That’s what I thought but their actions seems to fly in the face of that. Didn’t their motto have something to do with “Justice”. They haven’t been very just.
Toramin Gearsmith |
It depends on ones conception of justice, I suppose. LE types probably think they are doing what is right in their own eyes: justice, white dragon style. Given their name and the region's history, if I were to speculate, I might imagine that their purpose has something to do with the aftermath of the dragon-drow wars. Maybe they were originally created to keep the boot down for their draconic overlords and are willing to keep the boot in place for whatever power exists in the region as long as the dark elves are prevented from rising up to power again.
Toramin Gearsmith |
Even the nazis claimed they were about justice. Terrible people use propaganda and call themselves righteous all the time. I'm certainly not defending the bro-mo's ideas or actions. They need to go. Whatever purpose they serve, whatever reason their fanatical, fraternal brotherhood was created, they need to go.
Bjorkus |
I suppose I’m just wondering if there’s anything there to salvage. A strong objective third party interested in maintaining order would be a good thing for the city in the long term. If the problem is corruption via Raul being in Targ's pocket, we could repurpose them once he’s ousted.
Are they actually nazi gestapo or just wildly corrupt LAPD?
Toramin Gearsmith |
I think they are neither. I think they are a esoteric order devoted to ideals we do not support working in concert with a regime we want to tear down. I think that there are multiple evil purposes working in concert in Akropash.
So, I think there is nothing to salvage, but that there is not some simplistic Targ/no Targ solution to the bro-mo brigade.
Bjorkus |
That’s good by Bjorkus. As far as he’s concerned they can all walk the plank.
Seeing as we seem to be lacking planks to walk and oceans to walk into, he’ll come up with something else.
Gabriel Leoni |
I think I waited a couple months to finally be back with the group and a week and some odd watching all the other party members, including Lindale, get a part. I clearly don't mind waiting. I'm simply frustrated when the waiting doesn't lead to anything, or it leads to 'oh, right, you.' Since I was told I could wait till night time for my part, rather then Rping it while everyone else was also getting a chance to Rp their parts, it doesn't seem very fitting that I get skipped over.
Bjorkus |
I offered you Bjorkus’s part. I think this cell has room for one more if humiliation and torture sounds like more fun. =P
In all seriousness, Omen’s been really busy the last few days so he probably didn’t have a ton of time to repeat previously stated introductions. I can help you try to dig them up.
Toramin Gearsmith |
It's not what you want, but how you said it that I thought was a little abrupt, Gabe. You've clearly been a trooper when it comes to waiting.
Gabriel Leoni |
Gabe might be able to handle the torture half as well as the bull, but I don't think Gabe would be able to rally a group of individuals like that into an A-team. He'd probably misunderstand the halfling, piss off the strix, and annoy the priest with how he acts... oh, wait, that's what he does with almost everyone.
Gabriel Leoni |
Yeah, and he's already found a bloody halfling that can suck it out, -and- convinced him to do so. Just think of it as B.A.'s milk or something. When it wears off you can beat the crap out of Murdoch for giving it to you...
Wait, Murdoch was the halfling in my last comparison... Damn it A-team, you've failed my metaphor!
Rilka Featherfeet |
Rilka has called him Derek, though usually just “Master.” Here is Dalton’s reason for choosing Derek. Honestly, when a “real” name is used I just pretend an alias was used.
I’ll post in game later today.

I was down there years back. The highway way like a parking lot. I wouldn't want to drive anyway!
Dalton Barrowwheel |
Did we end up getting anything out of the guy we were trying to blackmail? Did we sell off his wagon's worth of goods?
The leverage isn't being exploited as weredaddy Ulric has made it clear that would be a bit of a problem.
Also, I just looked through the hybric classes now they're up on the PRD; gestalt much? I'm thinking if rogue wasn't obsolete before, it is surely now. Fighter/Barb going to have tough times too.
Bjorkus |
Yeah, the ACG is largely a broken mess.
Skald, brawler, and shaman fill their own niche nicely without invalidating their parent classes but bloodrager is largely a better barbarian, slayer a better rogue, and swashbuckler a better everything.
Gamers gunna game.
Dalton Barrowwheel |
I'd agree with those 3 doing a nice job, but I'm particularly looking at investigator and slayer and shaking my head. What's even worse, in my opinion, is Paizo hasn't acknowledged the lack of equity which is plainly seen by most players. Typos galore too.
Well, at least it'll give 5E something to chomp at.
Bjorkus |
I’ve never been a fan of ‘iteration via new books’. It’s a pretty classless move on Paizo’s part IMO - though WotC was guilty of that throughout most of 4e as well. I’d much rather they update the rogue than make a better rogue.
I’m not looking forward to Omen throwing Daring Champions at us. =/

