(Male Human Sorcerer 2 Arcane Bloodline)

Sorry for not posting - failed my fort save vs. flu last week...
Aerys looks curiously at Corey's statement for a brief instant, then hurls a bolt of energy at one of the skittering horrors attacking Ad'ifaah.

Magic Missle at S1 (or S2 if S1 already down)
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

(Male Half-ElF Fighter 2)

Also fighting a winter illness here, sorry for the dealy.

Ricven tries again to cleave the spiders attacking him.

power attack cleave 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Damage 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 6) + 10 = 17
power attack cleave 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Damage 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 6) + 10 = 18

Ok, I'll move us along

Abernathus kills the spider in front of him and Shol'a'saul fatigues her target as well. Corey continues to mutter to himself almost as if he is arguing with himself. Aeleanor slides into a flanking position and slashes at another spider. Though she misses a vital spot, she still is able to cut the spider in half.

Aeleanor vs spider 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
confirm crit 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
damage 1d10 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + (5) = 15

Unfazed by their losses, the remaining spiders continue their mindless attack. But the results remain the same :)

spider vs Ad'ifaah 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
spider vs Ricven 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

I will say the remaining two die as I do not foresee them surviving all of your attacks :)

(Male Human Sorcerer 2 Arcane Bloodline)

Aerys nudges one of the spiders' dead forms with his spear. "They probably used to leave food lying out. That's how you get bugs like this..." He casts a curious look at Corey. "Are you well, friend? You seem distracted..."

Sense motive 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

If possible, aerys would also like to cast detect magic & look thru the webbing to see if anything lights up

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

Abe will help with the search.

"Don't the spiders eat the bugs that eat the food left out?"

Perception take 20 for 22 if possible.

Shol'a'saul looks over the party, making sure no injuries were sustained by anyone. Seeing everyone is happily unhurt, she turns her attention to checking out the former chapel to Pharasma.

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

(Male Half-ElF Fighter 2)

Ricven also helps with the search of the chapel.

Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

(Female Human Fighter/1, Oracle(Lore)/1)

It is the circle of life. Spiders eat bugs, we eat spiders. When we die, the bugs will eat us.

Ad'ifaah picks up one of the spiders to see if it is edible.

Spiders are considered a delicacy in many nations.

(Male Half-ElF Fighter 2)

Ricven makes a face.

"If that's the case, then just consider me not so delicate."

(Female Dark Elf Rogue 2)

Aeleanor cuts open one of the spiders' heads, poking around with her dagger. Where I come from, we harvest the venom of certain beasts for use in potions and poisons.

Knowledge, Nature: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Galahad: Can I gather venom in a phial for later?

Aeleanor, you may make 1 knowledge nature or survival check for each spider (6) to try to harvest some poison.

I have updated the campaign info tab. I added some tabs to it, but most importantly, I added the list of loot.

(Female Dark Elf Rogue 2)

Knowledge, Nature:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Knowledge, Nature:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

I thought it was supposed to be a survival check, but either way, boy those rolls sucked. Just be glad you did not get them in combat.

Aeleanor you are able to gather 3 doses of medium spider poison

(Male Half-ElF Fighter 2)

Ricven will explore the rest of the room, taking 20 as he searches. If that reveals nothing, he'll suggest everyone move on to the next room.

You find, hidden amongst the webs, A cabinet with some supplies. It contains: five vials of holy water, a scroll of lesser restoration, and a wand of cure light wounds (15).

(Male Human Sorcerer 2 Arcane Bloodline)

Aerys nods at Ricven's suggestion. "Perhaps the door that leads to the west from the corridor?"

Shol'a'saul nods in agreement with Aerys. "Yes, let us proceed here." She will store the extra loot in her pack.

Noted on the Campaign Tab.

(Male Half-ElF Fighter 2)

Ricven will lead, even though his history with these haunts has not been stellar. But perhaps he can survive the first attack, anyway.

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

Abe will be right behind Ricven, eager to show his bravery

(Female Human Fighter/1, Oracle(Lore)/1)

I aimlessly wander the same direction as everyone else looking for something to kill.

(AC 13/10/13 HP 16/16 Current effects:)

Venedictos raises a hand to suggest he take some of the healing items, but lowers it again as Shol'a'saul claims them instead. He shrugs and follows the others to the west.

for group items like potions, I don't really need to know who is carrying what, as I allow you to use them as needed and just assume they are divided up. Only specific items need to be detailed.

You leave the room and head to the southernmost door on the west side (the smaller south room of the newly revealed ones).

harrow 10

This stark room contains a low stone bench against the north wall and a ruined desk to the west that sits under three narrow, barred windows. An old brass brazier lies on its side to the south, surrounded by several rusty branding irons.

Perception checks from everyone please

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

(Male Human Sorcerer 2 Arcane Bloodline)

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

"Implements of torture... and a desk. Perhaps for someone to sit and jot down rather coerced confessions?"

