Viktor Rusnak |
Micah Haynes |
Micah contemplates whether the lack of a response to his request constitutes a lack of consent or a lack of objection... When the conversation turns to equipping Viktor he guesses the later and tentatively reaches out and collects the magical arrows.
Still unsure of his place in this new group he sheepishly says, "It seems wise to me for those unable to heal themselves to take two cure potions each, and those who can take a single one. Telis here he gestures toward the snow leopard will not be shy about entering a fight, and if everyone is agreeable to setting one aside for him as well we'd both be grateful."
Halara |
Halara picks only one of the potions. "Indeed us healers should get only one potion, but the actual reason is that if we fall in combat, you will have one extra potion to bring us back to life. I only use a light crossbow Micah, and even that in rarely occasions. Go ahead and use them."
GM Void Dragon |
Sure you can give him the blade, and assuming that you do...
Valkyrie remembers the golden bladed falchion that Thorst had been wielding and hands it over to Viktor. When Viktor's hand touches the blade he finds that the blade changes shape and size right before his eyes into a golden bladed longsword that seems to fit snugly in his hand.
The blade functions now as a +1 cold iron longsword.
Viktor Rusnak |
Viktor stares in amazement for a moment, then laughs with approval. "Ah, this is wonderful!" He gives it a swing, testing the weight of the blade.
Love me them righteous weapons.
Ophelia Iestelle Glinathir |
Ophelia picks up the Wand of Magic Missile.
"I believe that I can put this item to the best use. This wand has plenty of charges in it, and the level of power its caster gave it means that I can hit a lot of harder with the Magic Missiles than I ever did with those acid globs."
Halara |
Halara raise an eyebrow when Viktor talks, and she seems pleased with what she heard. "That's good to know sir. I'll also be there when you need me. I don't let my allies down. Go ahead Ophelia, take it. So, let's approach the place, and scout around for a bit. Anyone good at sneaking?"
GM Void Dragon |
Sorry about not having a post apparently it got eaten. Are you going to go and scout the place out before calling on your distraction or are you calling the distraction and then trying to scout it out?
Micah Haynes |
Micah considers the scenario for a moment and then offers, "I think the only thing we really need to scout out is a regroup point, right? We'll want that to be a safe distance away anyways, so if we just leave a little bit before the distraction force we should be able to find a suitable location in the few minutes before they arrive and be ready to strike just after they begin..."
Micah Haynes |
the point i was trying to get across with my IC post was that we probably want our rendezvous point far enough away that we shouldn't really need to rely on stealth... if we're all regrouping like 50' from the door the demons are just going to follow us there... although, i suppose the paladin's ideal regroup option would be the front door, lol
GM Void Dragon |
1d100 ⇒ 15
The group begins heading out before the main force looking for a suitable place to regroup.
Someone will need to make a perception and then a survival roll.
GM Void Dragon |
Scouting for a nearby regroup point seems to be difficult. Many buildings are either destroyed or you hear the sounds of something inhabiting the area, but you are able to find one small house that seems to have been ignored for now. The building is partially wrecked with most of the roof lying on the ground, but it appears that you could regroup there.
Viktor Rusnak |
"Good, this is our regroup spot. We should fortify it if we have time." With his spare time, Viktor moves the rubble around so that there are two points of entry. One of them he blocks off, but in a way that it could be quickly smashed down without much effort, an emergency escape route.
Micah Haynes |
"This looks good," Micah offers surveying the chosen rallying point, "now we just watch and listen for the distraction to begin, which shouldn't be long..."
i'll look for something nearby that I can climb up on to where there's some cover I can sort of hide in but its easier to see/hear when the distraction begins...
GM Void Dragon |
The fortifying of the home goes quickly with many people working on it. Just as you get finished Micah begins hearing and seeing many creatures moving away from your position towards some place close to the outskirts of Old Kenabres.
GM Void Dragon |
1d100 ⇒ 91
1d100 ⇒ 69
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
As Valkyrie scouts ahead she finds that there is something going on in the street ahead. Moving forward she finds two small demons flapping through the air cackling as they have some sort of macabre play with several terrified people acting out scenes that the demons call out. The humans move gracelessly with terror and anguish written upon their face that only seems to further the demons amusement. Four corpses lie on the ground a testament to any who thought to get away.
The creatures don't appear to have noticed her yet.
Ophelia Iestelle Glinathir |
"We should help those poor people. There are five of us and only two of those demons. If we get the drop on them, then we can dispatch the fiends in seconds. It seems right in the way of our destination as well."
Micah Haynes |
"Yes, the people must be protected," Micah agrees, "but we must work fast and keep moving... Are they within striking distance of the ground? And, how many of us can make a decent attack if they're too high?" He stops moving while he speaks but is clearly anxious to keep moving...
GM Void Dragon |
The two demons are called quasits demons that resist any weapon that isn't good or cold iron. They have several spell-like abilities like detect good, detect magic, invisibility, cause fear. They also have the ability to change their shape to several other forms.
Valkyrie Stormseeker |
"Quasits.. Not very strong demons but still need cold iron to be effective. If we takes em by surprise we might keep from getting away. We certainly dont need that. They can turn invisible and if they do so we'll lose em. Perhaps we should just follow them."
Micah Haynes |
"Following them will eat up valuable time," Micah replies, "remember, every minute that passes more of the valiant men and women creating this distraction will die... we can't just leave them to torture townsfolk either, though... let's charge in and try to take care of them before they can go invisible; if one of them gets away so be it, there will be plenty of time to hunt it later when there aren't people dying for us."
Valkyrie Stormseeker |
Val mods before giving her blade a quick enhancement.. "Let's go then.." Moving quickly Val makes for the demons.. I dont think we can get to them with stealth so might as well get to it..
Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Charging in Val takes a slice at one of the demons.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 weapon is cold iron
If she cant reach them she'll line em up for a color spray(dc 15)
Micah Haynes |
initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
At the first sign of readiness, Micah charges the demons with his cold iron morningstar in hand right on Val's heels
charge attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23, for: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
As the two rush forward, Telis rushes with them, snapping at the creature with his powerful jaw...
charge attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22, for: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 not cold iron
Viktor Rusnak |
Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Viktor begins charging in as well, slowly getting up to speed but then becoming a veritable mass of metal and man with massive momentum. "I am Viktor Rusnak, and you shall feel my wrath!"
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
AC is 22 for charging.
Ophelia Iestelle Glinathir |
Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Using her new wand, Ophelia fires a barrage of magic missiles at the first quasit she sees.
Damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 1) + 3 = 6 All missiles going to whoever counts as Quasit 1.
Do I need to roll spell resistance?
