Those addendum make sense to me. How much longer will it take to create the first one?

Bjorkus, is this something you want?

Male Grizzly Bear 3 | HP: 30/30 l AC: 19 /T: 12/FF: 17 l Fort: +4, Ref: +5, W: +4 l Init: +2 l Per: +5; Low-light vision; Scent l Movement: 40

Bjorkus definitely wants one but doesn't everyone need the same protection?

I would suggest not making it horn specific, although that suggestion is made as a player and not as a DM. Most adventurers don't have horns :P

It would depend upon your craft check. I will measure progress on a day to day basis depending on how much time you spend on it, how high your craft check is (no taking 10 or 20), and what resources you use.

Also, I am loving all the discussion and roleplaying in the gameplay thread right now. Especially since you're discussing the problems in character, I loved reading through it! Let me know definitively (out of character) when you are ready to move on or want some other response from me. There's no rush, just letting you know.

I was going to make a circlet for the other characters; my thought was the bands could serve as a template for the circlets, but that Bjorkus might appreciate the attention to his particular physiology. If he is cool with a circlet as well, Ianna will just make that instead.

I think we are definitely waiting on you now. Either for results on research, people contacting us, etc.

So beyond researching Dragons, what are the specific goals you have in mind?

The dwarven lore of dragons will allow the party to gain knowledge equivalent to what is "common knowledge" in standard Pathfinder settings. As far as setting specific history, you can only find broad strokes the the librarian suggests that further historic knowledge could be found with the elves.

Male Dwarf Paladin (Stonelord) 11 l HP: 105/105 (127/127) l Init: +1 l AC: 30 (44 v giants) [T: 12 (14); FF: 27; CMD: 29/33(43)] l Fort: +13 (+15), Ref: +7, W: +9 (+11) (All saves increase by +5 for p, sp, and spls) l DR: 5 (Adamantine) l Per: -1

Toramin was looking for the specifics of dragon gods and and draconic cults (as noted in the original post.) Along with trying to find out why their alignments are set on stone.

The dragon gods are the same, and with the help of the library you can learn everything that's on the wiki about them.

The cults are shrouded in mystery and fall under the setting specific history category.

As long as nothing drastic (like being turned into an undead) happens, dragon's alignments are set in stone.

But no hints at to why that is the case? Were older scholars even interested in that question? It just seems very odd to me that a "mortal" race had no moral diversity.

Yeah, I took base price mean cost to create, but I've fixed it.

Correct, no hints as to why that is the case. I know the answer may seem unsatisfying, but that is the only answer the dwarves can provide to you.

Male Dwarf Paladin (Stonelord) 11 l HP: 105/105 (127/127) l Init: +1 l AC: 30 (44 v giants) [T: 12 (14); FF: 27; CMD: 29/33(43)] l Fort: +13 (+15), Ref: +7, W: +9 (+11) (All saves increase by +5 for p, sp, and spls) l DR: 5 (Adamantine) l Per: -1

Then I think we are ready for the next thing.

I believe the plan is as such:

Until We are Healed:

Research and Craft.

After we are healed:

Go towards Bjorkus' side quest. Toramin will ask that they been sent to the dwarven port by rail and then have a ship chartered for the port we are going to.

We will be responsive to things that happen in the meanwhile, but I believe we have painted the picture of our downtime and are waiting for your input, guidance, and wisdom.

Ianna, feel free to roll the rest of your craft checks for the week. You got a pretty good head start with your first four.

Writing up a post now.

Does Bjorkus's gift have any mechanical effects?

Functions as a holy symbol, the book gives a bonus to knowledge (religion) when it's in any way related to dwarves.

Math:

Given,

Dalton has 38 hours of work-time during the week, which is 4 work days + 6 hours ; &
Scrolls not more than 250 GP take 2 hours of work to scribe and scrolls costing otherwise are one workday per 1000 GP to scribe ; &
Scroll cost in GP = Spell level x Caster level x 25 ; &
Dalton can find buyers for all scrolls scribed ; &
Buyers purchase scrolls at half their listed cost.

