Sadly, the pistol is confiscated as evidence.
Rayshel puts her finger to her lips and looks to see if anyone else is around. Satisfied, she reaches into her shirt and pulls out a necklace with an odd, glowing stone in the center of it.
"I don't know what it does," she whispers. "Mommy gave it to me and said that I should keep it hidden from everybody but Daddy. But I guess it's okay to show you."

Rayshel hangs onto Alita as if her life were dependent on such. "Daddy's name is Michael and he's a coo-coor- he carries messages for important people. He lives on Aw-lawn-dril (the main inhabited planet in the Tendril system is Alaundril and you suspect this may be the planet she is trying to reference). I live with Mommy, but she let me come see Daddy just this once. Mommy's name is Susan."
When Lig'Tu speaks, she shrinks in fear, but manages to stammer, "I-I don't know what oc-ocu-ocupatin means, but Mommy has black hair."

"Mommy put me on the shuttle and Daddy was supposed to pick me up, except he didn't. That man did and he told the nice lady that he was my Daddy. I tried to tell her, so I ran away."
Even in this day and age, children are sometimes put on a plane and remanded to the care of a steward until they reach their destination and are turned over to a guardian. It is unusual, but not unheard of.
Rrin Meshalos |
Rrin winces sightly at the reminder that the girl's father isn't here. I can't imagine that the arrival of a kit is the sort of thing even a human would forget... That... plus the knowledge of her adornment... rather bodes ill.
He stretches out again, using his movements as a cover to scan the area to see if there's any persistent (unhealthy) interest in the girl or the group, then suggests, "Maybe the station's authorities could locate the kit's sure?"
WhtKnt |
Local datanet indicates that a Michael Pasteur does live on Alaundril (the planet in this system about which the station is in orbit), in the city of Babel (the capital). You can bring up his address and comm data easily enough. AT the moment, no one seems to be taking an interest.
WhtKnt |
There is no answer on the comms (and he would likely have his comm with him).
WhtKnt |
No way to determine directly where his comm is located. Now, if perhaps you knew someone with System Operations--Communication and Computer Science--Hacking...
No developments in recent news, no.
Before you can take another step towards finding the girl's father, however, alarms blare and the entire station goes into lockdown. Marines appear at every corner and ensure that everyone stays put.
Lig'Tu |
"That's probably not good, right?" says Lig'Tu jokingly to lighten the mood.
"We should probably move up against the wall and get out of these marines' way. Might give someone a place to hide, too."
Lig'Tu will then move up against the wall and place his back vertical to the wall, while moving his legs at an angle, allowing for a space that a, say, small human could hide in.
WhtKnt |
After a good ten minutes, the alarms stop, but the marines remain in position. Movement through the station has stopped, as though everyone was frozen in their tracks. Lincoln overhears someone whispering that a body had been found in one of the washrooms. Another tense 20 minutes pass and then an announcement comes over the intercom that everyone may resume normal operations and go about their business.
WhtKnt |
Yes, you can bring up a picture of him. He looks nothing like the man who tried to take Rayshel.
WhtKnt |
As you expected, the law enforcement is keeping everyone clear of the scene, pending notification of next-of-kin. However, an officer does let it slip that the victim's name is Michael Pasteur. Fortunately, Rayshel does not overhear this.

Yes, her travel papers do list her point of origin; Port Royal on Lucullus in the Algemron system. It's a short journey, with a good drivership (about 20.21 light years). For a typical small starship, that's a month or so's travel. The papers also list her mother's contact information. Her name is Susan Greymore.
Alita Ryn |
Can't find the reference right now, but Inter-system communication isn't real time is it - so we can send her a message but not call her.
"We should get out of this terminal anyway. If anyone comes looking for her they'll come here."
Perhaps move to some sort of cafe a short distance away, while we decide what to do?
Choraak |
It takes 11 hours for a signal to reach another system via drivespace satellite communications.
I'm hoping it is ok that I dive in on this?
A very slightly built sesheyan approaches you. He is wearing green fatigues and a beret, with what were likely corporate patches removed in several locations, and only his namepatch still present, which reads "Choraak." He carries a knife visibly, but amongst the folds and pockets of his clothes, he may have other items hidden away. His many eyes are covered by dark goggles.
He carries himself with a sureness and freedom that would likely not be evident in one of Voidcorps' many employees seshayens.
"The moon hunter watches and sees the many creatures that do not see him. He wonders at their goals, and marvels at their strength. The normal ways of the House of Light are disturbed. A scuffle here, and a death there are not the usual way. The moon hunter sees not coincidence in these things and wonders at the link between them. The dead man will tell no tale, so the moon hunter is forced to query the victor of the fight. What spoils did you gain? The moon hunter seeks excitement before he returns to the nest, and possibly to share in any future spoils and adventure."
Once his long exposition is completed, he slowly bobs around, his head and eyes moving to capture all that he can see in the area. He waits expectantly for a response.
Alita Ryn |
Alita eyes the Seshayan for a moment, his approach at this time seems suspicious - but it seems an odd ploy if he's after the girl. Besides which, it occurs to Alita that she's already putting her faith in a Human, a Weran and Pershala that she barely knew.
"We've already had a stranger resort to violence against us for something we're protecting, I'm sure you will understand if we are cautious to trust you. But if you wish to accompany us, I wil not turn away aid."
Lincoln Kennedy |
"All of you have your own particular odor if you ask me. Does anyone know anything about this place? I believe we find an affordable, but discrete hostel, get a couple of rooms, and wait to hear back from the girl's mother. The police will probably only complicate things, and somehow we'll end up in jail".
We need to check on procuring passage to Port Royal, and determine how we're going to pay for it... hopefully the girls mother wants her back bad enough to help out. We should probably keep a close watch out as well, and try to be stealthy as we don't know if the man we thwarted worked alone or not, and it's obvious that this is a pretty important thing to someone".
