"Nice bunch o' loot here. Might be wise ta use some o' it." Kraygan grins as he holds up the ioun stone. "Lets take a look in our giant bag and see what's what."

Taking the giant sized bag of holding he unceremoniously holds it up and dumps it out.

"Gorum's bloody balls! Look at all this stuff! Anyone think we shoulda looked through this before?"

I'm noticing discrepancies in the loot list vs player claimed loot. Might be worth sorting it out. For instance, the loot list has a +1 ring of protection assigned to Torgan, but he just said he doesn't have a deflection bonus. So who has that? Also, Kraygan is listed as wearing a headband f charisma, but I sold it off for at least 2 more CLW wands, and I'm still not sure that was accounted for correctly. Last, we have a pile of scrolls potions we should stay aware of. and Can everyone do a quick accounting and compare it to the list?

Jorgan doesn't really need any of the new loot, although the headband would help his casting a bit. Probably better to give Torgan an AC boost though.

Jorgan shrugs his shoulders at Kraygan. "I think I'm carrying what I need for now, at least until we get back to the forge. By the way, how are we gonna get across this chasm now?"

Phew, it's been a long time since I checked the loot sheet. I noticed that the scrolls weren't on my character sheet for some reason but I've got that corrected. I think the two 6-charge wands listed for Jorgan got used up a long time ago and Jorgan hasn't used a wand in a long time.

Wren's looting on the sheet looks right to me.

Wren looks on as the yakkenhorde share bauble and decide who gets what. He wonders what horror hides behind the door even as his mind thinks of solutions to the door that they cannot yet pass.

I can disintigrate the door, can I not? Would it work? Would the ghostly protection remain? This is interesting to ponder.

Maybe we should seal up all these caves, lock the undying giant within instead. Maybe...hm...

Loot List is updated with the last of the loot.

After the dwarven distractions of loot, sometimes worse than a dragon or a raccoon with a shiny object, the group shift on to try and find a way through these caves. Torgan does a small bit of back tracking and opens another set of double doors to a vast Catacomb.

The walls of these passageways are rougher than the stonework in other areas. The ground is dirty, dusty, and bone-chillingly cold. Giant sized skulls protrude in clusters from the walls, where they have been mortared into place. Words are chiseled into the rock walls near these clusters, some in short phrases, others merely listing names.

These catacombs are the common graveyard for the
Skirkaling tribe.

DC 15 Knowledge Religion:
frost giants hold the dead in high regard, but the climate they prefer often precludes burial in the frozen earth, and cremation is anathema. So that all contributing members of the tribe have some measure of memorial, the custom of interment in catacombs is not uncommon. The small clusters of skulls represent family units. The words and phrases on the walls are written in Giant and name individuals, describe a deed or quality of the interred, or offer short prayers, usually to Thremyr.

Filing in single file the group slowly moves through the dark and narrow passageways. A trio of undead leap out from the darkness. Three dead frost giants have been given the “honor” of guarding the tribe’s ossuary. These giants were some of the Skirkalings’ most bloodthirsty warriors, and though they served the tribe well in battle, they also vented their rage on their fellow tribe members. Eventually branded criminals, these three giants were publicly executed, then animated as mohrgs to attend to the tribe in death. Thick tangles of entrails cling to these lurching skeletal torso's that wind upward to toil from their jaws like clawed tongues. The group wastes little time and quickly cuts them down, returning them to the realm of the dead once again.

DC 25 Perception:
The northwestern portion of the catacombs contains a secret door. The secret door looks to lead in the general direction of the haunted door, possibly bypassing it completely.

Hehe. Alright. Here we go!

The walls of this cavernous room to the east and north are finished masonry, but the rest of the chamber has a rough quality to it, as if hewn from the rock. Against the western wall sits a square stone dais, more a solid block of stone than a platform. A flight of steps is cut into the eastern side of the dais, leading up to a massive black throne. Faded, tattered carpet runners connect the dais to massive stone doors to the north and east. White support columns stand in remote corners of the room, along with a solitary stone bench toward the south end.

This is the throne room of Skirkatla, jarl of the Skirkaling tribe. The ceiling is 40 feet high, the dais to the west is 20 feet tall. The frost giant Queen Skirkatla resides here, coldly detached from the village and training camp she governs.