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

(Female Human Fighter/1, Oracle(Lore)/1)

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 1 The blind leading the blind, nice rolls so far all.

I fail to notice anything, even that Ricven has stopped in front of me as I bump into him. Then I am distracted by a wisp of my hair which seems to be falling in front of my face.

(AC 13/10/13 HP 16/16 Current effects:)

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Venedictos bumps into Ad'ifaah, knocking her into Ricven, potentially causing a rather comical domino effect within the party as we all end up in a medieval game of Twister on the floor. Somewhere along the way, somebody steps on Abe.

lol

(Male Half-ElF Fighter 2)

Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Ricven steps forward as he notices most everyone stumbling behind him.

"Why have a place for interrogation? I thought they sent people here after they were convicted."

(Female Human Fighter/1, Oracle(Lore)/1)

Suddenly realizing that everyone seemed to have suddenly grown two left feet, Ad'ifaah casually pretends that she was not the cause of the pileup.

Perform(act innocent): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Turning to Ricven: Just because they are convicted does not mean they suddenly forget everything. Rare is the criminal who acts entirely on his own. I would imagine that these were used to induce criminals to divulge information about their partners in crime. Get them to rat their fellows out.

It does not appear to be a torture area. All it has is the one brazier with the brands (branding criminals is a rather common practice).

(Male Half-ElF Fighter 2)

Ricven starts to explore the room, heading straight for the branding irons.

"I see no other implements, so these likely were to mark prisoners in case of escape."

It sounds as if Ricven feels a bit foolish for not realizing it earlier.

(Female Human Fighter/1, Oracle(Lore)/1)

Never really thought of branding prisoners. Back home in Qadira, they frequently brand the slaves.

(Male Half-ElF Fighter 2)

Ricven looks shocked.

"Can slaves there never be freed? What if they are sold again, is a new mark put over the first?"

(Female Human Fighter/1, Oracle(Lore)/1)

I can't say for sure. We had slaves, as did most nobles and merchants. I was friends with some children growing up, but was never involved in buying and selling or much else regarding the care of the slaves. Most were much like household servants around here. Although I know that many other owners of slaves were not so kind to their property.

Aeleanor's perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

lol, continuing the tradition :)

Ricven and Aerys, you both suddenly notice the stench of burning flesh. The two of you get an action, what do you do?

(Male Half-ElF Fighter 2)

Ricven takes his sword and knocks the brazier and branding irons to the floor.

Aeleanor, could you update your character on your profile to level 2 so I have the correct bonuses when I need them, please.

(Male Human Sorcerer 2 Arcane Bloodline)

Aerys sniffs the air, his eyes suddenly widening. He shouts to his companions, "There is a presence in this room!"

If possible, he would try to hit the brazier/branding irons that Ricven has knocked to the floor with a Disrupt Undead. If they've scattered, he'd aim for the brazier. Ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 1d6 ⇒ 4

(Male Halfling Paladin 2)

Abe picks himself up from the pile on the floor.

"Something is here I think"

Detecting evil

Nice try Aerys, missed destroying the haunt by 1 pt.

Ricven and Aerys react suddenly to the stench, but their actions are not quite enough to prevent the haunt from manifesting. The scattered branding irons suddenly glow red hot and shoot from the floor at each of you, except for Venedictos for some reason.

Ricven and Aerys get their full AC everyone else is considered flatfooted

brand vs Abernathus 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
brand vs Ad'ifaah 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
brand vs Aeleanor 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
brand vs Aerys 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
brand vs Corey 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
brand vs Ricven 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
brand vs Shol'a'saul 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

despite the surprise, most miss their target. Ad'ifaah, Aerys, and Corey are hit , however, and they each receive a painful brand on their face.

damage vs Ad'ifaah 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 4) + 2 = 12
damage vs Aerys 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5) + 2 = 8
damage vs Corey 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 3) + 2 = 9

After their attack, the branding irons return to their place and are again stone cold.

(AC 13/10/13 HP 16/16 Current effects:)

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Venedictos channels energy on his turn, trying to put the brands to rest with his soothing chant.
1d6 ⇒ 4

(Female Human Fighter/1, Oracle(Lore)/1)

Does the channel energy also heal us?

Ouch, that hurt.

Cast CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 <-- CL is level 2 from Magical Knack

(AC 13/10/13 HP 16/16 Current effects:)

Well, if the haunt is over, Venedictos would make sure to direct the healing energies towards his friends..

(Male Human Sorcerer 2 Arcane Bloodline)

Aerys touches the mark on his face. "Well, this will be hard to explain..."

(Female Human Fighter/1, Oracle(Lore)/1)

A little make-up and it is as good as gone. Although you actually look good with the brand, makes you look tough.

I grin at Aerys.
