Rormar the Red |
Starting out! Mr. Grath died on the night of the coming of age celebration for Halgra's daughter, Ruby. Interesting events during the night: Grath brothers come to us and state there is a problem (find out graffiti showing up on walls).
In the morning we are asked by Rodrik's brother, Kurst, to investigate.
Leads found and investigated:
1) Brinya - Rodrik's(secret) fiancee - found out about the hopeknife (later) having been lost by Rodrik and an argument about it. He was working on an investigation, and piece of writing presumably about the investigation. As well, Rodrik had been visiting the sanctuary recently.
2) Omast - Rodrik's patrol partner - too drunk to be of any use.
3) Rodrik's room - found a reciept from Sara morningstar's for a hopeknife that was to be engraved with "For Rodrik, my Love" On the way out we find out that Cham had given a room to an unnamed mysterious human male with (maybe) blond hair.
4) Rodrik's Hopeknife - actually Brinya's, actually a copy of Brinya's. Between the squad that went to Brinya and the receipt that was found in Rodrik's room, it was determined to be copy of the original one, forged by a mysterious half-orc named Urnsul. Visits to Sara Morningstar's shop showed that it was indeed made there and that Urnsul was not coming to work and could not be found.
5) Samctuary - Rodrik had been visiting recently. Find out that he had been visiting a half-orc seer named Katrezra a lot, who was also nowhere to be found (Kurst suggests searching inner quarter). As well, the body of Rodrik is stored in the sanctuary, and is examined. Examination shows oil of Tagget, a slow acting poison that causes unconsciousness, in the wounds. No info on where it came from or how it was administered.
6) Rodrik's office - No leads, was looking for a journal or recent writings, but no signs of them.
Potential leads from here on:
1) Find Urnsul - no leads on where
2) Find Katrezra - Inner Quarter?
3) Wolves that attacked us - Most likely intentional attack, the wolves were affected by a poison, could look into where it came from.
4) Oil of Tagget found in Rodrik
5) Mystery Man - took a room in the Ramblehouse (the same night as the killing, I think?). Room search found a note left behind addressed to someone named Melira, mentioning a meddling patrol captain, presumably Rodrik with his investigation, that won't be a problem for much longer, presumably because he's going to be killed.
6) Assassins that attacked us - from freedom town, sent in on contract, so not associated with the killer, most likely. Sent by a half-orc with light hair and facial tattoos.
7) Take a look into the other team in the tug of war, they might have cause to kill Rodrik since he definitely wasn't pulling his full weight there and caused them to lose.

leads found
1.Kurst suggested outer quarter as Katrezra could not make it very far without aide. if i wrote other wise i am bad at english. Points of interest in outer quarter include, Sanctuary, Ramblehouse, Clamor, Hopespring.
There are also a variety of rumors picked up by Roosevelt and Ragha. Including that many shovels around town have been bought up. Some other info at the ramblehouse was a large number of half-orcs that wrecked several rooms by destroying furniture and painting with white paint that Cham and her people have been unable to remove.
Also there are several Orcish graffiti around town, which are also unremoveable(hmmmmmmmmmm)
You current leads
5) Mystery man took a room the same night as Rodrik's death. He reserved the room after Rodrik did, BUT checked into said room before Rodrik did.
6)Little hint if you want some humans willing to do dirty work, Freedom town is where you go, regardless of your own race.
7)The other team was made up of entirely human, militia persons you know them all to be reputable people Rormar and know they don't use full effort. The hopeknife recipient always wins even if the whole town has to pile in to help.
So you guys have a pretty good idea of who done it, and some idea as to why.

Thank you guys for making this!

Also need opinions on regaining a 5th member.
Pros:
Buffer so we don't really have to stop should someone need to drop, they can just drift off into the background like we did with Ragha.
More versatility in group/party.
Cons:
Campaign is designed for 4 people, so i have to compensate for the extra person.(which isn't hard. )
potential increased waiting times for posts, depending on their devotion.
Also Malthu ty for great work so far. Since I don't know you IRL I can't bug you like I can the other 3. Keep it up.
I promise the almost 2 months of investigation will be made up for in the future events of the Battle of Bloodmarch Hill. Related to that event put together some basic ideas for a backup.
Rormar the Red |
I'd be fine with adding a fifth. I think having a Ranger (tracking and decent damage and such) might be a decent addition for a fifth.
Malthu the Redeemed |
We could probably add anything. Sorcerer, zen archer, bloodrager and cleric is a very balanced party. One option is just to PM some of the people who applied earlier to see if they're interested. If I were being strategic, I'd suggest we add someone with good knowledge skills. So Int based classes, Bards, Inquisitors. Skilled martials could alternatively be useful, such as Rogue, Slayer or Ranger.
I wouldn't let recruitment hold up the continuing action.
Roosevelt Foster |
I agree, we definitely need some sort of skill monkey. Other than that, pretty much any class with 4 or more skill points per level would be fine-we really are a fairly balanced party as it is, we shouldn't have a problem slotting someone else in, no matter what they do.
Rurik Rumnahelm |
I'm fine for adding a 5th too! :)
Rormar the Red |
Not a bad idea to look while I'm out, other than knowing people (maybe) I probably wouldn't be too much help
Fennrick Sagebottom |
Does anyone else find it amusiingly ironic that Malthu the Bloodrager just had to settle for being passive aggressive? I found myself grinning cheesily at that thought lol.
I know it was in character, I'm not critiquing.
Rormar the Red |
You know, I have almost entirely forgotten that he went bloodrager. That is pretty funny. Though I also think it would be funny to see someone on the battlefield using passive aggressive powers
Rormar the Red |
Hey, I know I haven't been posting much recently, but I just wanted to let you know that I might not be able to for the next couple of days. I'll try to, but we'll see what happens
Malthu the Redeemed |
I'm going to be traveling from Sep 11-24 with limited internet access. During that time I may try to post on rare occasions, but you should generally feel free to bot any actions you feel would be appropriate. In combat, he's pretty much gonna Rage + Power Attack, and isn't afraid to take damage.
Rormar the Red |
Ah, yes, should leave my skills and such around too.
Rolled my hp, and got a 4 before, so I'll grab DM's one instead as well.

Rormar the Red |
Also, want Rormar to do some non-lethal to Daktani, if he gets down in time? Might be useful for information, unless you guys think there's no chance
Rurik Rumnahelm |
Do you guys think someone should chase Daktani? 4 on 1 should be enough for the troll... Although splitting up is never a good idea :/
Rormar the Red |
By the way, guys, I just wanted to apologize. Just started night shifts and I've been dead the past week or so, but I'll try to be better about posting regularly in the future (though I might be limited to effectively 1 post per day on my on days, due to the time I have available).
Fennrick Sagebottom |
I'm good either way. Fenn has stopped chasing unless more show up.
It may be time to bot Roos's turn so we can continue.
I will be out of communication this weekend. Should be back Sunday.
Rurik Rumnahelm |
Want to go exploring some more? I think if we chase him we might play into a purposely set trap... (possibly undetectable from our side of the door)
How about we start with the room to the west? (just picking one arbitrarily to move things along)
Roosevelt Foster |
Sorry about the absence, work's been crazy lately-I work in an elementary school and the past few weeks have just been insane. I *think* stuff's slowing down for now though. Again, sorry guys.
Rurik Rumnahelm |
No problem! :)
