Since two range increments seems to be the sweet spot Bjorkus will fly in until he's 45 feet away. He's speed 90 hasted with fly.

I moved Bjorkus 90 feet closer, since he used the wand this round that's the most he can move with his remaining move action.

Is the negative energy retribution spell that just damaged me anything like fireshield? I know the text of fireshield specifically excludes damage done by reach. "Creatures wielding melee weapons with reach are not subject to this damage if they attack you." I was curious if this spell had the same restriction, which would mean that I just didn't take 29 points of damage or if it were superior to fireshield in that regard.

I suspect she's a 14-15 level caster so it's entirely possible.

With a bull's strength Bjorkus might be able to hit her insane AC but he's still far from fighting shape.

It's a special ability of this particular undead.

Toramin wrote:

Ohhhh s!+~, you're absolutely right. Good catch.

God I hate reach weapons. Not because they're overpowered or unfair or anything, but just because there's so many little rules for them. I do need to get better about them though.

Gabriel, the area you are on is higher ground, 15 feet higher than where Acera and Toramin are. You would not provide flanking at that height. Ymir did because he was inside the earth. I'm going to let Gabriel revise his post before moving onto the baddies.

Can I use a stance while benefiting from invigorate after being weakened by her fatigue spell? It says I take no penalties from fatigue, but I don't know if not being able to enter a stance due to fatigue counts as a penalty.

Yes, you can enter a stance.

Omen, unless she cast that spell defensively it's going to provoke two AoO's, right? See the roll, though addressing it in the text would probably make it easier to notice, as a heads up.

Omen, I think you rolled a little high on that spell for damage, unless she's level 18. Or unless her feats are making her count as +insane amounts to level.

Grappling means no more spells with somatic components, and that's a lot of spells. Unless you mean that last spell of hers. The spell in question deals 1d6 every 2 caster levels. There are ways to increase that, I think, but to nearly double the affect?

Gabriel wrote:

A) If you didn't make the roll, please don't look at the spoiler. Me having to remind everybody of this is getting too common.

B) No, that's correct. She's poured a lot of things into powering up that spell specifically

'Toramin feels his life energy being sucked into the evil woman.'

You told us what it did. The power option left only a couple choices and this one came with a touch attack. I didn't look under, I just recalled. It happens for me. And that really sucks because without Bjorkus doing anything we're kind of hamstrung at the moment.

Also woo! Gabe is before Toramin with Raul so if we grapple then he get's that much easier of a shot against her.

Sure but I don't consider Bjorkus to be 'insane' at anything except getting hit. =P

I'm going to bed for the night. You can post your actions with the knowledge that Gabriel's grapple landed.

Male Tiefling Paladin 7 Tiefling, Init +0, Hp: 67/67, AC: 21/Touch: 10/ Flatfooted: 21, Resist 5: Fire, Electricity; Fort: 11/Ref: 6/ Will: 9, CMD: 21, Perception +0 (+2); Loh 6/10 day, Smite 2/3 day, Shatter 0/1 day

Gabe has the same AC you do and far less health* (Fricking auto-correct), not even counting rage. His normal reserves for healing are gone and he's gone under the 0 line twice, ontop of being choked for a bit. He has the potential to be more durable with healing and heavy armor but he has had neither this day and he still jumps into the fray with what he does have. And if you want to try and say he had a smite against that warlord, it didn't matter. The only AC that could even challenge that things accuracy was Toramin.

You got hit hard by Targ and a gunslinger, both enemies designed to do just that. Instead of pressing your advantages you keep worrying about your disadvantages.

If you don't want to play a frontliner anymore, that's your choice and I won't argue you out of it. But don't pretend you can't just because you get hit a lot. Gabe does too and the only reason he's alive is because of you and Toramin. And Heff, who claims he did nothing anyway.

Yes, the battles we fight are mathematically speaking far out of our league. We still chose this fight. And so far, it hasn't been bigger numbers that won us the game, and right now big numbers actually hamper us against this little biddy. But you have other advantages. You could have this lady pinned in a round thanks to your abilities, and that would mean next round you could bind her with manacles. Boom, any spell she casts with Somatic components is suddenly thrown into 'probably not going to happen' with her.

