August Autumnwind |
After a short time Rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 2 August tries to play off the fact that he was scared witless, or at least more witless than usual.
Sarsczek |
Sarsczek stands, holding his antiplague with his tail about to drink it when Owyn cleanly bisects the mummy. He corks the vial, but keeps it in his tail's grip.
"Well? Whass inside?"
He stands back from the mold, gets up on his tippy-toes, and peers into the sarcophagus.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
"So... 1 more sarcky-fie-guy left... think dere's a mummy in there too August?"
Sense Motive on August: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
"You okie buddy?"
Unnvar the Solemn |
Will DC 16: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 4 = 15
rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 3
For some reason the look of this last mummy brought back bad memories for Unnvar, he stand paralyzed in fear for a few moments.
Since we are out of combat, I'm guessing this can wear off.
Unnvar shakes of the strange feeling.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 13 + 4 = 32
Unnvar having collected the gold necklace off the previous mummy, pulls this mummy away from the new brown mold.
Don't use fire, that makes the brown mold spread.
Unnvar cast detect magic on the band with a small box strapped to the mummy's head, and the 2 gold necklaces. While calling attention to it too the others.
Look this one is wearing a strange box on his head.
Owyn Moravic |
Almost forgot but I have resistance cold/5 so it'll actually be 12 points of damage.
Owyn presses his hand to his chest and mutters a quick prayer. Almost instantly the frostburn begins to retreat from his skin.
Lay on Hands: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 1) = 15
As soon as he's done, he'll do the same to Clandelve.
Lay on Hands: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 2) = 10
Seeing further damage to the dwarf's skin, he'll offer one more prayer.
Lay on Hands: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2, 5) = 16
With that done, Owyn falls into prayer once more, casting resist energy (cold) upon himself before turning to nod at Unnvar as he says "Duly noted. I'll sheath the flames on my weapon for this next one."
Unnvar the Solemn |
Anything revealed with detect magic
Take 10 on Perception for 27
It seems that when we got within about 10 feet of the corpse that it awakened both mummies.
Unnvar the Solemn |
Unnvar examines the phylactery.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Gimble, The Storyteller |
To make it easy (so we don't have to worry about dealing and healing additional damage), I'll assume Owyn grabbed the Phylactery before he moved away from the mold and handed it to Unnvar to examine.
@Unnvar: It gives off a Moderate Necromancy aura. You feel you almost know what it is, you know you've read about it somewhere, but can't quite bring the knowledge forward to identify it.
August Autumnwind |
So do we need to take that thingy with us? What else we need doin'?
Unnvar the Solemn |
That's cool, or I also posted I pulled the mummy's body away from the new brown mold, I guess if it is on the dead mummy, then this makes more sense.
Elaqis look at this phylactery. I think I've heard about something like this but I just can't recall the details, have you heard of it before.
Handing the item to Elaqis to examine.
Clandelve Hammerhand |
Clandelve thanks Owyn for the healing.
The dwarf looks nervously at the magical item as the others examine it.
Do we have one more mummy to fight? Ready when you guys are. I'll go ahead and open the last one once everyone's set.
Sarsczek |
Sarsczek looks at Clandelve and grins. "Okie, lemme juss drink this. You pop the top and I'll make 'im mad. 'S long as Oh-win is right behind us, we be just fine."
Sarsczek drinks his antiplague, and then moves forward with Clandelve, on the opposite side of the room in order to get himself a flank. He'll try to put himself on the open side of the coffin, in an attempt to put himself between his allies and this monster.
I now have a +16 to fort vs disease.
August Autumnwind |
Seeing Sarsczek using antiplague, August rummages through his belongings and produces a vial of the liquid and drinks it also. I guess if you're doin' it, I oughta do it too!
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Elaqis:Aid Unnvar Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Unnvar takes the headband to Elaqis to look at. The two are discussing it, when Elaqis says something that triggers Unnvar's memory, and he recalls the item as a Phylactery Of Positive Channeling.
Go ahead and figure out where you want to be. Anyone who passes by or is adjacent to the brown mold (brown square on map) will take Cold Damage. 10' from the mummy on the map will trigger initiative.
Unnvar the Solemn |
Unnvar hands the Phylactery to Owyn.
This may be of use to you Owyn.
Quickly explaining it's usefulness to the Paladin.
Clandelve Hammerhand |
I think we're going to have to take the cold damage unless we have a way to disable it, no? Either that, or I can run up next to the mummy and tank it while everyone whittles it down from range?
Sarsczek |
Unnvar, August and I can tank the mummy as well. We're pretty much safe against it's disease. I also have Cold Resist 5.
Sarsczek waits for at least one other party member to make their move, then moves forward adjacent to the final tomb and prepares to rend it.
"Ready when you are boss."
Sarsczek |
Should work, although ask in character. Sarszcek hasn't been able to sound like enough of an idiot lately.
Unnvar the Solemn |
Sounds good Elaqis, go ahead, I would like to get a look at an ice mephit.
Elaqis Teletaire |
You'd be less inclined if you Had seen one. Highly overrated." Elaqis says as he gives a backhanded wave to Amar, who vanishes. The gnome's eyes shut as he cocks his head and moves his hand rapidly through the air. Then with a forceful jab of a finger, he points in the direction of the sarcopoghi and a small blue winged humanoid appears.
In AuranHey there. Simple enough task for you today to the point I can't imagine you could screw it up if you tried. Just breath on that brown fungus there to chill it off. That's it. Got it?
An ice mephit appears! (Who I'd add to the map but I'm on my phone and won't get home till late)
August Autumnwind |
I ain't afraid of this one, or that brown stuff. Lemme at it!
Gimble, The Storyteller |
The ice mephit breathes on the mold, instantly destroying it. The group rushes forward to meet the last mummy. I hope my arrangement of the players is ok. I placed Owyn in the middle so everyone can benefit from his aura, and Elaqis is 35' away, outside the mummy's fear aura.
The mummy awakens, its red eyes peering through the brown mold that covers its body.
Everyone but Elaqis needs to make a Will Save. All are within range of Owyn's aura and gain a +4 to their roll.

