My name is Mort and I’m interested in running a Gestalt one shot of a PFS scenario – Silver Mount Collection for a two players. I intend for this game to progress at a fast pace. I have run games in person and on Roll20 many times.

I post minimum once per day, and I can probably do multiple posts per day as well.Like HERE. I will go at a slower pace this time round to preserve my sanity^^

My posting requirements are as follows – You are required minimally to post not more then 24 hrs after my last post(multiple back and forth posts throughout the day are, of course, welcome). The first time you get a PM warning, the 2nd time you get another PM warning, the third time, I’m looking for a new player. Should you have RL commitments that make you unable to do so, please inform me in the discussion thread. I’m not totally unreasonable.

The maps will be provided on Google Drive.

Character build rules:

Sources: All Paizo(subject to caveats under individual categories). You may not take any vision blocking abilities/equipment, combined with the way to see through them(I.e, goz mask + obscuring mist, deeper darkness + fiend sight). No Third party allowed.
Starting Level : 5
Race: Common, Featured and Uncommon races with the following exceptions: No Svirfneblin, Fetchlings and Drow. You cannot create your own Aasimar/Tiefling variants and can only use those found in ARG, Blood of Fiends and Blood of Angels. You cannot roll for variant Aasimar or Tiefling abilities.
Alignment: Any non evil
Class: Any Paizo, Gestalt, two classes. No Third Party allowed.
Point Buy - 20
Starting Gold: 10500 gp
No Crafting allowed.
Deities: All Golarion
Background skills are in play.
HP – max for first level, 1/2max+1 after
You start with 2 traits as per normal.

House Rules:

Stealing this one from 5E, I will have everyone take 10 for Perception the moment they enter a new area to find monsters/traps(you’re seasoned adventurers afterall), and the result will be posted in the gameplay thread. If from the description of the room you choose to make more perception checks, you may roll them and I will tell you of the results.
Each character may reroll a single d20 once in the scenario - this is to make up for swinginess of encounters with only 2 players.You may not transfer rerolls, nor use them on anything other then your PC.

Background info:

The strange city of Carrion Hill has long loomed over the surrounding swamps in eastern Ustalav, yet its rulers have shifted many times through the centuries. Often enough that only a few sinister scholars and curious minds know the true nature of the hill’s original inhabitants—vile and depraved cultists of the Old Gods. Yet this morning, a dreadful recrudescence rises from the depths of buried nightmare in the vaults below Carrion Hill. A monster stalks the twisted alleys of the city, spreading panic before it and leaving destruction in its wake. Can the Carrion Hill Horror be stopped?

Character background:

Since this is a 1 shot, I don’t expect much detail. Just give me about a paragraph of minimum 100 words on your character.

Wow, I am so slow, finishing feats now, then I will do gear and will be ready to go.
So I have a question if a character is using a brace of pistol's that allows more than one shot can he use both rapid shot and two weapon fighting at the same time? So four shots at -4?

I recommend you don't try to dual wield guns because I think you need one hand free to reload(or tail, or whatever). Luke, could you shed some light on this?

Or maybe some Gun twirling

Also I think something about lightning reload(lv 11) gunslinger deed for reloading as a free action. Or maybe you can do it early using alchemical paper catridges.

I'm just doing a crash course on gun use!

Me too, and it doesn't help that I'm whipped, but I think were close, I decided to not go with the dual wield.

Going to look at doing a little crafting with the money I have left. Also need to add his background will do that after I sleep a little.

If I were you I'd just use alchemical paper cartridges to reduce the shots to free action. Woo pepperboxes are expensive!

Your movespeed should be 20ft. Im pretty sure you hit medium load a long time ago. Ant haul will put you back at light weight so you can move at 30 ft.

Point blank shot, not point bland shot...

Thieves tools, or take a -4 penalty on disable device. MW thieves tools for a +2 bonus go at 100gp per piece.

Also, give me a reason why you'd be in Carrion Hill.

@Angus:

Dual-wielding pistols is something that you certainly can do, but the penalties are horrible - since a pistol is a one-handed weapon, not a light weapon :-/

As GM Mort has pointed out, you also need one hand free to reload; high-level gunslingers can get around this by buying a monkey belt (not an option at this level), or by taking two levels of alchemist, to get an extra arm / tentacle, thereby enabling dual-wielding (albeit still at a penalty).

Honestly? Since reloading a one-handed firearm is a standard action, I would recommend taking Rapid Reload (feat) to reduce that to a move action, and then using alchemical cartridges to reduce it to a free action.

Consequently, your feats would be:

1st Point Blank Shot
3rd Precise Shot
3rd (Inquisitor Bonus Teamwork Feat) Friendly Fire Maneuvers
4th (Gunslinger Bonus) Rapid Reload
5th Rapid Shot

Consequently, you are also probably better off taking a standard pistol, rather than a pepperbox, and picking up a dragon pistol with the change (so you can attack swarms).

Another thing to consider is a MW Backpack (50gp) - it weighs 4 lbs (rather than the 2 of a standard backpack), but allows you to count your strength as 1 higher, for the purposes of encumbrance.


I've got that figured in, also going with mitheral shirt still calculating bullets, should be ready soon.

I think the weight issue is a little too serious to be fixed with mw backpacks. He's at least on 76 lbs as opposed to light weight of 58 lbs. God knows to get my str based magus flying on a light load for 60 ft move, I needed a handy haversack. Or you could just live with 20 ft move, nothing's wrong with that.

And don't forget your spellcomponemt pouches and holy symbols!

Take a look at his gear and the other crunchy parts, I will get my headers and back story up when I can at work, here in a couple of hours,

I have a ton of cartridges purchased, they all say they don't weigh anything ;) I'm not sure how many I can carry in the bandoliers so the rest are in the water proof bags in his pack.

If either of you see anything that needs changed or improved let me know and I will take care of it, now I just have to learn to play two classes totally new to me ;)

Paranoid wizards are expected to carry multiple spell component pouches. Paranoid divine casters take birthmark trait, or inscribe holy symbol tattoos on themselves. But its ok to be paranoid.

I don't see any issues with your character. Again, I don't play gunslingers, I've been an inquisitor only once.

From a quick glance, Angus seems fairly reasonable.


The background is a little simple and the reason he is in Carrion Hill is that he is traveling north and stopped there to exchange knowledge with another Alchemist, that will be how he meets Howard. With your permission I will post in game ;)

EDIT:I think he is good to go, should he just have gotten off the boat or has he been in town for a couple of days? Or could he have met and been working with Howard?

Its male gunslinger and inquisitor 5. I don't think you're a gunsinger =p I don't think Howard got off any boat, he came by land from Callipas. Work out between you two how you both end up at the towncrier. Howard's an interesting character that might not...work the way normal adventurers do.


If he arrived days in advance he could have Met Howard and arrived with him, since we didn't arrange that I will just move him to the town square after he gets off of the boat and meet Howard at the Manor.

I read Howards background, hopefully we can find a common interest in alchemy and being murder-hobo's ;-)

hey Howard do you know if paper cartridges can be make with silver, adamantine or cold iron, I saw that they had bullets made with them but I haven't found paper cartridges yet.

Technically, yes; you just need to pay the 'upgrade' cost (which is x2 for cold iron, +2gp for silver, and +60gp for adamantine).

If Angus hates undead enough that the solution is to hunt them, how sane is he to start with?

Angus was shooting at the one in the northwest corner, so when Hastur killed it Angus was more than 10 ft, now, stepping into the room to shoot the one in the south-east corner, if it dies he will have to save, correct?
