The rest of the voyage to Torch is uneventful. At night, the buzzing hum of the boat's technology-infused engines push the boat against the current and lull you into restful sleep. Those of you who don't actually sleep still feel rested and refreshed. You arrive a couple hours after dawn ready to head into town and find out what is going on. As you disembark, the captain of the ship informs you that there won't be much river travel for at least three or four days, so you are basically stuck here until the next boat makes it to town.

As there are no docks in town, you are dropped off at the widening of the river near the base of the hill.

Lazur stands and slings his musket over his shoulder. As he walks off the boat he turns to the captain, 'Thank you very much for the trip. Have a safe journey." He then disembarks from the boat.

He turns to the rest of the group, "Those heading for the tavern come on." He then turns and starts walking at a fast pace into town and toward the tavern he calls home.

Gathering his belongings, Jack thinks about the joys of a bed that doesn't move around of its own accord. "Very well. Lead the way."

As he follows after Anil, his eyes look around the area, observing the changes in the locale and trends since he had last left.

Locke attempts to casually asks around about the location of the Foundry Tavern from the ship's crew and even the flamboyant gnome captain if approachable.

"Very well," Raven says, blinking once. "However, I would stipulate a moritorium on the consumption of alcoholic refreshment until after the necessary negotiation of monetary rewards and acquisition of situationally relevant information pertaining to the mission ahead."

Gathering her -- rather light -- gear, Raven follows Lazur's lead.

"Well my bearded young friend, head east along that road up the plateau into Torch proper. After you get to the front square, follow the center road past one street. You can't miss it on the left." A moment later, he mumbles under his breath, "Wonder if Khonnir is back from his 2nd venture under the Black Hill yet?"

Locke hears a rumor:

Something’s been raiding Seven Tears Farms lately, crushing some crops and stealing others. Whatever’s doing it leaves these big round footprints in the ground.

Allen looks up the plateau at the city and mountain..."Woah! That's incredible...I'd wager it's beautiful when the Torch is lit."

He skips happily to catch up with Lazur, Raven, and the rest. He glances up at Raven, "So, uhm, sip a late more it or yum? Is that a kind of drink? If so, we should probably wait until after we find out more about our mission before drinking it."

With a rather taciturn expression, Locke touches the brim of his hat and thanks Drimplegatto.

Locke makes note of the rumor as another possible lead regarding the missing fire.

Assuming that qualifies for the captain's mutter, Locke finds this very interesting given the current company, and the group's friend/mentor's possible involvement with the situation in Torch. He believes he is on the path to having this matter resolved very quickly.

Whistling oh-so-nonchalantly, Locke casually begins to follow the Star Warriors...as in probably only a few feet behind them. In fact, if someone was watching they might assume he was with them!

With this, Analise looks up from furiously writing notes, realizing she's entirely alone with the gnome on the deck, packs her belongings hurriedly and chases after the group. She makes one last rude gesture at the gnome, who doesn't understand.(Earth gestures not entirely translating well in to Golarion.)

At the sight of Allen trying to whistle with Locke, "<Run: analysis> Ah! So it seems you know this one." says Rywokit to Allen. "So that is how you ended up with us." he accepts. He seems trying to be polite, but he also seems very distracted by something, and in a bit of a hurry to get to the tavern.

Val... he thinks.

Locke quirks his eyebrow because it seems to fit the moment when the wooden construct asks the cleric about his knowledge of the song he and Locke are both whistling.

Silly construct. Of course he knows that one. It's a Desnan tune for wandering called O Wide Sky that any priest would know. Locke finds a protocol for how to respond when a humanoid fails to notice something obvious and shakes his head and affects a chuckling smile.

The idea Rywokit might be referring to Locke's presence has escaped him for the moment.

As you enter the square, you notice a half elf exercising horses in the corral behind the stables, out front on a barrel sits an attractive Kellid woman. With a quick smile, she nods to the folks returning home. "Hello Jack! Have you gotten stronger?" flexing her muscles she asks,"Care for a rematch?"

Locals:

This is Annika a barbarian whose tribe was overwhemlmed by hill giants, who is living with Iven Lesky a half elf ranger that rescued her. They buy and sell horses and operate Iven's Livery Stables.

"What brings you back to Torch? You can't possibly have heard that ol' Khonnir hasn't returned from under the hill yet?"

