Everyone has posted in Gameplay thread, so we are good to go. This run will be low tier.
Barbra the Barbarbarbarian |
To be fair, Barbra is shy. I play her 7 charisma as "no force of personality," and "extreamly awkward in social situations." I know there are other things in play here, I just wanted to be sure we were all on the same page. I've had people misinterpret how I play her, so I just want to clear any misgivings. You can continue on now.
GM Valen |
I may not be updating much over the weekend due to Father's Day. Happy Father's Day to any parents out there!
GM Valen |
@ Argenta - Really enjoying the roleplay! May I suggest though that your re-read the Venture-Captain's briefing before posting further?
@ All - As I may not be posting the remaindee of the weekendnand much of the party has "gone to bed", feel free to discuss plans any out of character plans in this thread.
GM Valen |
I've had people misinterpret how I play her, so I just want to clear any misgivings. You can continue on now.
@ Barbra - I am finding Barbra to be refreshingly different from other adventures and a bold choice for roleplaying. I encourage players to play their characters as they wish and have no issues with the way you portray her. I also appreciate your acknowledgement that your character has the potential to raise issues for some and your sensitivity toward other players.
GM Valen |
@ All - Pacing is always an issue for a GM and, perhaps, more so with PbP as I can't get visual feedback clues as to whether I am moving things along fast enough or not. I've enjoyed the roleplaying, but I think it is time to move things along.
So, I have tried to crystalize the conclusion of the current "scene" into the following:
1) Please have a PC state exactly what you want to Thakur's men to do
2) Make a single Diplomacy check. I will allow each of the other PCs
to attempt to Aid Another (please state whether you are rolling the primary Diplomacy check or Aiding Another. I haven't looked at party's spell prep, if any, but I suppose that may also be an option.
To that end, you may wish to discuss amongst yourselves in this thread who will be the primary and whether there is any magical aid.
As they are friendly, the Thakur's men would allow the PCs to converse amongst themselves before making their request.
You've been told an ambush is almost certain to occur. The results of this request may impact how many hostiles you are likely to face.
Barbra the Barbarbarbarian |
Though Barbra would never say this, maybe try to convince them that we can completely dismantle this guy’s network, and make sure that he never darkens their doorstep again. Either through killing him or forcing him to work for us. Promise to keep them in the loop as we do our stuff?
Hannar the Wild |
I know we have already started, but I wanted to make sure. This is a CORE game and all characters are CORE, right? I just don't want to have this character converted to standard due to a mistake is why I am asking for verification.
GM Valen |
I just want to take a moment and say a couple of things that I think are already evident, but I want to say them anyways.
First, this group has been doing some great role-playing. Interesting character choices. Great descriptions. Bold plans. This game is already far exceeding my expectations for a quick, pick-up, first-come-first-served game.
Second, you guys should be very impressed with what you, as a party, just pulled off. The Thakur's men were intended to be a considerable wrench and obstacle in the execution of your plans. Also, the party's bold choice to be forthright could have easily blown up in your faces and I tried to give you opportunities to "back out", but you went for it! And Argenta would not have succeeded had she just tried to do it on her own. Great teamwork. I applaud that and, so far, it has worked out for your PCs.
Fernando's post in the Gameplay thread said it better than I just did (and in character no less!), but, still, well done.
Now, don't start thinking that this means that I am going to start taking it easier on you from here on out...
: P
GM Valen |
Just a heads up. I'm going to be heading out of town for the weekend. I am not sure how much opportunity I will have to post.
Should be back on track for post rate come Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!
GM Valen |
I will be away for most of tomorrow, July 4th, so next GM update may not be until sometime July 5th.
Fernando The Smiling |
Friends, forgive me for my late posting. I am on my way to Canberra, Australia, where I will be studying for the upcoming semester.
I am currently posting through a chilean airport's WiFi, and after leaving here, will be on a 15-hour flight. I understand if this means that Fernando needs to be botted in order for the game to flow more naturally.
GM Valen |
Sick as a dog, bot me if need be. 2 rnds of rage used
Sorry to read you aren't feeling well. Get better!
Wylka Forth |
A lot of people getting sick. I think in every game I'm in, someone has posted they are sick and will be either slow in posting or asked to be botted.
GM Valen |
Quick question, Does Fernando's success count for both of us? I wasn't sure when we were still upstairs.
The faction missions no longer have any impact on the chronicle for the PCs (and some GMs thus no longer even include them, but I think they are fun and interesting, so I do). However, even under the old rules when the missions were in play, generally, the mission was considered a successful for all as long as someone in the party accomplished the mission task.
Argenta Ibn Jad |
I am away from tomorrow until Thursday next week. I will do my best to post as I can.
GM Valen |
Due to work and a few other demands, I don't expect to get chronicles out for about a week. If you need them earlier, please let me know.
Thanks again for a very fun game!
Argenta Ibn Jad |
Many thanks all, it was a lot of fun.

Thank you for being patient! Your chronicles should now be available here.
As a token of appreciation, not only for your patience, but also for your skills as players, I am offering you a chance to take a trip to the Blakros Museum for my core run on Game Day.
Thescenario is Echoes of the Overwatched. The recruitment thread can be found here.
I'm giving players from my last two core scenarios (including this one) a chance to snag any spots first. Then, I'll open it to general recruiting thread on the weekend if there are still spots open.
Wylka Forth |
Chronicle looks good. Thanks for the offer on the Gameday game, but unfortunately Wylka is already signed up for a game on the 1st stage of Gameday.
GM Valen |
Thank you for being ever more patient! Each of your CORRECTED chronicles should now be available here!
Happy gaming!
GM Valen |
I appreciate you alerting me to the errors I made. It allowed me to catch a few more.

I plan to keep this thread open another week. If there are no changes or corrections by then, I'll mark it inactive.
Thanks again, all!
