Hi Warhawk - Xim is about 70% there.

Still need to do:
* Traits
* buy equipment
* choose/refluff spells
* Choose skills: Open to advice on this one. Are there skills that are important for shipboard roles other than Pilot? Are we following the SW: Saga rules where skills just apply to ships to? Like using Stealth for hiding the ship?
Planning to be able to: Diplomacy, Bluff, Hide, 1 point in Pilot, 1 point in Use Tech, Perform Oratory

Some questions:
Guns - Do chemical pistols have a misfire chance like normal PF?

Are energy pistols Martial Weapons? I would swear that I saw a house-rule feat for e-weapon proficiency, but I couldn't find it as I went to bed last night. I am having a little trouble figuring out which guns fall inside the "Martial" weapons catagory and which are outside.

How does adamanite armor or a barbarian's DR or an ageis's DR and class based armor,

Yes. "Magic" works differently. No one is exactly sure why/how it works like that. But that's what "magic" armors were created for. Now, if the armor has Energy Resistance, it is resisted by the energy from a scorching ray spll or alchemical fire like normal. Energy resistance has no effect on energy-based weapons.

Adamantine armor is considered DR/- and pretty much is never bypassed unless the creature/weapon involved is gargantuan in size.

Barbarian's DR and Aegis' DR stack with armor DR and natural armor.

A monk's bonus AC, gunslinger's nimble bonus, and other class bonuses to AC get added to the character's Defense score.

Yes. Standard firearms have a misfire chance. Being advanced firearms, it's not that much of an issue.

Energy-based weapons require their own feat. Under the Feats section and the feat is a list of classes that it is a class skill for.

Oh, and I'll allow a synergy bonus between Diplomacy and Perform (Oratory).

To clarify, do grenades cost ten percent of Technology Guide cost?

Yes. They are considered Technological Gear in the book, so 10% of listed price. Rather than 750 for the standard ones, they cost 75.

Okay. here goes.

My idea is based of a very old cartoon. 80s show :P

Going Human Hunter with animal companion that can transform
primal companion hunter archetype

Will use a pistol and a energy weapon battle axe

When companion transforms, eidolon rules, companion will be humanoid horse with a big heavy rifle. heavy weapon

I'll see what I can do about a "careful shot" type feat later today, got a couple of ideas on it. Likely a feat chain, with BaB requirements and maybe weapon focus as well.

I bought some gear.

Skills. As a slayer with trapfinding I figure I am pushing the the sneaky commando skill set. However just finding traps and disable device felt like I needed some additional skills dealing with computers or security systems. Is that one or two skills and what stat are they based on or are they covered under disable device?

It's me, Elf King. I'm still working on my character. Still a medic guy, but yeah.

Disable Device is used for security systems, Use Tech is for computers. Like the synergy bonus above, there is one for these two.

Basically, you gain half your Use Tech skill bonus (rounded down) and add it to Disable Device checks with computer security systems.

What is the relevant skill for Use Tech?
Is Use Tech a slayer skill?

Did I miss a skills section among your links?

I know you mentioned pilot as a skill and its dex based. Is that a Slayer skill?

What does pilot cover? Is it just space ships or would it also apply to speeder bikes and other vehicles?

Sorry for the questions just trying to get a feel for what I can do.

I'll just have Use Computer be a class skill for all classes except any barbarian-type classes.

Cool.

What stat does Use Tech use?

Is pilot for all types of vehicles or just space ships?

I think I need to withdraw at this time. I like the concept of the game a lot, I just don't have anything else to give just now.

Good luck everyone!

Use Computer is an Int based skill.

I am game mechanically pretty much done, GM. I just have to commit Kunga's back story and description to writing. Is the format acceptable?

Edit: Do we have a gunsmith? We will probably need one...

Aww, okay Vixen. There goes the Noble.

Pilot is for all vehicles.

And apparently I need to work on the Skills section of the Campaign Guide.

I'll do that shortly.

Ok, magic being weird makes enough sense.
So a lightning gun can hurt a lightning elemental?
And really big things now bypass previously unbypassable DR?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

If I understand it right, the lightning elemental is naturally immune to electricity and as a consequence would take no damage from a lightning gun.

