You know, thinking on it, while Fraejia is likely immune to the disease itself, she should make one hell of an incubator due to racial reasons. Typhoid Mary will look like a sissy little baby in comparison.

Chaali turns to his fellow escapees and whispers, "Don't worry, comrades. I'm about to make him an offer he can't refuse." He turns in the direction of the loud speaker, and says, "Now mister ... doctor man. I'm a reasonable Vukii, but I've recently seen some very unreasonable things. Now, I'm not sure if you're lying about this cure or not; we could be as infected as much as I trust the Derutei with my locker combination. But we sure as frell are going to get this cure if we do have a disease of sorts. Hand it over, please."

The only response to Chaali's challenge and ultimatum is unnerving silence... not even a hint of static. Everything is silent. Then, after a moment, a loud sound originating from the hub echoes off of the walls.

There is still one more room available to check in the Maintenance section - the one across from the room you are currently in.

"It might not do us any good at this point, but we should try to get another mask." said Kunga as he holstered his zero pistol and drew his tomahawk. He used the tomahawk to try to open one of the remaining lockers to get a mask for the last of the escapees.

Getting extremely irritated about the whole situation, Fraejia starts angrily muttering in her own language a large number of what must be vicious expletives about the situation. It almost sounds like a massive collision of glaciers, earthquakes, and other natural disasters colliding in an orgy of destruction and death.

"They are testing us or testing whatever monster is in the lab the data pad mentioned something in the science now our captor mentions the cure there. We are meant to test it. . . Or feed it."

After a few moments of looking for hidden attackers Xim gives up and says,"Maybe he just wants us to kill the escaped creature so he can have his lab back. Qua'Ree cannot be trusted; but I don't think we have much choice." He puts his sword away and heads for the door to the lab, resigned to his fate.


Kunga's tomahawk slice through the relatively thin locker with ease giving him easy access to the contents inside.

Kunga took the ion tape and the zipstick. "Shall we explore the rest of this level?" he said, and he cautiously and quietly returned to the corridor on his way to the other room.

Finally collecting herself, Fraejia looks around, "If this...disease...is as lethal as that thing claims it is, then we had best be finding the cure. It may not kill me, but I don't want to be trapped here forever to keep it from spreading." With that, she heads back to the previous room where there was a locked door and checks it to see if it has unlocked.

Kunga drew his pistols and stood behind Fraejia while she did her thing. He was ready to shoot whatever creatures they encountered next.


The door before Kunga was slightly ajar, providing just enough room to peek inside. Beyond the door the room was dark, the food processor's light providing very little light to make out any details.

The door can be pried open, or opened via another means.

"It is so dark in the next room. I cannot see very much," said Kunga in a hushed voice. He could still 'see' farther than most thanks to his sensitive antennae (low-light vision), but not far enough. Would one of you please shine your flashlight, which some of you designate 'torch', into the next room so that we can see what there is to see?

Fraejia peaks in through the door as well to see what she can see in the darkness.

Freajia:
Peering through the slight gap, you can see that this room was a lounge of sorts. Food processors lined the far wall, while a large table an chairs dominated the center of the room. At the far end of the lounge you could see a hallway with a handful of doors to either side. Judging by the nature of this section, you assume that the doors lead to temporary sleeping quarters or refreshers for extended shift workers.

Looking back at everyone, "Seems we have found the old dormitory. There are a few doors further in that may be to bunk rooms. Shall we go check it out?"

"Absolutely. After you, Fraejia." With Kunga's face still aglow, he would be able to see close threats (twice candle range, IIRC). The ice queen could be the group's eyes and ears for what lay beyond their vision. He was ready to follow her lead.

Chaali follows Kunga and Fraejia. He stumbles a bit over odds and ends. "Man, I wish I could see in the dark like you guys. Oh yeah ..." Feeling stupid, Chaali pulls out a flshlight. "What would I do without you, buddy."

Can the energy sword be used as a light source?

Xim grabs the crowbar and starts working on widening the opening in the door.

If Xim failed:
Fraejia grabs the edge of the door and starts trying to open it further when Xim fails to move it.

