The steampunk hog doesn't stir as Kraygan pours beer on it's massive head that looks big enough to swallow a dwarf whole. The creature's leg twitches slightly as it kicks back subconsciously with a loud snort.

The military advancements of fire giants aren’t restricted only to arms and armor—just as ore is dredged from the mountains for these giants’ cruel forges, animals are culled from the wilds to serve as fire giant weaponry. In addition to using hell hounds, red dragons, and other fiery fauna for their brutal campaigns, fire giants have created several unique species of war beasts all their own. Chief among these amalgamations of flesh and steel are the malformed swine known as steam hogs—enormous snorting brutes charged with heading the front lines of fire giant armies, each one capable of laying low an entire platoon of enemy soldiers.

While fire giants are more than capable of crafting new armor for their steam hogs, they take great pleasure in bedecking their prized war beasts with the reforged arms and armor of their vanquished foes. In this way, the armor and accoutrements of a veteran steam hog serve as a record of the battles and wars the beast has fought in. When such a steam hog falls in battle, its armor—and thus its history—are often kept by sentimental fire giant handlers as treasured heirlooms. Steam hogs average 16 feet long from snout to tail and 8 feet tall at the shoulder. They can weigh up to 3 tons, or 4 tons when equipped with adamantine scale barding.

Due to the armor accoutrements the Steam hogs have a natural resistance to damage from all forms of weapons as well as a resistance to fire. The beasts are able to gore and trample their targets, dealing fire damage as well as emitting a cloud of steam from their snouts that blisters and burns the flesh.

The group decides to leave the sleeping hog lie as Jorgan can't stand the thought of killing an innocent beast and head back north.

This rough natural cavern is lit by magical light and has tunnel exits to the southwest, northwest, and northeast. Stair like natural ridges climb toward the northeast exit, which is blocked by a pair of large iron doors. Near the northeastern exit, stout wooden beams hammered in place with iron spikes support a cracked ceiling. An elevated area takes up much of the southern wall, with a smooth-hewn area beyond it.

This guard post secures the passage between the farm level and the training areas known as the Grinder. The giants collapsed all other tunnels leading to the upper levels and fortified this passage as the only path from the ground-level entrance to the upper levels. The cavern is kept open and clear of supplies or other debris so the soldiers have plenty of room to maneuver and intruders have no cover against thrown rocks.

However, this recent engineering weakened the ceiling of this chamber, a fact noticed once they began to move dozens of other giants into the barracks above. After this discovery, the giants shored up the ceiling using massive wooden beams and iron spikes. This defect is quickly noticed by the dwarves and their time spend inspecting stone.

The weak spot in the ceiling is at risk of giving way. Collapsing this weak spot would not only seal off this level from the upper levels, but would also collapse the side tunnel leading to the barracks (which curves around to pass overhead), sealing the barracks off from the rest of the compound. Though if collapsed from this side it would surely also trap the Trunau Militia on the lower farm level unable to push into the upper training areas.

A set of iron double doors blocks the entrance to the next level. Farther down the tunnel is a second set of iron double doors that’s identical to this first pair. Three fire giants stand guard in this chamber as two cover the pair of iron doors while the third patrols the room and nearby tunnels.

Need stealth checks from all as you get close. The tick marks are change in level and difficult terrain.

Once they are hasted and ready to move, Farin will take a sip from his vest and turn invisible again.

Rog grunts approvingly as Kraygan suggests charging straight through the tunnel. "The plan is always the same, but the giants never seem to catch on. I don't have any spells that will disrupt those beams at range though. Jorgan, do you have any spells that may work?"

Rog begins flying as soon as Wren casts Haste so he can avoid the cave-in when it happens.

Looking over the loot sheet, we have a couple of rings of protection +1 that don't seem to be in use. Farin has no rings, so if no one objects, he will put one on.

"Is anyone else concerned about what might come out those doors once we start? If not, give me a few moments to get behind the one on the south ledge, and then we can surprise them."

With haste, I should still be able to stealth at +46 (+31-5 for fast+20 for inviso). Of course, the climb check might be a problem, so I will use a scroll of levitate first to help me out, if GM thinks that will work.

The ripples are more like small changes in elevation similar to steps in a sort of way. No need for climb checks. Just can't charge through them is all.

The patrolling fire giant catches sight of Rogzul peering around the corner as a small stone, breaks loose. Spinning around he lets out a sharp whistle catching the pair of guards attention. In a deep and booming voice he calls out. "They are here. Don't let 'em through the gates or the Captain with have our beards!"

Jorgan hunkers down and waits for a command to charge in. "Ok, everyone get out of the way quick and I'll collapse the exit and then join you."

So everyone wants me to collapse the tunnel behind us, right? Just making sure I'm getting the right one.

After everyone has charged in, Jorgan and Spirit move forward just out of the tunnel entrance. Jorgan keeps his hand on the stone wall, using his natural magic to weaken the stone above into a sludge that soon comes falling in great chunks down to the ground, collapsing the surrounding stone around it and leaving the tunnel impassable.

I think the plan is to collapse the tunnel we're charging through. The description says the North East exit is the one with beams holding up the cracked ceiling.

Kraygan reaches down and grabs ahold of Farin's arm. With a small heave ho the Halfling is tossed, much like Kraygan on a catapult, onto the back of Haggis. The yak moves with the speed of a young cheetah as it hoofs it across the open cavern.

Jorgan follows close behind while Rogzul gets well ahead flying over the dwarves.

Wren lags behind as his old bones ache with each gust of foul wind. Just south of Wren the doors burst open revealing a pair of stone giants with a satchel of boulders hanging from their side as they move into position.

The Vanguard near Wren moves to the edge of the slope and kicks a rock up at Wren.
