M Elf Age: 252 or so

Wren floats near the ceiling, hoping that his uppityness would take the notice off him compared to the dwarves. He didn't notice the secret door and is surprised when the BeardedTerror finds it first.

"Yes, let's go that way."

Yar, it's rare to get to post #5000, let alone beyond that.

Torgan notices the pair of secret doors right away, which causes the dwarf to tunnel vision and head straight for them, paying little attention to anything else. With Torgan rushing about the remainder of the Trunau Militia are also distracted by his headfirst tactics and are surprised as the entire room and entrance fills with swirling ice and snow, completely encasing everyone and everything within.

Trap with effects of Icy Prison Reflex DC 22. Going to roll saves for this one as it sets off other stuff to speed this along.

Wren chills as the cold seeps through him, avoiding most of the sealant aspects.

"Ah Piddlespot!" He gripes as he compares Torgan's thrashing to Kraygan's limpbearded struggles. He moves closer to Haggis and Kraygran, and grabs the giant ass on by the beard (whichever one). "You're not stuck here...we have work to do."

Wren then casts a spell that bends time and space...moving Haggis & Kray out of the prison.

@Rogzul- You were still flatfooted. Unless you have Combat reflexes or some sort to bypass that.

@Wren- I see what you were doing now. I assumed you were blipping Kraygan and Haggis away with the ice still covering them Correct me if I am wrong. Or were you using it to escape the ice completely? I am not finding a whole lot on if that would /could work but theoretically I would think that it would work leaving behind an ice sculpture of Kraygan and Haggis.

Rogzul does what he can just to hang on as Haggis shatters his icy bonds, leaving just his master to tend to the thick sheets covering him.

Though the ice doesn't cause the frost giants to stumble perhaps a smooth film of grease would instead.

Though Rogzul is near death's door he returns just as much fury and rage back at the giant as he receives. Like most orcs Rogzul is going to go down in honor and glory. Rogzul stabs his spear into the giant's gut and back down again into its knee. The frost giant's knee caves and it falls down to its hands and knees. Looking up the last thing it sees is Kraygan's yaks undercarriage as it is trampled to death.

With the giants down the group has plenty of time to free Jorgan from his icy exterior as well as the rime covering Rogzul.

Wren holds his arrows, seeing that Rogzul has it under control. He watches as the half-human savagely pierces the giant, ending the frosty life with gusto.

He looks back over the icy prison, mesmerized by the power needed to create such a trap.

"Apparently, my assistance is not needed here...except as warning to what we might expect next. That trap...that trap there, that was scary stuff. We should be more careful. That first door almost killed us. We should be cautious," Wren notes, worried.

He will search the bodies of the dead for magic, then be ready to follow the dwarvenkin onward.

"There was a trap?" Kraygan asks. As far as he can recall there was a cold snap followed by a brief blackout and disorientation, which would explain how he had suddenly ended up across the room, but these were things that were not uncommon with the freezing cold and giant ale he's experienced in the region. He counts the drinks he's had today and frowns. Besides breakfast he hadn't had a drop. Weird.

With a shrug he moves to the east doors and prepares to kick them open when everyone is ready.

The slightly frostbitten Torgan sheaths his weapons as he moves to check on his kin. "Aye. You look well enough to continue. " he assesses aloud.

The dwarf takes his time to check the alcoves for possible treasures before moving to the northern door and kicking it in after checking for traps. "Aye, the worrisome elf might have a wee bit of a point..." he concedes as he looks over the door that is about to meet Malt's tough head.

Take 20 for loot on the giants and in their little rooms. Take 20 to check for traps on the next door as well.

With a wry grin, he turns to his brother and cousin. "He wasn't needed here! " he says, letting out a chortle at his linguistic subversion.

The group finds very little loot on the giants themselves besides a pair of large chain shirts and large greataxes. With the giants stripped of all they owned Kraygan and Torgan work and pushing open the northern set of doors.

The hewn stone wall of this long hall has partially collapsed to the east, giving way to a series of large tunnels caked with rime and ice that head eastward into the darkness. This is the beginning of a series of tunnels dug by frost worms that stretch between here and the frost drake caves overlooking the village outside (area Q). The tunnels are roughly circular, between 15 and 25 feet in width, and intersect in irregular patterns or end abruptly.

Malt pushes the large double doors against the ice with an obnoxious scraping sound.

Dozens of dead and dismembered humanoids are abandoned in this ghastly, cold chamber, some neatly stacked and others carelessly strewn upon the floor, as if they had been hastily rummaged through. A few rare corpses are those of giants. Heaps of severed limbs and other body parts are piled among the intact bodies. Fortunately, the natural, preservative cold of the mountain dampens the stench of blood and offal here. There are enough parts here to create several additional undead war machines.

