I'll be on holliday in the UK from tomorrow (18th) till next tuesday (24th). Friday, saturday and sunday will be PaizoconUK, so I wont have time to post then.
I'm not entirely sure what Dayo is doing. It it a parry and repost thing if he draws an AoE?
I started playing a reach fighter in another PbP and it helped the GM to pre-roll my attacks of opportunity so gameplay wasn't slowed down. I spoiler them so they don't take up a lot of space until needed.
I'll be multiclassing Dayo equally Paladin/Monk, so he won't get the ability to Parry/Riposte until Character Level 8th.
Assuming the Campaign is still active by then.
Question for the group: with Oskar gone, Pathfinder v1 coming to a close, Pathfinder v2 currently being playtested, and Starfinder in full swing, where do we go next?
Do we want to look for a replacement player?
Continue as we are?
Convert to Pathfinder v2 when it's released?
Stay Pathfinder v1 the whole time?
Conclude the campaign with Book 1?
Move on to a new campaign?
Something else?
My thoughts: I know virtually nothing about this storyline, so I'm interested in continuing as far as the plot goes. I'd be fine updating to PF2 when it's released. Otherwise this will be the only PF1 I'm involved with. But the thing that worries me is the pacing. I assume we're close to finishing this Book? But assuming the same pace for the rest of the campaign this will take half a decade to finish. Is everyone fine with that?
Just feeling for where everyone else is at. It would be an easy and quick conversation in person.
Id like to continue this as long as everyone is interested. We are currently close to the end of book 1, but there is still a little bit to go. I suspect it will go faster in book 2 as there will be less world building. Sandpoint and its residents have been set up, and the plot ball is in motion.
As for converstion, that doesnt really speak to me. I'll most likely be playing PF1 and PF2 at the same time.
As for replacing Oskar: for now just continue with who we have. If it becomes apperant we need another player, we can recruit. But with the end of book 1 and the start of book 2, I think we will be good with the party we have now.
Hey all, I was stalking some post histories and I found this. I contacted Woran (I know her in real life, don't worry), and asked if I could join. She said yes, but feel free to say no if you don't want me.
Anyway, I saw you need a frontliner/trap disabler, and I'd like to make a Slayer, if possible. Requirements I see right now are:
- Frontline (melee damage or high AC? Can't do both, I think)
- Trap spotter/disabler
Are there any other requests for my character, or niches I could fill? I don't have a concept yet, but I usually shape character and backstory around my build, not the other way around.
With mage armor and super-reduce person Dayo's AC hits 24, which I think is decent for Level 3, although his Hit Points are correspondingly lower than average. But he can certainly be your flanking buddy.
We definitely need someone with Perception. I'm tied for highest with a +2. We have nobody that can disable magical traps.
Maybe you can be the Str-based, heavy armor Slayer? We don't have anyone that can do Strength checks.
Heavy armour is certainly an option, but it sort of conflicts with trap disabling. Heavy armour promotes low Dexterity, while Disable Device keys off it, and is subject to armour check penalty. I mean, it might be doable, but I'd have to jump through a lot of hoops, and it might impact the effectiveness of my frontlining abilities. Or, at least, I'll have to spread my stats/feats around more than I'd like.
EDIT: Also, Slayers aren't naturally proficient with heavy armour. I'd either have to multiclass (I'd rather not), or spend a feat on it.
I'm already playing such a character in a different Adventure Path, I'd rather do something I haven't done before, mechanically speaking. I'm now thinking of an intimidate-based build, but I could go other routes if necessary. I personally don't think feinting is all that useful (better for Rogues with better sneak attack dice), but I could go that way as well, among other things.
Oh, found another cool twist to do things. The Oracle archetype Seeker gets pseudo-Trapfinding. On the plus side, I'll be equally decent at it as a Slayer would be, plus I get some divine goodness. On the downside, I'll be slightly more squishy and slightly less accurate (3/4 BAB vs full BAB). I think I'd rather go that route than Slayer, I think, but what do you think?
EDIT: I won't fully go into face skills or have a very high Charisma, but I'll have the bare minimum. I'll focus more on trapfinding and damage dealing than divine support, but I'll obviousy have some Cure spells.
People get to design their own characters. We can make just about anything work. Justin pre buffs so he doesn't need a meat shield: he can contribute to the group while running away or enjoying a cheese platter at the entrance.
I've sent Woran a mail with most of my character details. Wanted to go fancy with demoralising and such, but meh. Now I've built a weird switch-hitter. Maybe a bit bland, but I can get fancy later on. The foundation is done, now I can go wherever I need.
Question: what's the amount of gear/wealth you're carrying with you? Woran offered me an amount of gold to start with, but I'm not entirely comfortable with cherry-picking stuff while you have to make do with what you've found.
Hard to say really. It doesn't feel like we're laden, we have some rather random stuff. But we also got some loot from recent fights that hasn't been evaluated/sold yet.
Yeah, that ring of protection ate up pretty much ALL of the lvl 1 gold rewards. It was silly.
While Oskar will 'retire' back to the alchemist shop, we can use him for the calculation for average gold per char.
I'll assume a budget of roughly 1000 gp then, seems reasonably in line with what the rest has. I'll probably just buy some starting gear, nothing fancy.
I'll be in the middle of nowhere this weekend, visiting my dad for his birthday. Internet is bad in the middle of nowhere. I might not be able to post.
HP 45/49 | AC17 T10 FF15 CMD20 (+1 on all vs traps)| F+9 R+5 (+6 for traps) W+8 (immune to fear and disease)| Init+2 | Perception +12 (+1 for traps) (automatic Perception check within 10 ft of a trap, at +13), low-light vision | speed 20 ft
I'm going away for a few days (until Tuesday), so probably won't have time to check in here. Bot me if needed. I think my page has everything you need.
Also, just because I'm curious: how do you like my character? I always fear I'm sort of a fifth wheel. >_>
I'm going to turn down the chronicle on the likelyhood of replaying this at a con or something is higher than the chances of needing more credit given my buckets of DM credit.
