Endar the Entertainer |
Yeah, definitely wouldn't stay standing in the midst of the fire.
GM thunderspirit |
Okay, duly noted.
Like most vials of alchemist's fire, the flames burn out in a round.
Valgrim |
"Are you two OK? Did the fires burn out?" Valgrim asks from the back...
GM thunderspirit |
We'll call Endar's 11 his Reflex save roll, with at +5 makes it. Does Endar's archetype keep evasion?
Mordenaar emerges from the tunnel with some burns all about him. Shortly the flames die out, and the slayer repeats his observation that the incident probably removed all hope of a surprise round.
Kinn |
Kinn regrets not being more cautious and eagerly provides healing to the worst of the wounds...
I'll use the healstick for anyone who wants it. Go ahead and roll.
GM thunderspirit |
On the other side of the trapped tunnel is a small set of rough-hewn steps, which lead you to a large cave, its floor strewn with fresh straw. The bones of many different creatures, animal and humanoid both, hand on the walls.
Two boulders bisect the cave, obscuring what the other half holds. Standing atop the larger boulder is a robed kobold with a dented, tarnished crown that flops over one of his ears. He addresses you imperiously (well, as imperiously as a kobold can), in Common. So! You think you can trespass in the lair of the Blood Vow tribe with impunity! I am Chief Roaghaz, and I serve the great Lord Aeteperax! He rewards his supplicants for ferocity and faithfulness. We shall add your bones to those hanging on these walls, and our great lord shall sup on your flesh! Forward!
A quartet of armed kobolds peek out from hiding, slings in hand, ready to fight!

Mordenaar
Achmed is up!
Cave is still low, so the -2 applies. Also, the boulders currently provide the kobolds with cover.
Endar the Entertainer |
Unfortunately, Endar does NOT have evasion, so he took half damage.
GM thunderspirit |
CHief Roaghaz cackles as he draws a thin stick of bone from beneath his robes and activates it! A many-layered mass of strong, sticky strands springs forth, all about you and the cavern ahead! DC 13 Refl save or be caught in the web.
Endar, Valgrim, Kinn! Also, Achmed can come off delay!
Valgrim |
REF vs DC13: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Valgrim manages to avoid the webbing and moves back down the tunnel from where they came...
Fall back...burn the webbing and then attack once it is clear he shouts to his friends...

Kinn |
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
CMB vs Web: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Kinn is caught off-guard by the sticky explosion, and has trouble freeing himself from the strands. At least he's got cover now...
GM thunderspirit |
Chief Roaghaz is clearly pleased with the results his wand hath wrought!
The kobold guards see a target and loose their slings on Achmed!
R sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Mordenaar!
GM thunderspirit |
I think Mordenaar had enough movement to get out of the web area of effect, yes? If not, he'll need another Reflex save after ending his turn in it.
GM thunderspirit |
Chief Roaghaz continues to laugh at the plight of the longlegs as he casts a spell!
Targeting Mordenaar if he is out of the web or Achmed if not.
ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
acid damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 plus additional 2d4 acid damage next round
Roaghaz then draws a scroll out of his robe!

And burn they do! Achmed smiles slightly at the scent of fried kobold as three of Roaghaz's minions take the full brunt of the flames. The Chief himself ducks behind the boulder and avoids much of the blast.

REF: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Seeing as his companions ran further into the webbing Valgrim runs back through the web area to provide some assistance in the fight. He passes Kinn and Endar and wonders how the rouge managed to get caught in the first place...

Endar tries to extricate himself from the web.

The slayer wears a grim expression indeed. He shakes his head and wordlessly sets to work.

I've decided to make this webbing into a hammock. I'll be over here sipping margaritas.
GM thunderspirit |
Update:
Endar and Mordenaar both find the gold dust in their eyes!
Kinn essentially ignores the spell, but struggles with the web!
Achmed shakes off the spell as well, but his spear cannot find the elusive kobolds!
Valgrim is up! Also, Endar gets his actions.

Mordenaar is up!
GM thunderspirit |
Point of order: I believe Mordenaar is currently denied his Dex? So that's three hits from the kobolds' spears?
Kinn |
Blind = lose Dex PLUS a -2 penalty to AC on top. Blindness sucks. Total Defense doesn't help either because you don't get Dodge bonuses while blind.
GM thunderspirit |
Kinn: that's what I thought, too.
Which sucks for Mordenaar, cos that means three hits...and three DC 13 Fort saves vs. poison.
GM thunderspirit |
Round 2 of acid damage on Mordenaar: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