That's how I understand the dr rules, so I think you are right.

Oh, whoops, missed that line.

Thinking on it, making that difference doesn't make a lot of sense to me, seems a needless over complication to have to remember. But I'll take it if it means my character's weakness to fire is not such a problem. All those lasers would be incredibly painful.

It's probably somewhere else and I haven't read it, but can Templars afford an 800 credit energy sword? My healer guy is going to be a kind of northern psychic shaman.

Templars can get an energy sword for 25% of the price.

@Warhawk - How much do modern bullets cost?
Standard pathfinder rules say: 1.5 Cr per shot. Seems pricey for the most common weapon type in the galaxy.

I think I am done once I have bought bullets

Ammo costs 1 credits for a clip of 10 pistol rounds, and 3 credits per clip of 10 rifle rounds. Standard firearms have magazines, and you fill the magazines with the clips of ammo.

Perfect, Thanks!

I used a 20 pt buy for stats. I hope that was correct.
For my Mundane future Rapier and StarKnife I used double damage die.
Please let me know if I need to change things.

Working on history by the end of the weekend.

It was 25 point buy.

Sure you didn't want to do Picaroon swashbuckler? They get to use their guns with their swashbuckler deeds. Also get free weapon finesse when wielding a 1h light piercing weapon and two-weapon fighting with a light 1h piercing weapon and a 1h firearm.

Any thoughts on my char idea?

I'd have to see it written out as a character Seth86.

Okay will try to write it up asap

The problem with the Picaroon is that you loose some of the better swashbuckler deeds in trade for deeds that overcome Pathfinder limitations that are house-ruled out of this game.

Since basic swashbuckler comes with Swashbuckler finesse, which also lets me use Charisma for Int in combat feats. That's a much better deal, since it's only a feat to pick up 2 weapon fighting if I want it down the road.

25 pts. Yay! I guess I am not done.

Fair enough.

Okay. Here is a bit of a short just to get the ball rolling

Human Hunter. He is a marshal. Sent out to try and keep order. He has a companion, mechanical looking horse. Some form of tech. They share a close bond. In some cases his deputy.

In dire times his companion would transform, into a more humanoid creature, wielding a large energy rifle. Together they uphold the law.

the verse is a big place...

If I have 10 dusters, will I have a DR of 10?

I wish I had thought of that! ;) I should buy 11 armored dusters in case we end up fighting each other. Then I will have the advantage.

*facepalm*

Lol

That works but the check goes up exponentially. So you couldn't move. ;)

Shadow Lodge

Well there are armies without arnor check penalties.

Ok, Think I am done now.

Backstory:

A tall slender man stands at the front counter of a pawn shop. He is looking at a sword and after a time he asks if he can examine it more closely. Bending over he examines the sword as if it was a long lost treasure, or a child. As he examines it, he makes idle conversation with the pawnbroker. This is what he tells the broker:

"No, Lieutenant, that won't be necessary, commence landing procedures as planned." It was not the sentence I expected to end my career, render it short and ignominious, and leave me in the brig for 7 years. That sentence was the first pebble in the avalanche that destroyed my life, and left me here on the fringe looking for work, estranged from all humanity.

To begin with, I should probably tell you where I come from. Glisten is a world, not in the strict planetary sense of the world, but it's a political body of people that live in the Glisten system, as part of the Derutei Imperium. Glisten is ruled by a Duke, and administered by the Moot. A council of 39 royal families that were given the system 5 centuries ago. Physically, Glisten is a system of some small rock worlds, 3 gas giants and an asteroid belt.

For more than 5 centuries, the Glisten System has been a Jewel in the crown of the rule of man. The Grapthar family, what I used to call my family, has ruled from 230º - 240º of the asteroid belt for more than 1500 years, and has military tradition stretching back to the Terran Alliance. Now my Uncle Atherton rules the system as the Imperial Governor, allowing megacorporations to rape and pillage the wealth of the system. I’m getting ahead of myself, that all happened while I was in the brig.

