Toramin Gearsmith |
Don't worry about me. Toramin believes that the more the people who help Akropash, the better everyone will be. Besides, Toramin's plans are on a time scale that we might never see them reach fruition. I'm okay with that. I would love to see the after effects of my efforts but I don't think we will be in Akropash for months or years in game. Maybe we will hear rumors of Akropash further in the campaign.
Gabriel Leoni |
That would be pretty cool. And so would a sect of Torag followers who revere the cunning aspect of the deity, shifting for needs the way the sand shifts? XD So many interesting cultures could spring from Toramin's idea.
Bjorkus |
The entire slave rebellion isn't Bjrokus' thing, his scene, or his crowning moment.
I'm not even claiming that. Everyone is involved in their own way. Lindale is making connections with the city’s criminal element, Toramin is trying to build some kind of long-lasting foundation so the city can actually take care of itself, Dalton is getting himself into a position to influence the other more powerful elements within the city, etc. Everyone has their part in the story. “Rebel leader risen from arena to inspire the people” is Bjorkus’s (even if he is a plant). As long as Gabe stays away from that space, we should be fine.
"There will be no more bloodshed so long as I stand!"
This was the most offensive part of your post.
Gabriel Leoni |
I'm willing to communicate with you guy, but I don't do bullied.
It wasn't offensive. It didn't fit perfectly with how you wanted him to react. I wrote what Gabriel would have said and he would have said it even if Bjorkus had gone first.
The hostility needs to end. This game is fun except when I'm dealing with Bjorkus, but its still fun enough for me to continue to ignore it. The only experience its really going to ruin is yours.
As for the rest, I've already said my piece on it. Its really up to you how this plays out.
Bjorkus |
It was offensive to me - the player.
You're right, the only experience that will be ruined is mine and it's for that reason that I'd rather Bjorkus bow out of his involvement in the arena if you can't acknowledge my grievance and make an effort to meet me halfway.
Gabriel Leoni |
I already said I'd be willing to meet you with the timing, but I'm not changing who my character is simply because Bjorkus can't get all the glory because of it. You've ignored every -compromise- I've offered.
'Step off' is not meeting you halfway. Its doing it your way or the highway.
Bjorkus |
There's plenty to do within the whole gladiator subplot. If you think 'playing your character' requires you to crowd Bjorkus, I'm happy to give it to you. I don't want to argue anymore either. It's yours.
Gabriel Leoni |
Its not crowding anyone Bjorkus. As I said earlier, characters can share opinions and ideals. Its only crowding you because you don't want there to be anyone else doing certain things. Again, this wasn't your scene, and its not your adventure. Its all of ours. I'm willing to work -with- you but I'm not going to let you simply push me aside. If you want to sacrifice a part of the game you were enjoying because you didn't get it all your way, I don't honestly care.
I've done all I could to make this work reasonably for the both of us and you've only tried to make this work for you, as evidenced by the fact that you just plainly stated I could be doing other things rather then what I want Gabe to be doing and what Gabe would do. Again, 'step off' is not a compromise. And the only person who saw a problem with both of our characters reacting to a situation both of our characters reacted to was you. Omen -actually enjoyed- what was happening.
Bjorkus |
If you still think I'm claiming that this adventure is all mine, you haven't understood a thing I've said. I just want my character to enjoy his gimmick in peace. You disagree on what that entails. There's no point in arguing the point any further.
Ultimately, it's fine. I've had a few ideas on other stuff to get involved in anyway. I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is and act on them.
Gabriel Leoni |
And now I'm going to raise my issue with you. You're overly hostile and you've attacked my character IC and OOC, if not with a sword then with your characters actions. You ask for compromise and want people to meet you halfway, but you've just admitted to the fact that it was, in the end, your gimmick that you wanted to enjoy in peace and that I could be doing other things in the gladiator role, which is not a compromise. You call things my character does offensive but all you can do to explain that is that it bothers you personally and that it steps on your gimmick.
I don't trust you to behave kindly right now. You really need to stop acting with hostility. If Bjorkus is going to keep glaring at, glowering, and silently swearing at or cursing at Gabe because you have a problem with me or my character then I'm going to bring it up to you and ask you to stop.
Bjorkus |
I will admit that the most recent glowering was due to my out of character frustration but previously it was in-character because Gabriel was doing stuff to endanger the rest of the party’s mission. Beyond that, Bjorkus thinks Gabriel is naïve and overly dependent on his magical gifts but he doesn’t overmuch dislike him. If Gabriel doesn’t trust Bjorkus for being a pirate and womanizer I wouldn’t fault you.
