Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss good night
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Some of you I selected because your background was so keyed into teh campaign, others I selected because your background gave me enough to work with on my own.
There will be some VERY interesting interactions early on here to say the least...
Gamemaster Zimovat Vyetyer |
Those of you who have played with me before will know this game will not be starting in a Tavern in Heldren with you all together. ;-)
Grievous Norn |
The hobgoblin bows, with a rotten-toothed smile. She was attractive for a goblinoid, and could stand on standard with an average human. She wore black robes and waited for others to arrive. so, was mine one you can work with, or one that links? ^-^
Hendra Krammier |
A hooded figure dressed in loose fitting dark clothes approaches. At a distance she might pass for yet another weary traveler walking the road, if it wasn't for the large scythe resting on her shoulder as she walks.
Pulling back her hood to get a better look at a sign, she reveals her long ivory white hair. Her scarf almost covers the too dark skin... but nothing can cover the glowing red eyes staring over the scarf at the sign.
"How hard is it to find a small town in this forsaken place? For all their vaunted talk about being an 'empire' once, Taldor certainly is no where near deserving the title now."
Freyr Elvanna |
Pale. If any word can describe the warrior it's pale, from his platinum blonde hair to his skin to his sky blue eyes. Despite that, there's a hardness to his gaze and a wary edge to the way he looks around.
---
Given my background, I think I can guess which one my character is.

Workin' :-)

Grey Eht and Lurruk. I am bringing you both together as recent acquaintances in Heldren. Grey, you will be the only "true" local, I put true in quotes as you based on your wandering background have been here for only several months.
Faethara |
The elf stands, relaxed, strong in both body and mind. She's young for an elf but probably older than you, and it shows in her intelligent dark eyes. "Well, shall we get a move on, then?"
--
Thank you for choosing me, GM, I'm super-excited. It might have taken me a good minute after reading Hendra's profile to remember that I'm playing a surface elf. This should certainly be interesting, Faethara may be tolerant of alternative methods but she's also got evidence that Drow are dangerous and treacherous. Won't start a fight but won't be buddy-buddy straight out of the gate, either :P

Don't worry, Hendra's not going to be overly thrilled with you at first either :-)
Frjya Elvanna |
Okay so, quick bit for the rest of you as the GM already knows. I will be gone from the 19th to the 21st. I will be going to my friend's memorial. We drive down the 19th, the memorial is the 20th, we come back the 21st. I will not be on at all the 20th but the hotel does have wifi so if I can manage I will try to be one after we get there the 19th and before we leave the 21st.

That is an understatement. She is unlikely to initially get along with anyone that has magical aptitude.... which I think is just about everyone, yes? Nothing personal, its just any one of you could be her mark and she really can't afford to mess this up.
Lurruk |
I just wanted to say thanks for the invite! I am really excited for this group- looks like a lot of really interesting characters assembled here.
And good call on hooking Lurruk up with Grey Eht- makes perfect sense to me.
Lanyssa |
Oh, man, is this going to be awesome...
Just woke up and had a nice surprise like in Christmas morning :) Going straight to post on Gameplay.
Hendra Krammier |
Hah, makes it so that we no longer have to spoil everything... and what happened to the update notifications? If I wasn't checking the threads out of boredom I would have missed the new posts.

Soon no more spoilers :-)
All dots for everyone have dropped, it seems we'll get them back tomorrow, I hope!

Supposedly it is going to be fixed tomorrow... they didn't want to apply the fix they made with everyone about to head out the door in case something broke. Well, broke worse than current form.
Hendra Krammier |
So would Hendra, Grey and Lurruk see the twins as they enter? I kinda get the sense that this is a very small town, so unless we already got inside our destinations before they arrive "on stage" I would assume so... still, looking forward to officially meeting them.

Well Grey and Lurruk are about to while you are about to have an appointment with Councilor Teppen :-)
Grievous Norn |
Realized something: I get a +2 against Hex's and Fey abilities, but a -2 against charms if they promise money/power. A way to cancel my bonus out, if its a hex/Fey. Cast charm/suggestion(and not have it be a fey ability) and use that right up. Although it is helpful, I made sure to balance it with my drawback.
Gamemaster Zimovat Vyetyer |
I'm enjoying it, feels more organic then all of us just randomly starting together.
Yep, that's why I do it this way. :-)
Start us out slower but I think it allows you time to get a feel for the character and creates a sense of realism in fantasy, as much as a elves, drow, and witches (that cast real magic spells) can feel real anyway!
Gamemaster Zimovat Vyetyer |
Hmm... seems my response may have been eaten <_<
Damn you post monster!!!!
Hendra Krammier |
So a note about Hendra's speech pattern. She speaks common without an accent, but I am deliberately making her outside voice to be missing conjunctions and words occasionally to indicate that it isn't her first language. Which is not to say that she isn't fluent enough in it, just that she is 1) having to take her time with sentences more, and 2) not always correct on sentence structure. Her primary language is Elvish, with Undercommon as a close second.
Most of you would pick up on the fact that she isn't a native common speaker I think, though without an accent you might not pick up what her primary language is.
Grievous Norn |
For those who wish to know how Greivous will turn out, she is an attacker. All her Hex will focus on damage and attack, save for that I'm Taking the control weather later on, as well as the Natrual Disaster as a Grand hex. So you may want to keep away from enemies at later levels, because I'm gonna be doing ALOT of AOE. At least if they're in groups.
Hendra Krammier |
Well, they are all in a room together, so it gives them time to get to know each other with little outside interaction. Well, as long as they have questions that is.
Hendra Krammier |
So on the topic of combat styles, Hendra is practically a walking arsenal. Her scythe is her obvious weapon, given it is large enough that she either has to have in hand or set it down, but also visible are her short sword, bandolier (containing five daggers), and pair of light hammers.
Her armor is not visible, being covered by her loose clothing and cloak. These are also used to conceal her hand crossbow (the bolts are actually in her wrist sleeves for more convenient retrieval). Additionally her scarf is not just used to conceal her face... it has pockets used to conceal her pair of star knives.
She will probably be closer to the front, but it is worth noting that most of her weapons (excepting the scythe and short sword) have the ability to be thrown at various range increments... and Nimble Moves makes that an easier proposition.
Lurruk |
Lurruk will be secondary melee and support. His battle spirit is basically a bard's inspire courage: +1 attack/damage for everyone within 30'. Not many rounds per day though.
