They are most definitely not fey. If anyone has Knowledge Planes, I can tell you what they are if you roll high enough.

Indras manages to get a hit off on Skrikks, and the creature does not look happy about that. The mound of ice and snow charges Indras.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 Miss!

Need a roll from Grayson for his attack, also, let's say Skrikks is closer, since he moves first anyway. After we get a post from our kobold I'll determine what the other one does.

Male Human Ranger/Adept 1

attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Male Human Ranger/Adept 1

Boo!! poor rolling!

Charlotte continues to be passed out.

Just having Drazheek delay, and going with what the tactics says for the second creature.

Szassh charges Gaandik (Stigr will get an attack of opportunity.), slamming into the stunned cleric.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Just hits due to stun.
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5+Cold: 1d3 ⇒ 1 So 5 Physical, plus 1 cold, which doesn't get past your cold resistance.

Everyone except Charlotte can take a round now, if Charlotte gets healed she's no longer stunned so she can act after the monsters get their second round.

Status:
HP 11 | AC 15 | T 14 | FF 12 | CMD 0 | F -1 | R +3 | W +4 | Init +5 | Per +8

Drazheek attacks the one that attacked Indras.

"Ahh! Kill it!"

Attack with sling: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

Status:
HP: 20/20; AC: 19, T: 14, FF: 15; CMD: 18; Fort: 4, Ref: 9, Will: 4; Init +5; Perception +8
Tiefling Ranger (Skirmisher) 2/Jinx 2

I guess there up close and personal now right?

Indras drops his bow again and unsheathes his greatsword, attacking the creature that charged him.
Attack on Skrikks: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 5) + 3 = 10

Aasimar [hp = 10/10; AC15/T8/ff15; F +3; R-2; W+6 CMD 9] Cleric 1 Channel Energy (7/7) Intimidate Swift(1/1) INIT -2

Gaandik calls on healing power of the Inheritor, excluding the foes.

+ve energy: 1d6 ⇒ 4

They are indeed, and Charlotte is now conscious once again!

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Half-Orc Medium (Relic Channeler) 2 | HP 5/18 | AC 15, touch 11, FF 14, CMD 15 | Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4 | Init +1, Perception +5 (darkvision 60 ft)

Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Stigr grunts as the creature slams into Gaandik, and he hefts his axe in an overhand chop.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Crit Damage: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 7) + 4 = 13

The warrior-priest grimaces as the axe cleaves deeply into the being. You watch your flock and grant us the gifts to defend ourselves, Deadeye.

Stigr slams his ace into the creature of snow and ice, and it falls before him, lifeless.

The remaining creature managing to avoid any further hits slams into Indras again,
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 And misses, if you're curious about the bonus being different then you expected, they were power attacking when they charged.

Yay! So I believe this puts me at 10 HP and 2 NonLethal, is that right?

Charlotte wakes up looking somewhat confused but quickly recovers. She scrambles to her feet and draws her crossbow.

Don't think I can also attack this round, but if I can...

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Let's see, it'd take you a move action to stand up from prone, as part of that move action you can take out your crossbow, but unless you were running around with a loaded crossbow it then takes another move action to load and then finally a standard to fire. If you were carrying a loaded crossbow, I may have to make a roll to see if it went off when you collapsed.

If you wanted to attack this round, I'd suggest a melee weapon. Of course, your roll would miss anyway.

Oh right silly crossbow loading. Let's stand up and pull the crossbow out. Next turn I'll load it and attack with it, since I did not actually specify that I was loading it before.

Male Human Ranger/Adept 1

I'm a bit confused on where we are in the action. Would it be possible to get a battle re-cap up to this point?

We are at the Top of Round 3, Stigr downed Szassh, but Skrikks has only been hit once, by Indras for 4 damage. Skrikks is currently engaged in melee with Indras, everyone else is within 15 feet of Skrikks and Indras, but not threatening in melee. I understand that not using maps makes these battles more difficult, but honestly, some of these encounters don't even have maps in the book.