Skirkatla is the undead leader of the Skirkaling frost giant tribe and commandant of the Storm Tyrant’s training camp at the village of Skirgaard. She is responsible for instructing the diverse giant recruits on how to fight with discipline and intelligence, as well as selecting the best of these trainees for advanced instruction with the fire giants of Ashpeak. Skirkatla was born in the Tusk Mountains and seemed destined to be a jarl from youth. Few frost giants of her generation demonstrated her degree of viciousness and cunning. Skirkatla often broke with tradition and custom, however, preferring victory by any means, whether in battle or other contests. This earned her many enemies, and she was eventually driven from her homeland southward to the Mindspin Mountains. Skirkatla founded her own tribe there, the Skirkalings, and built the village of Skirgaard high upon a mountain plateau. Yet the queen could not ward off the passing of time, and she grew obsessed with retaining her power in her twilight years. To this end, she sought dark counselors—hags and tomb giants—to advise her.

Skirkatla smirks as the door to the west opens within her chamber. Her cold, pale and lifeless eyes flare with eagerness and excitement. Two pictures of her in the Map. Her voice rasps throughout the chamber. A voice that has not spoken for quite some time.

"Long ago my prayers fell on Thremyr's deaf ears. My advisors...." As if on cue a pair of beautiful young woman float off of the ground from either side of the throne. The insubstantial spectre's are bathed in sickly green flames. "...offered me Urgathoa who granted me the escape of death making my reign here unending. Neither you nor the Storm King shall stand in my path.

"After years of research and preparation the Normugruu Sisters enacted a perverse ritual. On a moonless night I gorged myself on the flesh of her tribe’s captives (and her own consort), then immolated myself in a massive pyre to burn away the last of my life’s limitations. Before my charred bones and blackened armor could cool amid the ashes, I arose as a graveknight, an undying champion of terror that you will unfortunately not live to see again. You see Giantslayers have come before and they only add to my army." With that said a pair of corpses howl as they rise from the chamber floor and swoop high into the air. Their hideous elongated legs hang limp as they hold bows made out of bone.

A black miasmic negative energy creeps out in a large radius around Skirkatla as she stands and grabs a wicked looking battle axe from beside her throne. Her joints creek with age and decay.

Wren reccognizes the sickly green women as Witchfires. When an exceptionally vile hag or witch dies with some malicious plot left incomplete, or proves too horridly tenacious to succumb to the call of death, the foul energies of these wicked old crones sometimes spawn incorporeal undead known as witchfires. These ghostly creatures appear much as they did in life, although the grotesque undead energy that births them makes them appear young and attractive and wreathes their insubstantial bodies in a powerful aura of sickly green flame, a ghostly fire referred to as "witchflame" in local legends.

Strings of will-o'-wisps are often found in the immediate vicinity of witchfires and are typically led by the undead, leading scholars to speculate that the creatures feed off of a witchfire's flames and fury.

Wren knows that they are incorporeal, immune to fire and can cover an individual in sickly green witchflames with but a touch or can even hurl them great distances.

Though the flames cause little harm they do make a person quite sick and illuminate their presence for all to see.

*******************************************************************

The undead elves are known as Baykoks. When hunters become utterly obsessed with the chase and indulge excessively in the savagery of the kill, their souls become progressively tainted. When such remorseless hunters perish before they can capture and kill their quarry, they sometimes rise from death as baykoks—flying undead horrors that kill purely for the ecstasy that only murder can bring them.

Unlike many undead who feed on and hate all living things, a baykok seeks always to prove its mastery of the hunt. Though thoroughly wicked, baykoks often ignore all but the most powerful-looking foe in a group, only picking off lesser creatures if they dare to get between the baykok and its true prey. When it finally lays low its quarry, the baykok swoops down on the victim to devour the creature's soul in an attempt to make sure the creature never returns to seek revenge.

Baykoks can quickly devours the souls of a dying creature which heals many of its wounds and causes it to work into a silent killing frenzy with remarkable speed.

Baykoks unleash a blood-curdling howl that paralyzes all around that can hear.

They never need to carry ammunition as Baykoks use their own bones as arrows. As the arrows are created from their own unnatural bodies they also deal negative energy damage and have the ability to paralyze those they strike for a short duration.

"He Who Makes, grant us the power to be made into something greater than ourselves." he begins chanting as the giant runes on the hammer's sledge begin to glow, emanating a roiling reddish orange light, reminding those around him of a forge.

