It is a wonderful red sky-ed early evening in Port Peril. The fishermen rushing there boats out for the long knight ahead of them, the sounds from the taverns in the area just starting to pick up business as the sailors(pirates / navy), merchants and visitors gather for the evening. A halfling woman playing a fiddle and loudly singing vulgar tunes, in the corner. The bartender, stands behind the bar, wiping the glasses with a cloth that is filthier than the clothing he wears. He greats the "normal's as they come in. Two men seem to be having a chat with him as you come in before slipping of to a corner in the shadows...
(Welcome I figure well have some small RP in here to get to know the group before, we get truly going. That way to have some knowledge as to who each other are.)
Afzara |
Afzara slips into a nice spot to try and wait with her few coppers and see if anyone is offering any berths. Hopefully there will be one and it will have an apprenticeship to the carpenter. she thinks while she waits.
GM Valmoon |
It is fine with me. Any special rules you want to post about? Houserules or anything else working differently?
I plan to "try" to go as much by the book rules wise as I can. That may change at any time though... (Haven't yet ready the ship to ship combat rules or played using them so...)
Sasha Neville II |
Quietly slipping into the tavern, a short girl dressed in an old bloodied jester's tunic and ragged trousers, her black hair done up in a pair of cockeyed pony tails. she takes a seat at a table not near to many people and starts to size up the others.
She looks about for someone that is serving drinks and calls her over.
she quietly orders some mead
I am looking for a ship, something small, possibly taking passengers heading south, any suggestions? she asks the server not even expecting much of any reliable answer.

The young waitress nods at the request for mead. When asked about ships and directions they are headed. She shrugs a bit but, then speaks after a second of more thought, "There was a pair of sailors mentioning that they may head that way, She looks around for a moment and then continues. ,"but, I don't see them anymore. They may still be here though." After answering she slips off to get your order filled.
Afzara |
This is all out of character
My goal is the be able to fight at front when necessary. I have the crossbow. I can summon monsters but can't have Shell out if that is the case. With Shell I have climb speed which other than protection shapes and keeping up with enough attacks then will be adding swim and climb speeds as evolutions most times.
Afzara is going to be tight on feats but going to skill focus Craft Carpentry and that will depend on how fast she needs it. This is my first summoner character so will look at what she needs. Not sure what feats for magic she will need so most feats will be Point blank, precise, and weapon focus. Willing to listen to suggestions and helpful advice. Like will take Con to 14 then be putting stat points either in Str or Cha.
Xaven |
Once again the tavern door opens, the red sky a sharp contrast to his sea blue hair. Adfter taking a moment to survey the room, Xaven makes hiw way to the bar, calling to the barkeep for mead. Once his drink is in hand, Xaven turns his back to the bar, watching the tavern fill while listening to the halfling fiddler.
Hornan Fletcher |
Hey all, thanks for letting me play. As a barbarian, Hornan obviously will be active in front line combat.
The massive man sits at the bar, clearly a few drinks into his tenure at the bar tonight. "Fill 'er up please, barkeep." He takes his drink and turns around, looking at the patrons of the bar tonight. Freaky looking girl over there. Just the usual here tonight
Joseph Blackhand |
The cool breeze of salt air blowing in from the docks helped make the heat of the day little more than a memory among the cities citizens as the sun set over the horizon of Port Peril, leaving the denizens of Port Peril to bath beneath the fiery light of the crimson sky for a few more hours. Violet sash around his waist billowing behind him in the breeze one figure made his way jauntily through the streets, leather boots traveling the cobblestone path with purpose.
The city was renown as a haven for piracy and anyone looking to make a name for themselves as a buccaneer within the Shackles, it had been this reputation that had drawn Joseph all the way from Bloodcove at the edge of the Mwangi Expanse. He'd made the journey with the hopes of joining a crew and sailing out into the island chain that made up the Shackles, what better place to begin his career in piracy than the capitol of the Shackles itself. All he needed was to was find a ship that would be willing to hire him on as part of the crew, the Formidable Maid seemed as good as any place to start looking. Even if not at the very least he might find himself comely lass willing to share his company and bed before he continued his search.
Entering the tavern the young man took a quick survey of his surroundings, taking note of the steadily growing number of patrons that had taken to inhabiting the bar. Finding himself a table pulled a coin from his pouch and flagged down a passing waitress. "A meal and a flagon of whatever you have to drink in this place, love."
Sasha Neville II |
Sasha continues to look over the tavern room looking for potential sailors that may be able to help.
Perception roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
She soon spies someone at the bar trying very hard to hide his true nature.
interesting...now this could be very useful
Sasha takes her mead and moves to the bar approaching the man hiding is features.
would you care to join me. I do believe tht you are the right one that can help me. she says quietly to him (as best she can over the fiddle player.
eventually the fiddle player starts to be annoying and as she goes back to her table whispering in a dry raspy voice.
cast Sotto Voce on the fiddle player
fiddle player needs DC 13 Will save or be shaken
Sasha glanes back to see if the man follows.
Xaven this conversation was for you
@afzara Sasha saw you as well but she was more interested in the fact that Xaven was attempting to hide his identity which is the deciding factor
Willis Cana Dhum |
Willis continues eating, with a gusto that may be a bit off putting. The last 72 hours have been a hellish blur, but he knows one thing: he has to get out of town fast, before the Endless Twilight returns to port.
Oddly enough, the halfling gunslinger will not be a front line melee combatant :) I see him as the guy zipping along over head ropes, scurrying through holes blasted in the sides of grappled ships, and generally being a consummate opportunist. Hopefully he will be accurate enough with his gunfire that he contributes, but at the very least, he will draw off bad guys to prevent him from setting fires, blowing up powder magazines, and generally being a pain in the butt. For advancement, I figure he'll focus on gunnery oriented feats, possibly to include the ships larger weapons systems.
Xaven |
Between the halfling fiddler, his second drink, Xaven did not notice Sasha's approach until she was right next to him. the right one...that's new
Not bothering to talk over the noise, he nods, grabs his drink, and follows her back to the table. On the way he notices Afzara for the first time. who is she? Would she know of my people? Perhaps destiny is not so elusive
With a final glance at Afzara, Xaven sits and turns to Sasha "If its company you want, I wont say no to such a pretty lass; If its business, depends on the pay; either way best start with your name."