My girlfriend is leaving for college on Sunday so I'm devoting the weekend to spending time with her. Next week I have no work and no girlfriend so posting should be pretty fast.
George Costanza in the house.
Gabriel Leoni |
I'm not against most of what the ACG tried to do, they just could have done it a lot better. The warpriest would have probably been better served as an arcetype for the paladin (the class that's already a fighter/cleric mix, hello?), the Bloodrager could have been the arcane equivalent of the paladin (better in some ways, worse in others) and the rest I was eh about.
I really liked the way archetypes did things. Updating with new concepts, angles and so on. I would have loved if they had kept it going with that for the classes they already had.
I'll hopefully be posting as soon as I get a response to a message I sent.
DM Omen |
I disagree with the warpriest being a manifestation of the paladin. The paladins devote their lives to the battle against evil. Warpriests can devote themselves to any deity and any set of ideals they wish. The only thing the two classes have in common is they both use divine magic and are good at combat.
The bloodrager is a little closer to the paladin (in combat only) although instead of defensive abilities they have offensive ones. Naturally their style and roleplaying are much different.
One thing I do regret is how obsolete the rogue is now. It was already a dinosaur, now it's a useless artifact.
Yes, my weekend was great!

I wanted Gabe to be worried about the complete separation of fear, while also showing that he can be afraid, its simply fear of personal harm that's a lot harder to feel. I think he'll have to face something truly, personally, dangerous for me to learn whether or not that personal fear is completely eliminated, or simply muted so that it doesn't overwhelm him. At this point, the closest thing was the giant worm, but he was more afraid of Edward or Bjorkus getting hurt then his own injuries. Gabe might know better if he had instruction during the time his fear started to dwindle but he's exploring a lot of his growing powers on his own. Part of meeting the healers, a group of very knowledgeable men, was to give him a chance to shed some of that ignorance.
I'm not quite sure if that made sense. Seems to make some to me, but if you think its a bit off to be a part of a character like Gabe feel free to let me know.
Bjorkus |
I always liked that comic.
Being immune to fear is unnatural, as is no longer needing to eat, sleep, or breath. Often times, becoming more than a mere mortal also means becoming less.
Toramin Gearsmith |
Our battle cry should be: "WORST SPIES EVER!!!1"
All joking aside, like I told Feral, something things cannot be willingly born if you want to remain who you are. Sometimes defeat and failure are preferable outcomes to silence.
Gabriel Leoni |
Me and Toramin can put up with some nasty damage, what with his defensive stance DR and Gabe's insane healing, but I think we'll need the full group to take him down. I won't begrudge the others from sitting aside and trying to preserve their cover, OOC, though. I just think we have a decent shot at this. XD
Also, this ties into Gabe's beliefs rather neatly. He learned that Bjorkus getting captured like that wasn't part of the plan and he thinks he can save them all. I'm hoping those NPC's Bjorkus was buddying up with will help too.
However it goes though, I'm game.
Dalton Barrowwheel |
I have contingency posts up there to move things along in case the proceedings are quicker than my haircut this evening.
In any event, once the jig is up for Dalton (and it probably already is), in subsequent rounds out of immediate danger, he will attempt to activate Heff's ring.
Also, if the break contingency occurs, I will need to roll a DC 22 concentration check for a primal magic event, separate from combat casting, if appropriate.
Toramin Gearsmith |
So, the ten-dollar question is does Targ count as a giant?