Instead, you charged in alone with an AC you admit sucks, then ran when you got hit because of a trap she had set.

We have maybe a round to finish her before that gunslinger turns it's eyes on us and then we're screwed.

You can play this game how you want Bjorkus. If you want to be a support character, that's your choice. But it is a choice. Your character can absolutely rock it with Toramin and Gabe, if you're a little more careful about when to hit. That's part of the glass cannon shtick.

Male Grizzly Bear 3 | HP: 30/30 l AC: 19 /T: 12/FF: 17 l Fort: +4, Ref: +5, W: +4 l Init: +2 l Per: +5; Low-light vision; Scent l Movement: 40

I'm just saying I don't consider +2 or +3 better to be insane. I appreciate the praise but it's hardly a meaningful amount and I highly doubt it's going to work here. This is coming from a guy that plays a lot of grapplers. There's a time to grapple and time to not. This is a time to not.

I'm not going to bother responding to rest of that. I know what I can do to contribute in this encounter and fighting isn't it.

Edit:

Besides setting the webs on fire has there been any noticeable effect to what Gabe pulled off?

I feel like there has to be something mechanically wrong with Toramin using Ymir as a flanking partner who can't be targeted like that. Not that I don't like it, it's actually pretty cool, but it seems like something highly abusable. Especially with teamwork feats.

Male Grizzly Bear 3 | HP: 30/30 l AC: 19 /T: 12/FF: 17 l Fort: +4, Ref: +5, W: +4 l Init: +2 l Per: +5; Low-light vision; Scent l Movement: 40

Well in theory he'd provoke moving in and out of melee but Acera doesn't have a weapon right?

Male Dwarf Paladin (Stonelord) 11 l HP: 105/105 (127/127) l Init: +1 l AC: 30 (44 v giants) [T: 12 (14); FF: 27; CMD: 29/33(43)] l Fort: +13 (+15), Ref: +7, W: +9 (+11) (All saves increase by +5 for p, sp, and spls) l DR: 5 (Adamantine) l Per: -1

I promise to never take a teamwork feat, and I don't think Ymmir can take feats? Can he?

But mechanically, it is sound, Ymmir is just taking two move actions. I'm just hoping she doesn't have Move Earth memorized.

Male Dwarf Paladin (Stonelord) 11 l HP: 105/105 (127/127) l Init: +1 l AC: 30 (44 v giants) [T: 12 (14); FF: 27; CMD: 29/33(43)] l Fort: +13 (+15), Ref: +7, W: +9 (+11) (All saves increase by +5 for p, sp, and spls) l DR: 5 (Adamantine) l Per: -1

And Bjorkus is totally right about provoking.

No, Acera is not currently holding a weapon so he doesn't provoke.

Bed time, g'night all.

Male Grizzly Bear 3 | HP: 30/30 l AC: 19 /T: 12/FF: 17 l Fort: +4, Ref: +5, W: +4 l Init: +2 l Per: +5; Low-light vision; Scent l Movement: 40

With how nuts theses encounters are I wouldn't be surprised if we jumped two levels.

Wouldn't that be sweet.

Male Tiefling Paladin 7 Tiefling, Init +0, Hp: 67/67, AC: 21/Touch: 10/ Flatfooted: 21, Resist 5: Fire, Electricity; Fort: 11/Ref: 6/ Will: 9, CMD: 21, Perception +0 (+2); Loh 6/10 day, Smite 2/3 day, Shatter 0/1 day

I think they meant that normally the movement, both in and out, would provoke AoO's. Against someone with a weapon this sort of flanking would put Ymir at horrible risk every time he rose up or went down. You can't even argue that he's stealthing or concealing if he does it more then once, though maybe the first time the person would be flat footed to it.

It's a tactically awesome thing that will come up sometimes, be useful, but also be too risky for other occasions.