Status:
HP: 20/20; AC: 19, T: 14, FF: 15; CMD: 18; Fort: 4, Ref: 9, Will: 4; Init +5; Perception +8
Tiefling Ranger (Skirmisher) 2/Jinx 2

I'll post my action for this round in advance

Indras keeps swinging his greatsword hoping to hit the creature in front of him that he so far managed to dodge.

Attack with greatsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 122d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 3) + 3 = 12

And he misses the thing again, he curses for his inefficiency with a sword rather than his bow.

Blast! Firing a bow is easier for me, than swinging this sword. I should stay more at the back coming fights, let them take the brunt of the assault.

Male Human Ranger/Adept 1

Grayson, seemingly in tune with Indras' thoughts raises his bow, and looses an arrow at the creature!

attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1

Who/what are we waiting on?

Let's see, initiative order was Grayson, Stigr, Indras, Gaandik, Skrikks, Drazheek, Szassh, Charlotte and with Szassh dead that means we are waiting on Gaandik and Stigr, then Skrikks.

Aasimar [hp = 10/10; AC15/T8/ff15; F +3; R-2; W+6 CMD 9] Cleric 1 Channel Energy (7/7) Intimidate Swift(1/1) INIT -2

Gaandik attacks after charging with his longsword.

hit/damage: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Male Half-Orc Medium (Relic Channeler) 2 | HP 5/18 | AC 15, touch 11, FF 14, CMD 15 | Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4 | Init +1, Perception +5 (darkvision 60 ft)

Sorry, I wasn't sure if people were waiting on me.

Stigr remains standing over the fallen Charlotte, ready to strike out if the remaining creature comes near.

Readied Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Charlotte's back up, but appreciates the gesture.

Male Half-Orc Medium (Relic Channeler) 2 | HP 5/18 | AC 15, touch 11, FF 14, CMD 15 | Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4 | Init +1, Perception +5 (darkvision 60 ft)

Derp. Replace the above with "stands by the revived Charlotte."

The creature, starting to look weary as Gaandik hits it with a charge slams into the cleric this time, seeing as it hasn't hit Indras.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 And it connects!

Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 andCold damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2 However the cold doesn't get past Gaandik's resistance and as such he only takes the 4 physical damage.

Now Drazheek and Charlotte are up, and then the fourth round starts, if the creature isn't killed off first!

Charlotte narrows her eyes at the creature as it charges. She waits for the opportune moment, and lets fly with a bolt from her crossbow.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

critical damage for Charlotte: 1d8 ⇒ 4

The creature drops to the ground, defeated by Charlotte's mighty crossbow bolt.

Aasimar [hp = 10/10; AC15/T8/ff15; F +3; R-2; W+6 CMD 9] Cleric 1 Channel Energy (7/7) Intimidate Swift(1/1) INIT -2

Gaandik grabs his holy symbol and chants. Healing energy fills the air again.

healing for: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Gaandik's wounds are mostly closed. Charlotte is completely refreshed and at full health.

That worked out well.

"Nice shot Charlotte. Let us search these creatures and get back on the trail."

4/7 channels left. 8/10hp.

The last channel put Charlotte at 10/12 with 2 NonLethal, so this one bumps her up to full.

Charlotte looks pleased and more vibrant and energetic than she's been in hours. "It seems like you've saved my life yet again. I could not ask for better companions."

Male Half-Orc Medium (Relic Channeler) 2 | HP 5/18 | AC 15, touch 11, FF 14, CMD 15 | Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4 | Init +1, Perception +5 (darkvision 60 ft)

Stigr grunts and moves over to the dropped creature. Setting his shield aside, he raises the axe in two hands and brings it down on the being's neck. (Coup de grace)

Damage: 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (3, 6, 4) + 9 = 22

He looks up after the business is settled, staring into the sky and whispering a Skald prayer to speed whatever soul may be going on its way.