Sasha almost laughs at his first comment. then immediately turns serious.
I am Sasha, and I actually have need of your talents; assuming I can aquire a ship.
Sasha looks areound the room to see if others are interested in their conversation.
you try to hide what you really are, but this time your talent betrays you. she puases a moment
you are a water creature, I can only assume you can breate underwater. I need somone with that skill. I am tying to locate something. think you would be interested?
Joseph Blackhand |
Perception roll: 1d20 + 2 = (2) + 3 = 5
Yeah Joseph's a bit more focused on finding a barmaid to seduce.
Joseph took a moment to survey the tavern while he waited for the barmaid to serve him, brown gaze eventually falling on a rather attractive tiefling conversing with a sun baked man off near the bar. She was more exotic than the women he usually pursued, however her companion made him reconsider just up and approaching her immediately.
Turning his gaze elsewhere he spied a massive Varisan of roughly the same height as himself downing one of what was evidently many drinks not far off from the pair. Elsewhere a shaggy haired halfling was tearing into his plate while an exotic woman with blue skin and what appeared to be fins jutting from her head in place of ears sat observing the crowd.
Turned his attention back towards the tiefling Joseph noticed that she had relocated herself to a table away from the bar, her companion moving to join her and continue their hushed conversion. Their proximity made it easier for Joseph to catch snippets of their discussion, though he was careful as to mask his interest in their business. "Breath underwater eh? What manner of creature might we have here?"
Afzara |
Afzara sees the people around her and nods when someone catches her attention. She is nursing her drink and seems to be intent on something. Doesn't seem too rowdy so hopefully there will be a captain or first mate looking for some new hands come in.
Xaven |
Sasha, I'm as much a water creature as you are a hell fiend. But yes I manage quite well beneath the waves, now what exactly are we searching for, sunken treasure?
Though Xaven says the last with a laugh, he remains seated, his curiosity piqued.
GM Valmoon |
fiddle player needs DC 13 Will save or be shaken
The halfling woman playing a fiddle finishes the song shortly after Sasha's quite words and after a moment of chatting with the bar tender walks out back with a glass of water and her fiddle.

at the hell fiend comment Sasha instinctively runs her fingers through her hair trying to see if her horns are protruding. realizing that her ability to hide her features were no better than Xaven's she gives a half smile trying to hide her embarassment.
Bluff check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
well you could say it is a treasure but not necessarily the kind you might think.
She lowers her voice a bit more since now the music has stopped.
I am looking to find and retrive something that was buried at sea. anything else discovered is of no consequence to me just the one item sent to the deep with the body. interested?
Willis Cana Dhum |
Disappointed that the music stopped, Willis looks around the bar, his interest in establishing a professional contact piqued.
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 Does he notice anyone who appears to be a recruiter? Sitting at a table with a large ledger and a sack of gold perhaps?

roll me a sense motive check please.
You notice the two men in the corner that were talking to the bartender. These two men look like they belong on a ship and they are looking over everyone in the bar but, both show no sign of it being an open recruitment. As the halfling went out back, one of the two makes a gesture and then you notice three men slipping out back after a nod from the man. A short while later you see two of the three come back and wave the bartender over. The men have a short conversation and the two men walk back to there original seats.
You may see more in a moment.

Yeah Joseph's a bit more focused on finding a barmaid to seduce
A very nice looking barmaid comes up to you, gently grabbing your hand she pulls you deeper into the bar. As she does so she asks all sorts of questions. Are you a sailor? What would you like to drink? Would you like some food? Do you like the music? There is a bit of flirtation in her words.
based on your perception roll you wouldn't see this however, please roll me another perception roll and a sense motive thanks.

during her conversation with Xaven Sasha seems a bit nervous but after a few moments she appears to have shaken it off disregarding any insticts she may have had. apparently she is still upset at her own ability to disguise her fiendish appearance.
She keeps her attention on Xaven now as he ponders the offer.
perhaps we could recuit others to join us? she whispers

The barkeep shacks his head shrugging before he grabs together some of the best in house mixing it up in a glass for you and slides it down to you when hes done. "bottoms up lad"
Do you have any coin left over from character creation?
Ravalyassa Gladomain |
Just when everyone was in the midst of their conversations, Ravalyassa glides in the front door of the bar gracefully. Only Xaven was able to notice her.
I see that I am not alone..she smiles at Xaven before she changes her skin color to human flesh shade and immediately changes it back to her blue skin.
Why bother? Blue is sexy... Ravalyassa smirks before settling beside Xaven.
