There is a small boulder of sufficient size nearby.
WhtKnt |
INSIDE:
Ghost looks into a control room of some sort. There are two obvious guards and two unarmed aliens here. The two that are unarmed are working at control panels. Isikos, the corridor leads to an intersection that forms a diamond shape around a small central room with a door entering it. To the right, the corridor is clear, but to the left are three aliens, standing about talking.
OUTSIDE:
QNetic's blast hits the craft, causing some damage, but not disabling the vehicle. Likewise, MINOTAR's rock bounces off the hull, causing a few pieces to fly off of the machine, but far from disabling it. Both veer around, heading straight for the group and targeting MINOTAR and QNetic.
Hover cycle Toughness vs. QNetic: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Hover cycle Toughness v. MINOTAR: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Blaster attack vs. MINOTAR: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 (23 vs. Toughness if hit)
Blaster attack vs. QNetic: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 (23 vs. Toughness if hit)
Meanwhile, Straightjacket climbs onto the cycle, behind the driver.
WhtKnt |
I was having them react to your attacks, but we can and should go to initiative. Yes, the attack against you was a miss (your Dodge is actually 10 plus your Dodge score, so 18). I do believe that QNetic was hit, however, though I could be wrong.
WhtKnt |
Yes, you have a HP and can reroll.
INITIATIVE
Hydronaut
Straightjacket
QNetic
Ghost
Aliens
MINOTAR
Isikos
Hydronaut, Straightjacket, QNetic, and Ghost are up!
QNetic Initiative: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
MINOTAR Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
STraightjacket Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
Hydronaut Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Isikos Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Alien Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
QNetic |
I forgot I have impervious toughness with 8 ranks, the top 3 of which are unreliable. I'll remember next time.
QNetic dumps all his power into the blast, making it more powerful if less well-aimed.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 toughness DC 26 if that hits (aiming at vehicle again.)
"Keep them focused on us!"
WhtKnt |
Stupid board problems have got me all out of sorts and I have an elderly aunt in the hospital with pneumonia. I will post tomorrow.
WhtKnt |
OUTSIDE:
Hydronaut sprays a jet of water at the lead vehicle but misses. Straightjacket also fails in his attempt to pin the driver of his hovercycle. QNetic fires another blast at the speeding vehicle, this one poorly aimed (but more powerful). The shot connects and again, some pieces are blasted off of the craft, but it still flies! The flying machines circle for another pass, blasting away at the heroes. The machine on which Straightjacket is struggling makes a sudden dive for the ground, trying to shake him loose!
INSIDE:
Ghost signals to Isikos who signals his findings in return.
The heroes, except Isikos, are up!
No, MINOTAR, I didn't skip your turn. It will be slipped into the appropriate place in the order. :)
Hovercycle Toughness vs. QNetic: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Blaster attack vs. QNetic: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 (23 vs. Toughness if hit)
Blaster attack vs. MINOTAR: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 (23 vs. Toughness if hit)
Jim Margrove - "Ghost" |
I just remembered I'm invisible and Isikos can't see me. We actually can't communicate with hand signals. Crap.
Ghost looks about for anything that might be a security camera-type device. If there is none, he will quickly drop invisibility to signal to Isikos that they should infiltrate the control room and attack the enemies inside.
If there is, he will look for a way to disable it.

Toughness vs DC23: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
I am assuming I can go now...?
Leaning into the energy blast, MINOTAR's bargain-basement Metallo(TM) armor seems to take the brunt of it with out much wear.
Still smoking from the attack, his eyes flash red and he looks up at the approaching hover vehicle.
"Combat mode: ENGAGED. My turn!"
With a flash and a rumble, MINOTAR turns on his hidden jump-jets and launches himself, fist forward toward the approaching enemy!
Jumping Strike: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
If it hits: Toughness vs. DC25?
Does that seem correct to you GM?
WhtKnt |
Oh, gods. I am sooo very sorry, guys. I had it in my head that I was waiting on one of you when you were waiting for me! Please, if it seems that I have fallen off the face of the Earth, don't hesitate to nudge me. I have six different games running on the boards, so I sometimes miss an update (especially with all the recent board errors). Thank you MINOTAR for speaking up!
Ah! I see that I was waiting on QNetic. I'll go ahead with the move and insert him in when he responds.
I finally found the conversions that I was looking for (this is an old V&V module), so if the stats of things change slightly, that's why.
By the way, the aliens look like this.
OUTSIDE
The battle rages! MINOTAR responds to the attack by taking the fight to the alien, springing forward to punch it in the muzzle! The alien takes the blow and manages to roll with the worst of it, but is bruised and battered (though still very much awake). However, it is knocked from the controls of the hoverbike, which now spins towards the ground (as gravity takes hold of the alien rider, who also begins a fall towards Earth).
Hydronaut hurls another gout of water at the hovercycle, striking its rider full in the face! The attack leaves the target dazed, but still at the controls!
Straightjacket attempts to pin his foe, but fails as the hovercycle dives towards the ground, coming dangerously close! The alien draws its sword and attempts to slash the flexible hero, but fails miserably!
PCs are up, and I'll insert you into the initiative where appropriate. QNetic, you get two actions; one for this round and one for last round.