As the doors grind to a halt Torgan hears the sounds of dozens of legs skittering against ice and rime to the north. It is quickly followed by the sound of many bones clattering together in rapid motion.

A set of double doors leads into this chamber. One of the doors stands partially ajar, while the other, scratched and gouged, appears to have been pulled from its hinges and discarded in the corridor outside. The support columns that once stood in the northern corners of the room lie in broken stone shards on the floor. Rubble coated with rime is piled in the corners where the walls have crumbled, though most of the room remains intact.

From the mass of frozen parts rise a pair of smaller skeletons that claw their way to the top. Small trails and streams of blood ooze from every orifice on the skeleton's frames and drips to the ground adding to the gore. As the skeletons shamble forward they leave behind a small thin, and damp trail of fresh blood in their wake.

Even with all of that it doesn't come close to the horror that shambles up behind Torgan and Malt. This patchwork juggernaut. It is a nightmare conglomeration of mostly skeletal limbs and joints. Giant rib bones, seemingly bent and fused together, form a skeletal mockery of a spider’s abdomen and cephalothorax. Massive humanoid thigh and shinbones ending in scrabbling, skeletal hands form
its arachnoid legs. A bizarre humanoid spine and ribcage not born of nature rise from the creature’s body, and three giant-sized skulls are perched on top. The beast has four multi-jointed arms, two ending in bony parodies of crab pincers. Wrought iron is bolted to its limbs for armor.

This patchwork juggernaut is an artificial undead creation called a necrocraft. Wren knows that any weapon will have difficulty harming it unless it causes bludgeoning damage. As for special attacks it has four claws. Two of which (Crab-like claws) are able to grab and constrict causing the target to bleed quite a bit. It is also able to climb walls with ease and once in its grasp it is very difficult to get out.

A necrocraft is a medley of undead body parts and corpses grafted together with dark magic to create a single animated undead creature with abilities based on its component pieces and the surgical and necromantic talents of its creator. Necrocrafts are better suited for brute force than delicate manipulation, and most creators build larger hulks rather than smaller, more agile (and fragile) necrocrafts. Though necrocrafts can be of virtually any size and can be made up of undead bodies or parts of any size, a typical Medium specimen is 7 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds.

The details of the ritual to create a necrocraft vary greatly, and depend on the particular undead parts used and the intended size of the resulting creature. The final anatomy of the creation largely depends on the master's artistry, creativity, and personal preferences—as well as any specific goals it has in mind for the creature. For example, a necrocraft's "teeth" could actually be dozens of clawed ghoul talons, or its eyes and mouth might be located in its chest rather than in a distinct head.

Torgan closes the gap on Malt as the pair uses the cover of the Wall of Stone to approach unharmed as Malt tries to gore around the edges at the creature while Torgan leaps onto Malt's head the strike out whenever the yak attacks.

"Yeah! Get some!" he yells as he hacks and smashes, dropping his maulaxe for Brinya's Love.

Wren creates a long wall of intense flames into the room that covers the skeletal undead war machine. The bones begin to smolder and turn black which only adds to its nightmarish form.

Torgan attempts to close the gap and get a few free blows in at the Baelmourn but the stone wall seems to only hinder the dwarf and yak combo as it can't seem to find a decent shot.

Kraygan holds firm on his ground as Rogzul holds the line with Torgan, deadly spear at the ready. Jorgan calls his earth elemental back into the ground, ready to bring it back in a moments notice.

Bealmourn continues to burn, though it is mindless and doesn't seem to mind the flickering flames as it makes the bones brittle.

The claws continue to tear through the stone wall as it turns the entire section to rubble. The spider-like legs clatter forth as it steps up to Torgan and Rogzul and out of the wall of heat.

Round 3, Init 27

Wren looks from *way* down the hall at what is happening. He had expected a full tactic charge-in-retreat out of the hall so that all the dwarves could beat on the juggernaut at once. He is somewhat shocked (but not reallly surprised) that Torgan is engaging it head on.

Wren float back up the corridor a bit, knowing that there is many layers before he is in danger. Meanwhile, the juggernaut continues to burn.

4d6 + 20 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 5) + 20 = 37 fire (doubled for undead) and 4d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 3) = 12 fire on its turn.

@GM: The last Brinya's Love attack was a nat 20 crit. Did it do no damage?

Now that the impediment to strike is gone, Torgan grins as the creature burns. "It is more effective to trap it in your flames, Prophet! Don't cast your disdain towards me!" he yells as the yak pair strike once more.
