Kraygan was up early, showing no signs of the sickness plaguing most of the crew. Quite the opposite, as he drinks his breakfast, then goes to prepare for the next part of their mission. Looking through some of their recently acquired loot he replaces his antitoxen, claims one of the healing potions found on Tark, and checks out the magical saddle awarded to them by Calrianne. He also makes sure his wounds have been tended to by one of his cousins holding a wand.

When Torgan announces their arrival, Kraygan emerges to the deck and surveys the swamp ahead. "We ain't built fer this type o' terrain." He grumbles to Torgan. "Ye think the yak's be able to traverse it?"

@GM: can the yaks traverse it?

Kraygan is taking 1 cure light wounds potion plus an antitoxin. Unless someone objects, he also puts the horsemaster's saddle on Haggis.

Yes the Yaks should be alright. Basically the entire area counts as a deep bog. Four feet of water. It takes four squares of movement to move one square in deep bog and tumbling is impossible. Small creatures must swim.

The deep water provides cover for medium creatures and small creatures receive gain improved cover. (+8 AC and +4 reflex)

Still queasy, Wren is grumpy in the morning, but still has ideas.

"It might be that we take enough food for an extra night or two on this journey. My stomach still has not quelled and I'd like not to go anyplace feeling as ill as I do. Also, we might need a few extra days to find a wisp...let alone find a way to kill them. It might be necessary to explore at night to find a wisp."

Wren calls his own magic mount for the journey, trying to avoid as much time as in the muck as he can.

"Not sure either yak or horse was build for swamp travel. Seems to me we'd need birds or swimmers," Wren comments before yielding to the Steelkegs. "Torgan, Jorgan...you guys leading?"

"I'll leave Hops with th' ship fer now. He's not quite ready fer combat." Torgan informs the dwarvesmoot and Wren.

His stomach growls, but he can't seem to keep down the breakfast, so he sticks to liquid nourishment for the morning, expecting his hearty dwarven constitution to work in his favor.

"Aye. We can lead. Picked up a few tricks on tracking an' th' like from th' boys back in Trunau." Torgan responds to Wren. "Better t' track from th' ground anyway."

Agreeing with Wren's sagely advice, Torgan will call to Kraygan to load up Haggis with food for several days. "Make sure t' load up Haggis with plenty of victuals. Gotta make it several days at least, probably."

Wren grumbles at the slow pace of the travel, wishing he had never had the incident had lead to him leaving the isle that lead to him mucking in a swamp following along with four dwarves.

Just when I think I have sunk low, I find ways to sink deeper. This muck is the metaphor of my life now. I used...I could have been...I...was...

Wren slumps, following the dwarves, accepting his fate. He doesn't notice much of the scenery or talk, but focuses on the pushing himself on.

Despite his wallowing, he does keep an eye out for lights in the swamps. Those are important.

While the others wade through the muck, Kraygan travels atop Haggis, sitting in his new saddle with his lance at the ready and a couple small kegs bouncing behind him. I read it as another arrow. Sorry was up late last night with the little one and reading was fuzzy. Yes a RTA would hit as it was a nine and oh man.... Part of me wants to say one as per the bomb but the other part of me wants to say five just for the cool flavor factor. I am going to go with five. :)

Wren looks down in the smoldering mists of the swamp and sees that there are in fact five ember eyed goblin skulls laying in the muck staring lifelessly back at him.

Hydra would have been a bit meaner with regeneration on them so as to heal past death. Now we have an elf walking around carrying a sack full of goblin firebombs. Do I foresee a fiery death in his future from misses at some point? hehe

Peering his eyes with his thick hand to blot out the sun Jorgan looks north. He sees something odd within the swamp. Are his eyes plating tricks upon him because just to the north he sees a makeshift bride and what looks like a trail heading north east.

Follow the trail or continue heading straight north?

As his cousins tend to Haggis, Kraygan helps Wren gather the skull bombs, and even claims one for himself. "I think ye've proven these are worth the risk. Heh."

[iooc]At the bridge...[/ooc]

"Hey, my ass ain't fat." Kraygan retorts, looking self-consciously over his armored shoulder, before grumbling at Torgan. "That's pure muscle, jus' like yer head."

Clucking his tongue and tapping Haggis with his heels, he moves slowly onto the bridge.

Not sure I need either one or five more, but was wondering how you'd rule...I like it as it can only end badly for all. Especially the grumpy elf.

Wren softly huzzahs the snakebeast falls, looking to make sure both dwarf and yak are okay.

"Would you look at that...never seen one of those before. But you all fought well again. That you all can do, and do well," Wren moves slowly to inspect the hydras.

"AH LOOK! THERE IS A NEW SKULL! AND ANOTHER!" Wren cheers and points, taking one up gingerly in his hands and putting it in his haversack. "From one, I have created four more! Magic is fascinating, is it not? And this is *goblin* magic, the worst, most basic kind. If goblin magic can do this, think about what the learned elves could do!"

Wren nods to others to pick up a skull if they wish them.

"Don't tell me that I am the only one brave enough to take one."

The bridge is made of wood from the nearby trees and swamp much but they seem sturdy enough as Kraygan bravely urges Haggis forward after healing his wounds. The timbers creak and moan under the weight but otherwise hold.

The journey through the swamp is much easier using the trail and bridges built throughout. The group has no more problems with the swamp denizens though after a couple more hours of traversing the swamp the trail seemingly comes to an end at a ragged tent. Sitting near a smoldering fire is a dwarf with it's back to the group. The dwarf seems to be mumbling and speaking to something but it is hard to make out what.

"I'll let you guys handle this, Jorgan. I'm sure that nothing good will come from my intervention here," Wren dismounts and stands nearby, still feeling the effects from yesterday's poison.

Vanderhoff peers at the dwarf, squinting. "Seems a bit queer for 'im to be out here alone." Shaking his head, he slowly moves forward. "Hullo there brother. What brings you out here into the swamps?" Van calls out to the dwarf's back.

Women were a mystery to Kraygan. The few that spent any time in his company were either drunk or crazy, and often troll-ugly. Unless he was blind drunk Kraygan didn't have much luck with them, and he didn't have enough ale for that now.

"Woah! Baruk dun!" Kraygan says, not for the first time in his life. "We be friends."

Torgan easily sidesteps the grasping roots as he sniggers at Wren being called a misshapen giant. "She might be right about Wren though..." he chuckles as the elf gets caught in the web of plant life.

Deciding to turn to the tongue of his ancestors as a way to prove their non-orcishness, Torgan also tries to calm the dwarf woman. "Oi! Nem vagyunk orkok! Mikor volt az utolsó alkalommal, amikor hallottam egy ork beszélni a legnemesebb nyelveken szólásra."

Dwarven:
"Oi! We aren't orcs! When was the last time you heard an orc speak in the most noble of tongues."

Look at how skinny he is and how thin 'is little arms be! And his freakish ears! He may bear the same dumbfounded expression as a giant, but he's got the stink of an elf, that's fer sure!"
