Awesome, have fun. We frequently visit as my family lives near Orlando. If you need any advice, let me know. :)
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson |
Hey WhtKnt, if Setess Hveyburn/The Dragon isn't going to be joining us, I'm in a couple of games with evandariel he applied with the character Jamadar. He is very interested in this game, just a thought.
WhtKnt |
I have a con all weekend, so I won't be back on until Monday. Will update with a map at that time.
Grumthar |
Have fun. Would love to get up there sometime for Paizo Con, but North Alabama to Seattle is quite a haul. :)
WhtKnt |
I need for everyone to sign in to Roll20, please.
Grumthar |
Ok, then I have some sort of permissions issue. :)
I don't see anything.
Ah, I didn't catch that Einar went all the way in and back out.
Shae Oakenshield |
I know we got off to a slow start, but I haven't seen Setess post in 2 weeks. Have you tried to contact him, WhtKnt? If he is out, are we going to pick up a 6th before we get too far?
WhtKnt |
I have tried contacting him, so I am going to go ahead and replace him. I have a replacement in mind, already.
Jamadar |
Hey guys, evandariel here! Thanks WhtKnt for accepting me. I'm in 3 other games with Einar, looking forward to playing with you guys. I'll post in the gameplay, but need to look over my sheet and make sure everything is done, haven't messed with it since recruitment.
Since it just started, to make it easy perhaps we can just assume Jamadar was already with the party rather than Setess. Jamadar is a magus but using an archetype similar to an arcane trickster, so sort of a fighter/mage/thief.
Jamadar |
OK guys, tidied up my character sheet. I switched dungeoneering knowledge to planes, since I noticed two of us have dungeoneering already but didn't see knowledge(planes), might come in handy.
Grumthar |
Glad you can join us Jamadar! Let's get this party (re)started :)
On a side note, I just got hooked on Pixel Dungeon for droid. I hope we have more luck here. Hah!
Jamadar |
Thanks and let's do that :D
Jamadar isn't going to be fantastic at anything, but should be able to support every role (fighting sorcery or thievery). At least that way if someone gets temporarily knocked out we won't lose our only 'xyz'
Shae Oakenshield |
While I'm LG, as a dwarf, I hate orcs, so I don't think I'd feel compelled to help them. Lets move on. I don't think it matters which door.
Grumthar |
Awesome, almost all together again.
Before going too much further, should we figure out how the party is going to move, scout, and such? The Roll20 interaction may be giving us too much freedom for our own good. :)
Are both trapfinders going to stay up front, for example?
Shae Oakenshield |
Glade Wolf - Unfortunately, only you and probably the GM can move you on the map.
As far as an order, I know Glade Wolf was going to bring up the rear. I don't know where Jamadar wants to be, but I can be 3rd if he wants towards back or 5th if he wants towards front. The rogue will lead followed by the bloodrager and the sorc will be 4th.
Grumthar |
I also wish it would show where the player icons were, even if they are out of LOS. It took me a minute to figure out where Jamadar went.
WhtKnt |
I have a convention this weekend and will likely not have a chance to post Friday through Sunday. Please remain patient and I will catch up when I return.
Grumthar |
No worries, have fun.
Grumthar |
Hopefully, Grumthar can convince Jamadar not to open the door alone. It could be interesting for the two casters otherwise. Hah!
I am not going farther than one foot in/out of the current room with everyone.
It is an interesting discussion though...
Since the map lets us move whenever we want, it is a little too easy to get ahead of the party when we are just exploring, especially when someone is late on their update.
Is it generally considered that the party is staying together (in the event combat starts), unless that character has said otherwise (like, "I am staying here" or "I am scouting ahead into the next room")?
Just as an example, in a live gaming situation, Glade wouldn't have stayed alone 90+' away from the party ... in a different room ... with 3 orcs at his feet ... in the dark. If combat had started in our current room, would we just have moved Glade up or would he really have started back where we was in the dark? This is just my lack of PbP experience here.
WhtKnt |
I generally assume that the group is trying to stay together unless it is otherwise explicitly stated. And staying together in this dungeon is definitely advised!
Glade Wolf |
yeah, in play by post it can be confusing, I didn't know the orcs were at my feet but from a distance and I must have missed it that the group moved on.
Grumthar |
Awesome. I won't take that into account so much then when there is a character hanging back because they haven't made an update.
Jamadar |
Totally missed the discussion by refreshing gameplay tab on my phone lol.
Jamadar would never open a door alone, but since we were about to proceed to the next room, he wanted to listen at the other one where the orcs were, in case he heard something on the other side and needed to alert the group to something BEHIND us. Of course, rolled a 1 to listen check haha.
Grumthar |
I wonder how cooking things in here would go. If it is totally sealed, then lighting a fire is a bad idea because of the smoke. We may be eating a lot of raw stuff, which suits Grumthar's orc nature just fine. :)
Of course, even if it isn't quite air-tight, the smell of cooking food and smoke wafting through the air will likely attract attention of those that may like taste us.
Grumthar |
Heck, with a well placed fireball, we could have a barbeque.
Grumthar |
Whtknt, what does the inside of this place look like thus far? Just worked stone with no decoration, furniture, etc.
WhtKnt |
Yup. No furniture, just halls of worked stone. The floor is stone and does not hold tracks very well.
Grumthar |
Some things I'd like to see in Roll20 for sure:
- center on character button
- ability to utilize dynamic lighting around character icons, but also still be able to see areas on map that have been explored (if not clearly, at least as an outline)
I can see things becoming very complicated in Roll20 with large, complicated dungeon
Shae Oakenshield |
Yes, it works now.
I agree, Grumthar. I'm surprised they don't at least have a center on character button.
WhtKnt |
I am going on a working vacation starting on the 30th until July 17 or so. I should be able to get on at least once a day to check in on things, but there may be a day or two without access here or there. (I'm going to Georgia to be with my family and give the grandparents a break from taking care of the niece and nephew.) If you are in my game, please bear with me and I will update as often as possible. If I am in your game and seem slow, you know why. Thanks.
Grumthar |
Taking the family camping starting today through Sunday. Barring an early return (which is possible given the heat and rain forecast) I likely won't be checking in during that time. Luckily, Gruthar doesn't have a huge set of options to choose from in any given situation. :)
Grumthar |
Hah, work decided to block Paizo, and so I will have to be more diligent at getting on my PC at home.
Grumthar |
They are getting pretty hardcore with their internet filtering lately. We lost everything categorized as games, entertainment, fashion/jewelry, auctions, messageboards/community, and more.
Ahh, good old large corporations ...
A page comes up asking if you want to submit a site for reconsideration. I wonder what would happen ...