Jack watches Lazur run off into the distance for a moment and turns back to Annika.

"My time away from my education here has given me a chance for ample exercise." He curls his arms in an attempt to display his strength.

"I should go check in with Val and make sure Lazur doesn't pop from worry. But I'll come back for a rematch later tonight. As long as you promise to not bat those pretty eyes again. That's a cheat way to win every time." Jack smiles at the woman playfully.

When Lazur starts running, Allen quickens his pace to keep up. "I hope he's not in trouble! It's probably the Technic League's fault if he is."

Though I hope he is in trouble. Wouldn't be much of a hook if he wasn't.

His theory was being proven more and more accurate based on the confirmation of this Khonnir's involvement with the Black Hill.

When Lazur shows evident concern and runs off, Locke's instincts are to follow immediately, but the others do not show the same haste. Locke hesitates and decides to stay with the larger group.

Approaching the woman, Locke affects a smile and asks, "Excuse me, did you say that Khonnir has been visiting some caves under the Black Hill?

She pauses for a moment then continues,"Khonnir, knows the machcheen stuff best. He found some caves under Weeping Pond and two days ago went in to fix the town's little problem. It's council business."

"Oh and Jack. I'm looking forward to our little game tonight. Best hurry and see to little Val, she ain't so little anymore I'd wager."

Analise was scribbling furiously until the mention that Khonnir was missing. She stood in shock for a moment, absorbing the information Annika was giving.

She blinked.

Then: "GONE?!?!" She then rushes up the hill, catching up with Lazur.

I'm switching Analise to an electricy specialist, because of the following IC reason: while wandering, the young mage would've developed tactics that are effective against robots.

As you arrive at The Foundry all is eerily quiet, you can't hear a single hammer clang in the adjacent forge and workshop. There is no smoke from the forges that usually burn day and night, while the visiting craftsmen make fascinating creations in their rented spaces. The door to the tavern is closed, it is never closed...

"AAAAAAIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!" screams a young woman from the small home behind the tavern.

"<Run: calming protocol> Look, Lazur," Rywokit starts as he finally catches up to the taller man, "running ahead of everyone won't help, just rela-" as the scream pierces the air, Rywokit is cut off.

"<Run: swear> ****." he sputters as he enters an all-out run.

Unable to determine for sure that it's an emergency, Rywokit decides to presume the worst - Val wasn't one for screaming that way unnecessarily.

Using his senses, he quickly aims for the fastest way to the house, and the specific location that Val's scream came from.

He quickly attempts to get a hold of the situation he finds, to understand whatever threats or dangers are in front of him. Whatever that may be.

He shouts "Hold on, we're coming!" And takes off running with Lazur.

Analise shouts "Nirakin Gonoli!" As she says the words, strange, golden circles interlaid with geometrical figures and mysterious runes appear at her feet, and Analise is a sudden blur of motion. Quite literally, as a matter of fact. She dashes to where the scream is coming from, fury and concern crackling across her eyes.

Casting Personal Dash on myself, giving me a run speed of 240. I presume I make it to Val before anyone else does?

As the Star Warriors move into action, Locke doffs his hat at the fit muscular woman and gives chase.

His chance to find out how this odd group managed to steal the fire from Black Hill was now! Something had clearly gone wrong with their plans as their ringleader had not returned from a foray directly under Black Hill after the fire had already gone out speaking volumes about the situation.

If he had been human, Locke would have cackled with glee. As it were, he once again found the closest approximation to the response he assumed was correct.

As he ran after the concerned band of Khonnir's family and friends, Locke could be seen pointing high into the air and heard shouting, "Eureka! I got it!"

Jack picks up the pace, jogging slowly behind the party as his armor and tower shield a bog to his speed. Tripping over a cobblestone, he manages to right himself and look up again just in time to see the blur of the sorceress speeding away from him.

I hope their eagerness doesn't get them hurt. he thinks to himself as the party runs towards the house.

Maybe it's just a tinker-spider or a clockwork snake, Jack hopes to himself. He seems to look up into the sky for a second and looks like he may have reconsidered something, then draws his pick.

After hearing the scream you all begin moving at your various speeds and prepped your weapons. The scream came from behind the tavern in the small house that Khonnir and Val share. All doors and windows are closed. As you get closer to the building you can hear a lot of crashing sounds and thumps making the windows rattle towards the east side of the house.