Then

The value of his scrolls are:

4th level: 4 x 7 x 25 = 700 GP
3rd level: 3 x 7 x 25 = 525 GP
2nd level: 2 x 7 x 25 = 350 GP
1st level: 1 x 7 x 25 = 175 GP

Thus

Creating 4 scrolls of 4th level spells consumes 4 workdays (32 hours).
Creating 3 scrolls of 1st level spells consumes 6 hours. The total time spent working meets the 38 hours of work-time as 32 + 6 = 38.

Thus

The total value of Dalton's scroll scribing for the week is:

4 x 700 + 3 x 175 = 3325 GP

Which he can sell for

1662.5 GP

The above value of Dalton's labors assumes he is selling scrolls. However, he does not need consumables to learn a spell - he only needs to study a spellbook. I'm assuming there would be a charge to look at a book, but this charge would be less than the cost for a scroll. I would assume half the price. Do let me know if Dalton can find such people.

Diplomacy(Finding people with teh magicks): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

Given obsidian flow and burrow are both earth-centric, I imagine Dalton could find them in dwarven lands. Dimension door would seem more common than the other two, though it isn't dwarf-centric.

In the event there is no discount, the cost of the scrolls would be 1775 GP.

Also, for the two scrolls you mentioned in game, I was thinking Secure Shelter and Stone Shape.

...yeah. I agree with you down to the letter, and with a 30+ on your diplomacy roll you find teh magicks without any issue. Good legwork and number crunching. Way to show your math too.

I am still going to be busy for a while (I have finals this week), but there will be no unpleasant, unexpected events before the tide at midnight. Make battle plans appropriately.

This is going to be a fairly large-scale combat so I'm going to keep the map as view only. Tell me what your plan of attack is and where you would like to be placed to start, including what you want the Aestherics to do.

Ianna is offering a Shield of Faith to those without good deflection bonuses.

Toramin will ask Bjorkus to invigorate him, and use shield.

How much range support do we have?

The "Aestheric Fighter's" are warriors trained with both blade and bow, they can do whichever is needed. Quincy is better in melee.

I'll try to post as soon as I reach someplace stable.

Bjorkus isn't usually one to ask for spells but he's appreciate a shield extract too.

So what I'm hearing right now is half of the Aestherics swim to attack the pirates from behind while the other half stay back with Dalton and Ianna to provide ranged support. Meanwhile the rest of the party (after buffing) will attack from the front. Is there going to be some kind of signal for everybody to attack?

Two of us have message, which only has a whisper-level verbal component and a point a somantic; we should be able to coordinate that way if a line of sight is open.

Dalton will direct the archers out around him in advance as to avoid blindness with obscuring mist when he casts it.

I edited Touch of the Sea into the Battle Tracking spoiler. I also moved Toramin 5 feet up since he said he was moving with Bjorkus.

Bjorkus, Rilka, and Tormain also have a Heroism effect.

Heroism added in.

Toramin, is your chain in reach mode? I would appreciate you specifying this at the beginning of every combat, unless you want me to always assume you have it one way or the other.

Male Dwarf Paladin (Stonelord) 11 l HP: 105/105 (127/127) l Init: +1 l AC: 30 (44 v giants) [T: 12 (14); FF: 27; CMD: 29/33(43)] l Fort: +13 (+15), Ref: +7, W: +9 (+11) (All saves increase by +5 for p, sp, and spls) l DR: 5 (Adamantine) l Per: -1

Toramin usually starts in chain, which is why he took up position where he did. The only time that Toramin has not started in chain is when the baddies went first and entered melee.

It doesn't matter for this combat since you had time to prepare, but what is the default mode for Talev's Legacy?

8 damage is not a minor wound!

Dalton's haste should be going as well.

Chain, unless, there are enemies in melee when he draws his weapon.

Since Dalton was waiting to cast haste until battle was imminent and the enemy started combat unexpectedly, he did not get a chance to cast haste.

Toramin wrote:

You can't have it both ways and then get to pick one depending on the situation. You are absolutely free to change the mode of the weapon whenever you want, but if your default mode is chain and then enemies start combat with you in melee, that does not mean the chain in your weapon auto-retracts.

I've come down with a pretty nasty infection and my next few days are going to be spent in a cocktail of drugs blur, so my posting may be scarce.

I don't mean to have it both ways. Either I don't understand or I'm not explaining myself well. When you draw the weapon you get to choose what mode it's in right?

Oh no! Get better soon! Be vigilant in your about staying hydrated and taking your antibiotics at the appropriate times.
