Passing through the grate, Thordir's eyes are immediately drawn to the large statue of the horned devil.

"Hmm...this one's Dispater, lord of the second layer of Hell. He's more the politician and jailer type. Interesting that we moved from the first to the second layer between these two rooms. I'll have to watch for that as we continue on."

Kord grunts in acknowledgement, "That one there's Mammon, Hell's chief bean counter. Lives in the Third layer called Erebus. Think of a sewer, filled with scat and rats, take away all the lights, and that's what he calls home. If I were to put a trap here, it would be one to turn out the lights and release the plague-soaked little vermin. Let's keep an eye out."

Kord pulls out a flask of oil, "In case we gotta douse one...or more."

Thordir looks thoughtfully at the statue as Kord describes what it depicts. "Hmmm...and there's the third layer. It would certainly seem that this site has some significance for diabolists." While waiting for the group to continue over the pool, he turns to the others and asks, "Anybody see anything else worth noting before we move on?"

Thordir follows along behind Kord, but decides to try the shorter jumps from pillar to pillar. Just like the paladin, Thordir first removes his armor, but the chain shirt he wears is light enough that he is able to carefully roll it up and stow it in his pack. Here goes nothing, he thinks as he lines up and takes his first short leap.

The warrior's first few jumps go fairly smoothly, but once Thordir reaches the turn, his balance is completely shot, and he tumbles into the water. Soaking wet and covered in the same oily residue as Kord and Two Blades, Thordir's mood is similarly morose until he sees the others, then cannot help but laugh at himself and the others. Before putting his armor back on and securing his gear, Thordir does his best to clean himself up.

Thordir and Kord both get what they can off of themselves how ever, their skin and armor still has a layer of film on it.

This hallway has staircases leading down to the north and west. The wide staircase to the west leads to a room illuminated by the warm glow of a small, fuel-less forge next to an eight-foot tall statue. The statue depicts a handsome, winged humanoid, though one side of his body is notably angelic and the other half fiendish. Skeletal remains in a red uniform lie in the middle of the room.

On the east end of this dim hallway, two staircases lead to the north and south but the one to the north has collapsed. A painting on the eastern wall depicts four figures guided along a path by a rat, a goat, a raven, and a hound. A rounded tunnel extends to the west, and glowing runes on the floor divide the floor into four areas. Stairs at the far end of the hall descend into a larger room, and a decrepit corpse wearing a silver amulet is splayed precariously across the upper steps.
