Caius Jeggare |
Caius stands to the side of his companions, his hand resting upon the hilt of his rapier.
"Perhaps I should help as well."
He steps forward and grabs one of the concealed handles and pulls.
Aid Another (STR): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
After a few grunts and straining himself he backs away and lets them handle it.
"Seems you both have it well under way."

Marius (with the assistance of kyrus) shows his muscles using the crowbar, the door starts to slide open ever so slowly before coming to rest halfway open. As you peer inside you notice this rectangular room is empty save for some engravings and fixtures upon the walls, a pair of heavy stone doors to the north, and an immense stone wheel against the south wall. The air is stale, and a layer of dust and sand covers the floor, lying in a thicker layer to the south. All four walls bear sunk-relief engravings and hieroglyphs, while small stone faces are affixed to the walls at about shoulder height in each corner. The stone wheel to the south is engraved with a large spiral and is set in stone tracks in the floor and ceiling.
Kyrus Vincenzo |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Cautiously (taking 20 on perception) Kyrus eases into the room, examining the walls and floor as he does so. When the others join him, he takes the time to examine the immense stone wheel against the south wall kn eng: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4. Out loud he says, "Guys! I can't be sure, but to me this looks like a wheel !"
Akbari Radjziic |
Akbari stepped inside only after he had given Kyrus a moment or two to look around and (hopefully) determine that it was safe to enter. He stepped in and then to the side to allow others to enter as well even as he looked slowly around the room, taking it all in. He rolled his eyes and let out a small chuckle at Kyrus' statement.
"I think you may be right. Is the wheel untrapped? We may need to use it to get further inside."
Marius Vorloren |
Marius will examine the hieroglyphics around the room trying to decipher their meaning.
Linguistics check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Once finished he moves to the wheel to examine it for traps
Perception (trapfinding): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 = 15
Marius Vorloren |
Satisfied, Marius asks "Anyone want to double check me? I'd hate to get everyone killed because I missed something." Going outside he leads Eleanor into the antechamber while whistling a tune, as he finishes with a flourish several globes of light begin floating around the room.
Marius casts Dancing Lights
Caius Jeggare |
Caius saunters into the middle of the chamber and takes a moment to look around.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
"Quite interesting. I wonder what the wheel device does?"
As he talks he wanders towards a corner and touches one of the small stone faces.
Kyrus Vincenzo |
Noting that the engraved faces are at shoulder height, and seeing his companion raising an arm to press them, Kyrus takes that moment to duck down to a kneeling position, to check the lacings on his desert boots. He keeps an eye on the othersas he does so.

Akbari Radjziic |
While the others began to examine the wheel to see if it was indeed trapped or not, Akbari rummaged in his backpack. He pulled out a torch that was already lit! It seemed, however, to give off no heat and was not actual fire. He tied it to one of the loops on his backpack and set it so it was 'standing' up out of the backpack over his shoulder to shine light around him without him having to actually hold it in hand.
Rashim Shehadeh |
Rashim hangs back by the entrance of the room, watching everyone else examine the wheel and the relatively small room. Might as well let everyone else stick their necks out examining things...
As he watches, he pulls a single copper coin out from a belt pouch and begins playing with it, twirling it through the fingers of his right hand, and every once in a while having it make an entire circuit around his hand without touching it at all. While doing so, he does try to keep an eye out for any threats that appear that his distracted companions might not notice.
