Check out this one I'm using for a PFS game.

That was why he took a screen shot of the map and uploaded it for us. We wouldn't have to log in, we just saw the picture he wanted us to see uploaded to photobucket or something.

But -shrug- He was the only GM who ever did that so there's probably a reason why. XD

Like I showed with the map I linked, you can set it up so people don't need to log in to view the map.

I like google spreadsheets because it's simple, people can view it easily from smart phones, and the DM doesn't have to upload map links every time there's an update.

Leaving poor Bjorkus behind. =(

Just waiting for our noble friend to post, then you will move on Bjorkus

Hopefully he posts soonish. I'm heading to the gym soon. I can post from the gym but I hate being 'the guy on his phone constantly' when I'm there.

XD Wow, that was poor luck on both our parts Omen. Geez. Well I suppose it will seem more like that they're evenly matched rather then flailing about, won't it?

Male Grizzly Bear 3 | HP: 30/30 l AC: 19 /T: 12/FF: 17 l Fort: +4, Ref: +5, W: +4 l Init: +2 l Per: +5; Low-light vision; Scent l Movement: 40

Heh, it's alright. Low level characters are almost comically inept.

Male Tiefling Paladin 7 Tiefling, Init +0, Hp: 67/67, AC: 21/Touch: 10/ Flatfooted: 21, Resist 5: Fire, Electricity; Fort: 11/Ref: 6/ Will: 9, CMD: 21, Perception +0 (+2); Loh 6/10 day, Smite 2/3 day, Shatter 0/1 day

XD True. But we don't always have to spin it that way do we? :P

Besides, the barbarian I rolled for a PFS game over the weekend was one hitting most of the mobs and doing better then the level 2's and 3's about. Not nearly as much story to those games usually but so good for chewing on a nice dungeon delve or three.

Barbarians are probably the best level 1 class. Highest health, to hit, and damage. For a few rounds anyways

Male Grizzly Bear 3 | HP: 30/30 l AC: 19 /T: 12/FF: 17 l Fort: +4, Ref: +5, W: +4 l Init: +2 l Per: +5; Low-light vision; Scent l Movement: 40

Barbarian's really good at 1. Paladin and Summoner stand out as well.

I've recently become a big fan of starting campaigns at level 2 or 3.

Male Tiefling Paladin 7 Tiefling, Init +0, Hp: 67/67, AC: 21/Touch: 10/ Flatfooted: 21, Resist 5: Fire, Electricity; Fort: 11/Ref: 6/ Will: 9, CMD: 21, Perception +0 (+2); Loh 6/10 day, Smite 2/3 day, Shatter 0/1 day

I am too, but sometimes level 1 just works.

Also, Dawnflower Dervish is nearly as powerful as barbarians. I plan on switching my PFS character over to it before he hits level 2. Almost as much damage if you play it right, five times the utility. XD And spells.

Male Tiefling Paladin 7 Tiefling, Init +0, Hp: 67/67, AC: 21/Touch: 10/ Flatfooted: 21, Resist 5: Fire, Electricity; Fort: 11/Ref: 6/ Will: 9, CMD: 21, Perception +0 (+2); Loh 6/10 day, Smite 2/3 day, Shatter 0/1 day

Darn it... I hate these forums sometimes. Just lost a whole post because of a stray click. -sigh-

Of definitely. Unless built along a very narrow ledge of optimization, barbarian is actually one of the worst melee combatants in the medium-long term.

Fortunately, Bjorkus won't likely be too barbarian-y.

Why is that? I thought the Invulnerable Rager seems cool, and the Beast Totem lets you pounce. What do you need to be a good melee person in the long run?

Less concern about optimization. More concern about story!

Male Tiefling Paladin 7 Tiefling, Init +0, Hp: 67/67, AC: 21/Touch: 10/ Flatfooted: 21, Resist 5: Fire, Electricity; Fort: 11/Ref: 6/ Will: 9, CMD: 21, Perception +0 (+2); Loh 6/10 day, Smite 2/3 day, Shatter 0/1 day

Yeah, I once made a barbarian at 5th level who had to keep up with 8th and 9th level characters. What did I do? Made him impossible to kill. 20 con, 26 when raging, DR 2/-, and lots of resistance thanks to a level in wizard. He hit about as hard as any barbarian, but it became a thing where he'd walk through fireballs, cannon fire, walls of fire and anything that should have killed him and come out swinging on the other side. XD

That's the exact narrow ledge of optimization I was talking about.

I would be concerned about story if mine wasn't in a holding pattern. =(

Though, honestly, I'm not sure if I know what's good or not. Since I know I'm excited by the idea of making a Cleric (Crusader)/Monk 3/Paladin (2)/Champion of Irori (X) and guided striking it up if I ever get into a Wrath AP, and I'm pretty sure that's actually a terrible idea.

Male Dwarf Paladin (Stonelord) 11 l HP: 105/105 (127/127) l Init: +1 l AC: 30 (44 v giants) [T: 12 (14); FF: 27; CMD: 29/33(43)] l Fort: +13 (+15), Ref: +7, W: +9 (+11) (All saves increase by +5 for p, sp, and spls) l DR: 5 (Adamantine) l Per: -1

Speaking of the story, I think the PbP format is definitely heightening the impending other-shoe-dropping nature of waiting for battle. :-)

XD I agree.

Also, a question to Omen. Will you always describe the results of the rolls or will you have us being doing so sometimes?

I know some DM's prefer one to get more control and quicker battle posts, and others prefer the other for less work, and I'm curious which you fall under.

Either way works for me, just curious for future reference.

I hear holding your breath for such things is good for your health!

You can describe what you attempt to do. For instance. Don't say "I wound his leg deeply with a thrust". Say "I see an opening by his leg and try to stab it". Just so there's no confusion of facts.

I will typically post 1 big end of round action unless somebody did something particularly explosive on their turn.

Did that cover what you were asking?

-shrug- You can read mine if Omen doesn't object. I think its just to let people who need to read them know that there's info for them in there.

You can read them if, and only if, you do not meta-game. I'm sure you are all capable of that, and this is just a reminder

Very cool description, GM Omen. The vanguard sounds scary. I'm very glad I have a reach weapon; I really should read up on reach and attacks of opportunity.

Toramin, are we going with the idea that Gabriel and your dwarf have met before, considering how often they're both around Geoffrey?

Update on spoilers. If the spoiler is tagged with a name other than your own, then it's simply information that's probably not useful for you. If it has the word 'only' in it, that means do not read it. For example..

You guys can open both of these, they are just examples

Toramin:
As the argument continues, you see the dwarven woman across the table wink at you

Dalton Only:
As you watch the wizard cast his spell, you realize he's not casting teleport, he's casting fireball! However, as you try to speak up, you find your jaw is locked shut and you cannot move. He must have realized you would interfere and had a hold person spell ready for you.

Clear?

Hrolf isn't an over interesting character and probably wouldn't consider either of you guys one either. This is just letting you guys start out with your gear as a 1st level character should

Or maybe our leadership assassinated! So many choices!

Seriously, Geoff has this whole too-pure-for-this-world vibe that is just begging for an Aeris-like sword in the back. I worry for his health.

I cannot help that I the player have a better wisdom score than my character, DM Omen. ;-)

That being said, as Toramin, I don't want anymore paladins to die. We are an endangered species after that whole Azure City debacle.