Fraejia gets ready to enter the rooms and search, leading the way as requested since the lack doesn't affect her vision as much as most of the others.

Kunga stood silently waiting to act with guns still at the ready.


While Xim merely managed to pry the door loose, Fraejia surprises everyone with her strength and slides the door open.

As the group cautiously moved into the dark room, the light panels on the ceiling flickered to life, bathing the room in a soft white glow.

The room was obviously a break area for the maintenance crews that once worked here. A handful of chairs and small couches sat in the middle of the room flanking a round table with a deck of sabacc cards splayed out across the top. Against one wall was a counter with a sink, a refrigerator, and food processors. Another wall was dominated by a large vidscreen.

Looking down the hallway you can see a door at the end, with two doors on either side of the hallway along its length.

Looking around the room, "I don't see much here and since it seems like we are on a rather definite time table, we should probably make our way to those doors and check them."

Lazarus Xim nods to his frosty friend in agreement and moves down the hall to the doors, weapons at the ready.

Kunga followed Fraejia down the hall.

Chaali follows everyone else down the corridor. He holds his purple energy sword at the ready.

All of the doors in the hallway are unlocked. The four rooms on the sides reveal themselves to be dormitory rooms with four beds each, a footlocker at the base of each bed. All but one appear to be unlocked. The ones that are unlocked are all empty save for some clothes of various sizes for multiple species. Nothing else seems to be of any value witu a cursory glance.

Kunga entered the rooms whose doors were unlocked and examined the footlockers in these rooms more closely.

Both my use tech and mechanics are +6 if Disable Device is separate I will reallocate so I have that too.

Lazarus searches the last room... he doesn't bother to turn on lights, depending on his low-light and darkvision.

Hopefully we've just used up all of our bad luck. ;)


By searching through the rooms, you manage to find three credchips with equaling a total of 348 credits hidden among the rooms. Nothing else of note can be found in the rooms. It would appear as though a a all of the valuables left in the dormitory rooms were consolidated into the locked footlocker.

Fraejia, defeated in her earlier search, goes to take a look at the locked foot locker.

Despite her best efforts she can not seem to get it open either. In her anger with all that has happened, she decides it is time to break something so she works her claws into the seem as best she can and attempts to rip it open.

You know you can always take 20 on Disable Device checks. It would be considered 2 minutes worth of time

Oh, didn't think you could. In that case I'll do that instead.


Fraejia knelt down and concentrated, clearly irritated at the difficulty that the lock had given her. After a couple of minutes of tinkering with it she managed to disable the lock, granting her access to the items stored inside.

Inside, she found:

  • A handful of credchips totalling 1452 credits.
  • A Mark II Skillchip (mechanics)
  • A pair of veemod goggles with a green veemod.
  • A Grade I hemochem.
  • An arc pistol with three power packs and a holster belt.
  • Two grenades (1 arc, 1 emp].

Nothing else of note is left inside the footlocker.

"Whoever is scouting ahead should take the goggles... Assuming we get out of here, we can divide up the credits. Are we ready to get moving?" Xim motions to the door back the way the group came.

Kunga admired the goggles. According to his calculations, goggles were cool. "I will take the goggles if you do not want them, Fraejia." Once the group had pocketed all of the chips and Chaali had equipped himself with the new blaster, Kunga started walking down the corridor.

After equipping yourselves you approach the last door in the corridor--the one at the far end. Easily seen by everyone,there is a slight layer of frost on the door. On the door there is a sign with a single word written in Deruteian, like all the other writing in this facility.

Terz looks at the door. "Showers. . . not sure why the'd have a layer of frost?"

Knowing now what the room is for after Terz says, Fraejia seems both curious and worried about what is in front of her, "A frozen shower room? I didn't do it this time Laz, so don't ask." Looking back to everyone, "You might want to stand back, since we don't know what happened and cold is my domain." She cautiously checks the door for any traps before she tests the lock.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10


Fraejia finds nothing out of the ordinary with the door. It appears to be a standard door that might lead to any common showers in any sandard Imperium garrison. The only difference, however, is the thin coat of frost blanketing the door. A test of the handle reveals the door to be unlocked.