"It's protecting the flock, Charlotte, guarding the community we've forged. But I'm glad to play my part." Stigr smiles and puts his shield back on his back. "Now where to?"

While the bodies if the piles of snow and ice left behind can be called bodies of the creatures do not appear to have anything on them, on the other side of the frozen stream you can see a human body lying on the ground, lifeless and cold.

Status:
HP: 20/20; AC: 19, T: 14, FF: 15; CMD: 18; Fort: 4, Ref: 9, Will: 4; Init +5; Perception +8
Tiefling Ranger (Skirmisher) 2/Jinx 2

Is that other rambling creature already gone or is it still there?

"Let's get moving then, if you're done talking that is."

Indras picks up his bow again and moves up to the other side, carefully moving over the ice to negate any thin pieces. He moves to inspect the body at the other side.

Male Half-Orc Medium (Relic Channeler) 2 | HP 5/18 | AC 15, touch 11, FF 14, CMD 15 | Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4 | Init +1, Perception +5 (darkvision 60 ft)

Stigr also stows his axe in favor of drawing out his bow. He moves toward the body, his movements agile and surprisingly quick on the unstable surface--it seems to barely effect him. "Careful crossing--it's slippery," he calls.

Aasimar [hp = 10/10; AC15/T8/ff15; F +3; R-2; W+6 CMD 9] Cleric 1 Channel Energy (7/7) Intimidate Swift(1/1) INIT -2

"My snowshoes should allow more ice to take my weight. If someone lighter wants to use them, no problem. We should get a rope across first to be safe."

Male Human Ranger/Adept 1

Grayson looks at the Aasimar Cleric,"That's a good bit of preparation Master Fatebound. I will wait here to ensure everyone is across safely, and then I would be glad to use your snowshoes."

The Ranger, points out any visible weakpoints, and offers advice on how to most safely move across the stream.

Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

I know that this may not be necessary at all, but I thought it was fun, and a good bit of roleplay.

If by other rambling creature you mean the snowman, he's still there, but makes no further attempts to prevent you from crossing the stream.

Taking your time across the ice slowly, the party manages to get to the other side without a problem. The body on the opposite side of the bank is now clearer to you, this man was a farmer in Heldren, and he must have wandered off into the forest never to return. The man though likely defeated by the same creatures you had just faced, still has his belongings about him. He carries a composite longbow (+1 Str) with 12 arrows; a dagger; a masterwork handaxe; and a pouch containing 14 gp, 25 sp, and 18 cp.

Status:
HP: 20/20; AC: 19, T: 14, FF: 15; CMD: 18; Fort: 4, Ref: 9, Will: 4; Init +5; Perception +8
Tiefling Ranger (Skirmisher) 2/Jinx 2

Wondering if I should let Indras call dibs on the bow, pretty egocenctric, but as he is focused on his own survival it would fit him.

Indras moves over to the body and a look of recognition comes across his face.
"I've seen this man in Heldren, in the tavern he was one of the people that gave me a dirty look now and then. I believe he was a farmer, can't say I knew him, but I feel kinda sorry for him nonetheless."

He picks up the bow and goes through the rest of his belongings.
"It seems he was better equipped than I would have given him credit for. Look at this bow for instance, remarkable craftmanship on that, no doubt."

His eyes shoot from the body towards the surroundings, trying to see if nothing else is near. He still finds the snowman annoying as hell.

Male Human Ranger/Adept 1

Normally Grayson would be in the runnings to take the bow, but I will need a higher strength bonus on mine, so I'm fine with Indras having it. Especially if that is going to be your combat focus moving forward.

Status:
HP 11 | AC 15 | T 14 | FF 12 | CMD 0 | F -1 | R +3 | W +4 | Init +5 | Per +8

"Drazheek has enough daggers."

Looking at the snowman.

"Talking snowman? This gets stranger by the hour!"