Alien tries to hold on : 1d20 ⇒ 14
Alien Toughness vs. Hydronaut: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Alien tires to hold on: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Alien vs. Straightjacket: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R |
MINOTAR finishes his jump arc and hopes the riderless vehicle doesn't hit anything to soft or explosive. Landing on the ground hard enough to dent the dirt, he then adjusts toward the falling enemy and quickly moves to intercept him/it with another punch!
Charging Punch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Toughness vs. DC25
"Conjecture: These aliens seem to be some sort of insect/badger hybrid!"
WhtKnt |
Did I see any sign of any security camera-type apparatus?
Nothing that specifically looks like a camera.
WhtKnt |
They are actually reptilian, not insectoid.
Still waiting on Qnetic and Isikos. I'll send them PMs.
Isikos |
Sorry, was waiting on confirmation that I could see Ghost.
Ghost will nod and slip into the control room. while he's sneaking along the ceiling, it doesn't matter much if they look up as darkness fills the room.
WhtKnt |
INSIDE
Isikos joins Ghost as the control room falls into darkness. For a moment, there is confusion, then the guards begin scanning the room visually.
OUTSIDE
Hydronaut blasts away with another stream of water but misses. Straightjacket finally manages to pin his foe as the hovercycle drives into the ground at a high rate of speed! I'm going to rule that due to his flexibility, Straightjacket takes no damage and can protect his prisoner if he so desires. Let me know if you don't want to do so. QNetic seems to have frozen in place as the battle rages around him.
The remaining hovercycle speeds off in the direction of town, as MINOTAR intercepts the falling alien in mid-air with another staggering punch, knocking it unconscious and sending it flying in another direction. It slams into the side of the ship and slumps to the ground.
The battle outside is effectively over, as the remaining hovercycle has fled and the other two pilots are held or otherwise disabled.
Straightjacket |
Seeing the craft about to hit the dirt, Straightjacket forms himself into a sort of ball around the prisoner and bounces off the ground, insulating the alien from harm.
Now what do I do with him?
"Well, find someone who can interrogate him" replies his father.
Like who
"Maybe some authorities."
So he looks around for someone to hand the alien over to.
Isikos |
As he slides through the darkness, he strikes out at one of the guards and moves away. But he doesn't seem prepared for their strange anatomy.
attack (shadow blades): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Move-by action and reach
Jim Margrove - "Ghost" |
Pulling out his stun gun, Ghost fires it up and jabs it into the other guard, sending electricity pulsing into him.
Attack (stun gun): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
On my sheet I have listed next to my stun gun "Affliction 5, electricity, daze/stun/incapacitate". I think that means it is a Fortitude DC 15 check, with the degrees of failure being: 1 - dazed, 2 - stunned, 3 - incapacitated. Also, the type of damage is electricity, so if they're immune to electricity, it won't do anything.
WhtKnt |
That is exactly what it means, Ghost.
INSIDE
Isikos stabs at a guard with a shadow blade but misses. Ghost has more success in hitting one of them, but the guard easily resists the electrical current running through its body. The guards, unhampered by the darkness (where the technicians are stumbling about), fire their weapons at the darkness, hoping to hit something. Unfortunately, unable to see their targets, they hit nothing.
WhtKnt |
Haven't forgotten you guys. Was waiting to see if Ghost and Isikos were going to respond and also waiting to see if QNetic comes back, but it appears that he isn't going to.
Jim Margrove - "Ghost" |
Sorry! Thought I posted.
Wondering if the creatures were just naturally resistant to electricity, or if that hadn't been enough, Ghost teleports to the other side of the guard and jabs at him with the stun gun again.
Attack (stun gun): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Same rules as before. If the guard is able to connect with me on his attack, I'm going to phase as a reaction.
Isikos |
Whoops. I must have got interrupted after reading it.
Isikos slides along the ceiling, reaching out as he moves with his shadow blades.
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
DC 23 toughness save vs. damage and 18 dodge save vs. vulnerable/defenseless
Project M.I.N.O.T.A.R |
Thinking only for a second, MINOTAR replies quickly.
"Not at the moment: Our facilities and resources are still quite limited. Once the full League hears of this invasion we will be better off of course with such things."
Walking over to a sturdy metal street sign-pole, MINOTAR will rip it up casually, knock off any remaining concrete, and help Straitjacket 'wrap' it around the prisoner's torso to pin its arm movements, but leave it uncomfortable, if mostly unharmed. He then repeats the process with the creatures legs.
"Unless these creatures are stronger than they look, that should work for now until the prisoner can be 'processed'. Should I render him unconscious for now...just in case?"
WhtKnt |
INSIDE
Isikos and Ghost both launch attacks against the guards. Isikos' foe is wounded by the attack but is not seriously injured. Ghost's foe drops to the floor, stunned. The remaining guard shoots a laser at Isikos, but the poorly-aimed attack misses.
OUTSIDE
QNetic still stands motionless and silent, as MINOTAR secures the prisoner with a handy street sign. It seems to hold quite well again his struggles.
Guard Toughness (Isikos): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Guard vs. Isikos: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Miss chance (low is a miss): 1d100 ⇒ 3
