +5, W +4, P +8, In +1, AOO +6 Half-Orc Alchemist 2

Symas acts before me so i'll see if he finishes it.

gm 3

nevermind Chardak's attack actually hit since that maggot charged.Chardak I will have you take a 5 foot step instead since you are five feet away and your attack hits. The damage on the greatsword should be +3 since you have 14 strenth and wield it two handed so it does plus 1 1/2 strength bonus damage.

Chardak with a swing of the greatsword hits the last injured maggot and it collapses. Combat over.

The two dead orc have spears laying by the sides of them and are consumed by the maggots and wearing suprisingly intact studed leather armor. The chelixan man is gaunt and tall but badly wounded and has a longsword and wooden shiled. still laying by the side of him. and he has a backpack near where he collapsed.

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor of Gorum 2

Without the charge Chardak only has an 8 to hit on that roll. Nice catch on the strength bonus to damage, GM_wu. Thanks.

I was convinced that the maggot charging Nesturuk would end it's turn in B5. That's why I called for the charge. Of course C5 makes more sense as the ending square for the maggot....

that 8 hit the maggot after it charged and had ac lowered by two.

The body of the chelixan man bears a resembelance to Olivia caravan Jondar and Chardak notice the tracks end here but something looks like it might have been dragged from the end of the smaller of the two tracks.

Symas tries to recover his shot arrow. Then gives even more thorough search of the bodies.

Perception roll for search:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Male Human Cleric/1

Jondar walks over to the corpse that resembles Olivia, "This must be Philnder Caravan, Olivia's brother. I will perform the rites of Pharasma and then I ask that you all assist me in covering the corpse with stones. We must show respect for the dead.", he says as he kneels next to the corpse of Philnder. He glances up to Karthan and says, " When we are returning to town we can make a litter and would mind pull the litter with your horse?"

AC 20, FF 19, Touch 12; Hp: 34/57; Saves: Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +7; CMD 24; Perception +11

"I think it best to let the townspeople know he's here and deal with him as best we're able now. Now that we know what we're against we can't waste time. You wanted haste priest. Now it's being granted." Karthan waves a lance in the general direction of the orcs. "Anyone have any idea where this lot came from?"

Male Half-Orc Inquisitor of Gorum 2

Chardak examines the corpses. [b]"Who was Caravan? "

Know (local) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 to recognize the orc tribe.

The Hold of Belkzen no doubt. Stragglers and raiding parties frequently make it across.

Winter Witch 3

"Philnder Caravan is the chelixan body, Olivia Caravan's brother that we were also asked to look into."

HP 12/17, AC- 15 T- 11 FF- 14 CMD 16 F +7, R +5, W +4, P +8, In +1, AOO +6 Half-Orc Alchemist 2

The misdeeds of the darker side of my ethnic origin cause us shame. We should hunt down any survivors. Perhaps Karthan can relay the fallen townsperson's location and catch us up while we continue.

AC 20, FF 19, Touch 12; Hp: 34/57; Saves: Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +7; CMD 24; Perception +11

How far away is the town again on horseback?

gm 3

@Karthan about 10 minutes one way.

On the bodies of the orcs symas finds 20 silver pieces total and studded leather armor he also finds two waterskins and two days trial rations.total from the two orcs
On Philander's body Symas finds a waterskin and studed leather armor and 2 gold pieces 15 silver pieces and 10 copper pieces and a note saying all of the combat equipment is to be returned to southwatch for another gaurd to use and with a seal on it and signed by Vors Homestead.

Chardak cannot tell an exact tribe but the skin on these orcs looks a little bit of a lighter green than most you have seen from Belkzen.

AC 20, FF 19, Touch 12; Hp: 34/57; Saves: Fort +8, Ref +4, Will +7; CMD 24; Perception +11

Don't we have an NPC with us we can send back anyway? I'm not fond of splitting the group if we don't have to.

gm 3

No Olivia CAravan left and went back to town after leading you outside to the tracks.