Aasimar [hp = 10/10; AC15/T8/ff15; F +3; R-2; W+6 CMD 9] Cleric 1 Channel Energy (7/7) Intimidate Swift(1/1) INIT -2

"Well, one of you rangers should use that bow. The other can grab that hand axe, looks well made."

Gaandik adds, "That is one snowman that I won't be sad to see melt in the sun either."

He points forward. "Let us continue. We can resume our normal order with Stigr healed up. I have more than half my healing in reserve."

Charlotte stands back as the others pick over the corpse. She tries not to let it bother her when they do things like this, but her feelings come out all the same. "Does the man have anything identifying? Jewelry or something? He may have family back in Heldren who want closure."

If anyone wants to try to identify the man I will take a knowledge local check to see if you recognize him.

Status:
HP: 20/20; AC: 19, T: 14, FF: 15; CMD: 18; Fort: 4, Ref: 9, Will: 4; Init +5; Perception +8
Tiefling Ranger (Skirmisher) 2/Jinx 2

Indras picks up the bow and shoulders it, he divides the arrows among him and Grayson, 6 each.

"Who should be our money caretaker hmm? How about you Preacher?" Meaning Stigr of course

Indras throws the bag of coins to anyone who volunteers

Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Hrm, don't think I recognise him with that.

Yea, you would need a lil higher then a 9 :).

Aasimar [hp = 10/10; AC15/T8/ff15; F +3; R-2; W+6 CMD 9] Cleric 1 Channel Energy (7/7) Intimidate Swift(1/1) INIT -2

"How bout we get him on the way back?"

Male Half-Orc Medium (Relic Channeler) 2 | HP 5/18 | AC 15, touch 11, FF 14, CMD 15 | Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4 | Init +1, Perception +5 (darkvision 60 ft)

Stigr would also be interested in the bow, but I don't need it. And I can make it work in-character...

Upon finding the farmer, Stigr immediately wondered if he knew the man...
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
He was going to move for the bow himself, but between Indras's speed and the shock of seeing a dead man he knew (I'm assuming I'd know with that roll), he isn't quick enough.

The Prophet thinks for a moment, wondering if he should risk trouble by demanding the use of the bow. I am the Prophet of Erastil and the only holy man of Old Deadeye present, after all...

Then Indras makes his comment on keeping money, and Stigr frowns, his eyes hardening. "Gold and its fellows often cause more harm than good in the world, and they lead to suffering more oft than not. But if you wish me to be our moneykeeper, I'll do so. Keep in mind this, however: I am no Preacher. I'm merely the Prophet of my deity." With that, he snatches the pouch and ties it to his belt.

"Are we ready to move?"

Stigr recongizes the man as Old Man Dansby, a farmer from Heldren. At one point in time, he was a soldier of Taldor. You also seem to recall a rumor that Old Man Dansby had been claiming that someone kept stealing from his fields. His farm lies near the boarder wood and half of his crops would be frozen over by now, but he had claimed that the rest were taken away. Perhaps he was chasing the bandits that stole his crops when he encountered the creatures protecting this stream.

Male Half-Orc Medium (Relic Channeler) 2 | HP 5/18 | AC 15, touch 11, FF 14, CMD 15 | Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4 | Init +1, Perception +5 (darkvision 60 ft)

Before the group heads out, Stigr performs another rite over the dead man, whispering a prayer to speed his soul on its way to the next world and thanking him for all his work in the community. Would that we had acted on his claims earlier.

Status:
HP: 20/20; AC: 19, T: 14, FF: 15; CMD: 18; Fort: 4, Ref: 9, Will: 4; Init +5; Perception +8
Tiefling Ranger (Skirmisher) 2/Jinx 2

"Ready to move out 'Prophet', whenever the others are ready." A light squeak can be heard fom inside Indras's collar, apparently Argen is also eager to get going.

When we go Indras takes his place at the front again, his new bow steady in hand.