Since we have no inhabited planets, the people of glisten live their whole life on spaceships and stations. Because of that, the nobles of Glisten have a long, proud tradition of serving as the officers the Glisten System Navy. Like all the systems in the Imperium, Glisten Navy officers are expected to train with the Imperial Navy. When my turn came, I did my duty, and was assigned as one of the hundreds of Lieutenants aboard the DISS Devastator. I don’t know if it was the luck of the draw, or if it was considered a comendation assignment, but I was assigned as shuttle commander to deliver Admiral Tarkasis to accept the surrender of the planet Vland. As we approached the landing pad, it became clear that protesters had swarmed the landing pad, making a safe landing impossible. As shuttle commander, it was my duty to inform the Admiral of the situation, and ask permission to revise the flight plan and land at a secondary landing sight. I didn’t believe what I was hearing even as Tarkasis said it, "No, Lieutenant, that won't be necessary, commence landing procedures as planned." I protested, and he cut me off, relieved me of duty and had me arrested on the spot.

I don’t really know what the dates are for what happened in the next 7 years. I was in the brig, and at some point I was transferred to the institution and experimented on. I don’t remember much of anything about that time. Pain inside of me so tremendous that I blocked it out. Lights, colors, sensations, maybe feelings, that’s all that remains of the me that was. Sometime while I was in there, Governor Atherton executed the coup that overthrew the Glisten Government. For all I know he had me sent to the institution as part of that plot.

At some point I came back to myself in the institution. I’m not the same as I was. My senses are sharper, I’m faster, the bright light hurts my eyes. From what I could piece together, just snippets of overheard conversation as I pretended to be asleep. They were using me as a test subject to figure out what happened on Terra… trying to understand the curse of undeath… somehow, they gave it to me. I heard a name, Doctor Qua’Rhee, sometimes they said Qua’Rhee the Butcher. Qua’Rhee gave me whatever it is that brings the dead back. As I came to my senses, I could feel the other undead in the neighboring rooms. At some point they moved me for some treatment or another, I don’t know what it was, but I saw my opportunity and struck. The orderlies had been expecting a nearly unconscious patient, my combat reflexes came back to me as I struck. I don’t know if I killed them. But I took their uniforms and IDs and made my way out of the institution in a supply shuttle. I had to kill 7 more guards on my way out. From there, it was easy to find passage to Glisten. En route I learned about what my uncle had done.

When I got to the Glisten station, the primary center of life in the system. I was able to contact old friends of the family. They wanted nothing to do with me… between my name and my pathetic career as a naval officer, knowing me was death sentence. But I found out who had killed my family, the Jormungand… Oh, I see you know them. Well, I left the system on a hunt for them. One at a time… in the dark… alone… I found them; The officers of the Jormungand Company. Until one of them revealed who he sold my mother’s sword to. He said he sold it to a pawn shop here, on Unsho. Now, let us discuss the price of this sword; and as we do, please remember, I have nothing left to lose.

Shadow Lodge

Gah autocorrect, I meant to say armors not armies.

Okay, Recruitment is now CLOSED.

I'm PMing the 5 that are in the game. If you didn't get in this game, I may run another in this setting sometime in the future if this game pans out well.

Thank you for your interest in this.

Elf King/Chaali, I can't send a PM. You were the only one that was a must to have as you were the only healer to apply. Head to the discussion thread and check in.

Shadow Lodge

Cool, have fun y'all,

Heading on over to the discussion thread...

Should be able to choose the discussion tab at the top now. If not you may need to refresh the screen.

Ods bodkins. Wish I would have caught this sooner. Can't find anything else like it on the boards.\¤/

It would appear as though we are now in need of a new player for this game. Therefore, I am looking for someone to fill in the spot. This may or may not be a first come/first serve opportunity. I will be holding recruitment open for one week maximum. Please follow the guidelines a the beginning of the Recruitment Thread.

Other information not included on the first post:

25 Point Buy
Please use This Character Sheet template when making your alias.
Any race from any Sci-fi franchise is authorized (Mass Effect, Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, etc...), although the creation of your own is highly encouraged (using the Santiago alien race builder). I have racial stats for quite a few races, so if you are interested in one, please let me know and I'll get those stats to you.

Shadow Lodge

What level have you reached now? And what position on the ship did they hold.