Rywokit, no longer caring, hurries directly up to the door, as fast as possible, feeling horrified at the idea that she might be in trouble and he's not there.

Fool! Stupid self-centered fool! he keeps telling himself.

As soon as the door is open, he hurries into the tavern, hoping to find Val.

"Val!" he cries, hoping to give her comfort... and/or draw the interest of any nearby creatures, either townsfolk to give help, or any who may be assaulting Val.

Perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5 I'm applying the penalty at this point, since he's so worried. I take two move actions getting to the Tavern. I'm both hyped up for our first combat and simultaneously ready for us to rush in, and Val to be fine, but trapped under a book case that fell on her, or something.

Tightening his grip on his shield, Jack charges through the path between the tavern and the shop, sprinting as fast as he possibly can towards the house. Recognizing his armored momentum's difficulty in adjusting course, he slams against the southern wall of the house; bouncing off of it with a grunt.

Who would attack Val?! She's just a child!

Analise bursts through the door with wild eyes, and goes to where to scream came from, preparing her spell of lightning.

"VAL! I'M HERE!" shouts Analise.

Using a move to get to where Val is, a standard to prepare Shock Arc, and a swift to call to Val.

He thinks to himself, I hope we don't need this, but here we go. With a loud voice, holding his silver butterfly aloft, "Desna, Goddess of Luck, let our aim be true!" With that he casts Bless for +1 to the party's attacks and saves vs. fear.

Lazur runs up behind Analise with his musket ready to shoot an enemy
Val lets out another scream, sounding terrified though not hurt.
Raven runs up to the window and smashes it so she can look inside to find the threat.
Jack runs straight ahead. Unable to stop himself he slams into the wall of the house and bounces back a few feet.
Rywokit runs up to the house shouting to Val to let her know there is someone coming to her rescue.
Allen realizing that there may be some trouble happening decides to grant Desna's blessing to everyone present.Doesn't effect the "constructs"
Analise pushes open the front door, and hurries down the hall, only to be stopped by the closed door to the storeroom. She prepares a spell ready to use it on whatever is threatening Val.
There is more loud banging sounds as a large metallic object slams into the wooden walls of the storeroom, causing the door right in front of Analise to shake.
Locke keeps up with the group.

Battle Map

The door in front of Analise is closed. Everyone can hear the sound of metal grinding and clanking and also the hiss of air through small tubes. The wall still seems to shake and Val's screams fall silent. A metallic voice with lots of static can be heard, "பழுது நெறிமு{static} ... பிழ{static} ... இயக்{static}று ..."

Androffan:

Repair protoc{static}... Err{static}... Rer{static}te..."

Raven looks in the window.:
Raven sees a robot with 3 legs smashing the wall opposite the window. A Kellid teenage girl is cowering in the corner, not screaming but sobbing quietly while trying to be as small as possible.

Allen scurries around to the east side of the building. At the window he quickly tries to open it, giving another access to the room including the southern (broken) window, and the west door. Looking into the room and seeing the monstrosity he stammers, "By the Calamitous Turn!"
He moves his full speed to the eastern window and spends his standard action trying to open it.

His initial purpose had been to pursue the potential criminal gang Star Warriors to their headquarters. Now he hears the cries of a young girl, and a great deal of clanking and other metallic sounds.

The sounds of distress cause his priority protocols to switch, and his concern becomes only that which is in need of assistance.

"You at the window! What do you see?" Locke rushes up behind Raven and readies his short sword.

If Locke can see anything past Raven, Locke would like the chance to see if his Knowledge (Engineering): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 will provide any extra info.

Jack hurries through the door, heading towards the metallic sound. As he approaches towards Analise he shouts out "What's making that noise!?"

Jack double moves through doors and gets as close to Val as he can through them.

"Vaaaaaaaaaaal!" calls Rywokit, bursting into the house, sees Analise, and brushes right past her into the room beyond.

"<Run: construct control protocol> Stop!" yells Rywokit at the thing. He prepares to cast ray of frost at the thing while standing guard over Val, if it actually attacks. "This is not your target! Obey!" it holds a deflecting hand and a protective hand over Val - a gesture to indicate peace and avoidance of violence if possible.

EDIT: He tries this in every language he knows, and attempts to imitate the language of the robot as best he can.