"He Who Unmakes, guide our hands to eradicate our foes from the face of Golarion. Enough power destroy..." Torgan stumbles in the incantation as the fiery tendrils of power emanating from the hammer coalesce into the shape of a bear's head. It's low growl adds to ominous nature of the impending use of transmutation magicks. "... destroy even their souls so that the Boneyard won't know of their existence."

As Wren's spell trails off, a sound like that of a angel bell peels throughout the hallway and with a airy hissing a gap appears in the aether from which a seductive, winged elven woman from the waist up and that of a snake from the waist down appears. Flying up a bit to be out of the way.

Wren smiles seductively at the elven woman, appreciating things from the waist up, but then remembers his age and the battle about to rage and speaks in Celestial to the elven snake-woman.

Blue Readied Longbow vs Kraygan AC 31: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28

Both arrows shatter against the floor as they enter what is left of the fog.

Torgan uses the advantage and distraction as charges through himself for a more direct assault against Skirkatla herself.

"A bold one! You amuse me!" Her voice grates as a tooth falls loose from her face and rattles to the ground.

Torgan hurls Brinya's Love and Aggrimosh end of end in several loops. Skirkatla frowns as she quickly deflects the first couple blows and just allows her mithral chainmail and steel shield to accomplish the rest. The barrage of weapons batter uselessly against the armor, barely scratching it.

Jorgan moves quite a bite further into the room. He lingers on the edges of the smaller fog cloud as he urges the bison to assault Skirkatla from the steps.

Wren's spell completes as he summons a the true elf companion once again. The summoned celestial berates the elf for calling upon her so often in days of late.

Meanwhile the singing celestial elf makes Wren invisible allowing him to move further into the room unabated while he creates a secondary fog cloud near the steps.

Kragan succumbs to the witchfire as haggis freezes in place. His shallow breathes barely give away that the Yak still lives.

Kraygan lines up a shot and is able to land two of his arrows into the yellow witchfire. Though they pass through the incorporeal form they still manage to do a little bit of damage to the floating form.

Incorporeal Touch vs Kraygan AC TCH 13: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
Fire Damage: 8d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 3, 4, 6, 4, 6) = 36 + Witchflame
Miss chance; low hits: 1d100 ⇒ 77

The remaining witchflame spins around and reaches out decayed and ghostly arms for the true elf, much to her horror.

Incorporeal Touch vs True Elf AC TCH 14: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
Fire Damage: 8d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 4, 1, 6, 1, 5) = 29 + Witchflame
Mirror Image; True form=1: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Both Kraygan and the True elf feel a grotesque, cold dread enter their bodies as the flames burn from within.

Witchflame- DC 22 Will save or become engulfed in sickly green flames. While these flames do no additional damage you glow as per faerie fire and become sickened. While under the effects you are vulnerable to fire and take 50% more damage from fire effects.

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 Will Save vs. witchfire DC 22

The True Elf Form Servant takes blow after blow, then gets blasted with fire, a final insult. It it paralyzed and cannot complain about its condition.

Recovering nicely from her burns, the beautiful elven she-Wren continues to sing and moves to tailslap the blue baykok. She draws her longsword as she moves (reach 10').

1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 = 11 to hit (grab);
2d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 + 2 = 8 damage;
1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 13 + 2 = 16 CMD to grab.

Wren, still invisible, flies to Kraygan and utters words to chill the hearts of many a stout dwarf. "Ready yourself, dwarf. You'll have to prove yourself..." Wren taps Kraygan and his yak, Backwash, and wills them elsewhere. Wren bends time and piddlespotting space to move himself, Kray, & Haggis across the battlefield. (About 50 of his 72 5' squares when you account for the large Haggis.)

Haste: Round 6/12 - +1 to AC/Reflex/Attx...yadayadayada, you know the drill.

Bard Song (Inspire): Round 4/12 - +2 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +2 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.

"Rog, we need ye on the damned witches!" Kraygan cries as the battle suddenly goes pear-shaped. "Gah! Now I got one grabbin at me from this Gorum-bloodied fart cloud! Someone..."

Suddenly Wren is at his side, and both of them are across the chamber on the dais, with a clear run at Skirkatla's back.

"Gorum be blessed..."

With bile rising in his throat, he quickly swaps his bow again for his lance, issues a bloodcurdling battlecry, and charges!