Elaqis Teletaire |
Elaqis rolls his eyes at the mephit's paralysis as he begins casting a spell. Just before he starts uttering the magic words he calls out to Unnvar: "See, this is what I'm talking about! Still, let's hurry this up."
Casting haste on the party.
Owyn Moravic |
Immunity to fear!
Owyn moves around the sarcophagus and swings at the mummy with his longsword, keeping in mind not to activate the fire.

Something about these Mummies and the cold in getting to Unnvar, he stands there paralyzed with fear as the others move in to attack,
Sarsczek |
Sarsczek moves up with August, then vaults over the Sarcophagus and rolls off behind the Mummy, attempting to make his movments quick enough to avoid exposing himself to more harm than usual.
Acrobatics to tumble through a threatened square: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Once behind the creature, he - as per usual - takes a big bite out of it!
Bite + Flank + Haste - Power Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 11

As the sight of a 3rd mummy unnerves Unnvar, Sarsczek moves in, but as he goes to bite the mummy a loose wrapping catches him right in the mouth and his attack is foiled.

Unnvar the Solemn |
Unnvar shakes off the fear, unaccustomed to lacking bravery; but things have been different from time to time since exploring the Ruins of Bonekeep.
Drawing his Wand of Cure Light Wounds.
Feel free to roll how many heals you need.
Who needs patched up? Those frost burns can be painful.
Once any healing is done, assuming the others will as well, Unnvar gets a look at the 3rd sarcophagus and 3rd mummy's body.
Take 10 on perception, for 27
Then after that Unnvar will check the double door for traps and to see if it is locked.
Check for Traps: 1d20 + 13 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 4 + 4 = 30
August Autumnwind |
August would welcome the healing.
CLW: 7d8 + 7 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 2, 3, 6, 2) + 7 = 28 7 charges, thank you.
So we goin' that way? Tell me if its safe and all that and I'll open her up!
Sarsczek |
After a quick patch up, Sarsczek takes a look through the sarcophagus, checking for anything else of value.
CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5) + 2 = 12 2 charges.
Once he's sure that everyone of value has been recorded, he moves up and gives a second opinion on the door, then checks to see if it's locked.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 3 = 19
"Looks good tah me. Ima bet the real treasure is in there!"
Unnvar the Solemn |
Hang on just a second August, let me make sure it's safe to open. Unnvar carefully studies around the door.
Elaqis Teletaire |
Elaqis moves to brush off the dirt from his coat, until he realizes he was not actually scuffed in the last fight. He calls out to the mephit. "So, just one more patch to -" only to realize that the mephit is still frozen in fear.
"Ugh, oh come now. Aren't your lot meant to be mostly immortal? You've never seen a mummy before?" He sighs. "Fine. When you shake it off, just remove that last mold then back to the Air. No scary undead there." Rolling his eyes, the gnome moves forward once the brown mold is finally cleared.
Unnvar the Solemn |
Looks okay, August, go ahead and opener up.
Unnvar steps back and lets the dwarf lead the way.
August Autumnwind |
August does as he is told! Maybe I could work for Unnvar! He seems like a good liege-type ta me.
Gimble, The Storyteller |
August opens the door:
This chamber was once the equal to the fake treasure chamber in true grandeur, but the marshy environment has done its work well—the tops of the treasure shelves are mere islands in the stagnant water. Most of the shelves are empty, with only a few treasures remaining. The grand, rune-covered sarcophagus of the Dog Pharaoh lies open on its dais.
6d20 ⇒ (17, 2, 14, 20, 19, 16) = 88
Everyone make Perception checks:
You notice the water has a slight current moving toward the eastern wall of this room.
I will be out of town until Sunday night. Might not be able to post until Monday morning.
Unnvar the Solemn |
Unnvar peers into the once grand treasure room.
Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36 +4 vs. Traps
Drawing attention to his observation, Look it seems there is a slight current toward the eastern wall, Elaqis you got anything you can send in and scout around?