Gabriel Leoni |
Gabriel only just learned about the pirate part again honestly. I was actually thinking of making it a joke of him continually forgetting that considering how bloody honorable Bjorkus normally acts... most of the time. He's also unaware of the womanizing part but I don't think that will personally affect his opinon.
Right now, Gabe respects and is a little afraid of Bjorkus given the guys strength. But there really hasn't been much else to it aside from a growing... indifference. In the past when I've tried for more it was ignored or glowered at. Most of those jokes or branches were at Gabe's expense by the way. Gabe's going to start reacting accordingly. Not with hostility. He's just not really going to do anything with Bjorkus.
Bjorkus |
Well I apologize for any unintended antagonizing. Some of it was intended as in-character jibe because Bjorkus is a crude pirate that isn’t a big believer in personal boundaries. That said, if it bothers you, I’m happy to stop.
Gabriel Leoni |
Bjorkus, I don't mind the jibing. Its part of the great potential I saw in the characters interactions actually, but the closest we came to it was at the beginning of this arena. I enjoyed that, and I've been trying for more of that, because its fun to see Gabe, whose way too serious these days, get set off balance by someone with more experience. His friend Edward is too polite to do that most of the time.
Gabriel Leoni |
I'm sorry, by the way. Toramin managed to cool me down and explain to me an error in what I was seeing.
I remember in my first game being stepped over all the time and I never intended to do that with you. You do have a legitimate issue and I apologize if, in my frustration, I overlooked it. I don't want you to give up on your idea of Bjorkus taking the lead with the rebellion. I'd be more then happy to work with you on the timing because, your right, it did screw you over out of a moment that could have been awesome for you. I wouldn't have changed the theme of what Gabe would have said, but I'd be happy to change the wording so that, rather then trying to budge in on what Bjorkus said, it puts support to the bull instead.
Bjorkus |
I'm convinced that Toramin is some fort of IRL witchdoctor...
Thanks Gabe. That's all I asked. I'm not demanding that you not be involved at all, just that you leave the actual Sparatacusing to Bjorkus.
Except for the whole execution by crucifixion, you're welcome to that. =P
DM Omen |
Good talk guys. Sorry I went afk, but I'm glad we got everything out in the open and know where everybody stands now. Woohoo, back to gaming!
I haven't checked my PMs yet, I'll be doing that in a moment.
Toramin, thanks a lot for helping out as a medium here. I bow to your superior conflict handling skills.
Gabriel Leoni |
Anyone else feel drunk with relief? Like, literally? Head woozy, perception blurred and thoughts slurred?... what, just me?
DM Omen |
Yeah, I'm very relieved that is out of the way. I thank both of you for handling this maturely.
So you guys have just finished a "mini-arc", which means that you'll be going another direction the next time I have a chance to post big.
For reference, I have the entirety of the campaign mapped out in "major arcs" divided into "mini arcs". A major arc is this entire mission, while a mini arc is all of the gladiator games.
Anyways, I'm hitting the rack. I'm excited to start the next part!
Dalton Barrowwheel |
Platypi for everyone!
Dalton Barrowwheel |
I must find where I keep it, so I'll get back to you tomorrow with that. IRL, I'm notoriously fiscally observant. In PBP, not so.
Gabriel Leoni |
I'm hoping something of interest happens before then considering that's what I'm waiting for. :P Not that I mind waiting, I just don't want the details I was looking for to get skipped over.
Toramin Gearsmith |
Yep, Ninnec is an important part of the house finding. However, I'm not telling him since I want a connection nobody knows about. It's one thing to bust through a basement in order to have a secret escape route. It's another to advertise that you are in the market for a secret escape route. I'm relying on Ymir to be my ace in the hole.
Gabriel Leoni |
Going to go house hunting with Ninnec and have the elemental check for any of those tunnels?
Gabriel Leoni |
Very clever. You don't even have to let Ninnec know about the elemental doing that... XD Unless you want to try and bluff the streetwise guy.
Toramin Gearsmith |
Toramin would have discussed with the Irisvari persvek wer inik how they should communicate with each other. How can they make contact with him, and he with them?
Toramin Gearsmith |
The mind shudders at the amount of febreeze required to freshen that loincloth.
Rilka Featherfeet |
Catching up on this thread (I missed checking yesterday) was inspiring. I’ve seen games fall to pieces. Thank you both for being mature and making a *huge* effort to communicate better and admit your mistakes. Additional thanks to Toramin for helping to resolve the conflict.
*Joins the group hug*

I’m fairly confident that 3129.33 is the current value of her gear. Please note, while masquerading as a slave, she isn’t using the mithral shirt. As far as new magical gear goes, I’ll start checking the PRD. Sorry for the delay.
