Hold onto your fly spells as you may need them here real soon. Waiting on post to push forward from the Overseer.

Post arrived!

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
*******************
You guys are the most seasoned Pathfinders in the event, you are kind of a big deal... no pressure, but 84 junior Pathfinders are probably very interested in what you choose to do...
Alie Saechel |
I don't suppose we should dim door past it and leave our fellow pathfinders to suffer. We taking this thing on, or does anyone have a better idea?
GM Tyranius |
Let me know your intentions and I will push from there and report it to the Overseer :). The junior Pathfinders will indeed need your aid in getting past this behemoth.
Boswick Bumbleberry |
Q: Is this the big bad, or another big dragon?
Oh, Boswick doesn't sneak by a Black Dragon! He kills them! How far to the Mausoleum from here?
COMMON ON! Boswick yells to his comrades urging them to conflict.
We must smite this evil menace!
Depending on how far, Boswick either rushes over to it OR is willing to take smarter, faster ways to travel if the Mausoleum is a ways off.
Tyranius |
This is not the big bag but rather a big bad. It looks to be far larger and far older than any of the dragons you have faced as of yet. Huge even in terms of sheer size.
Sareth |
"we fight. We must be as a beacon to those who look up to us."
Sareth will summon aid (a hound archon) to the battle.
"so any of you know the abilities of such a wyrm?"
-Posted with Wayfinder
Alie Saechel |
I have two scrolls of Stoneskin and one scroll of Mass Enlarge person. Should we blow them all here?
Rogar Stonehand |
How far is it from Rogar?
Pounding his head on Boswick's armor, "Haha YAH! Ai'm ready, you ready? Let's crush this Bos!" He'll run along side Boswick into the belly of the beast or in this case, its Maw.
Because Dwayne is within 30 feet of me, I have Resist Acid 5, oddly circumstantial buff right there
You're call Alie, those are big scrolls aren't they, the Mass Enlarge I'm sure would be nice for us three heavy hitters
Boswick Bumbleberry |
Up to you Alie, but would definitely be helpful.
Depending on how close we are to the dragon, Boswick will use a couple of buffs, if we have a couple free prep rounds?
Boswick claps Rogar on the shoulder, Indeed, time to crush!
As Boswick eyes the huge dragon he looks for weaknesses or anything unusual.

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
*******************
The huge dragon is an imposing site, and has brought the small army to a bit of a standstill, some start trying to work out a way around – seeing a chance to make a break for the single door and hopefully passing through it to the safety of the mausoleum.
A half a dozen of the most seasoned Pathfinders instead ready to make their stand, drawing swords and casting spells – their faces set in grim masks of steely resolve.
Alie Saechel
Boswick Bumbleberry
Dwayne the Rock
Oxirane
Rogar Stonehand
Sareth
This is the vanguard leading an assault on the dragon, each one of them heroes towards the twilight of their careers – leading what may be their final charge into glory. Should they fall this day their names will live on in song – and forever be engraved on the Wall of Names.
A small number of other journeymen Pathfinder seem equally set on following up on the charge with their steel also at the ready.
Still waiting on reports, so let your GM know your intent. More to follow...
Oxirane |
Yeah, I'll fly in on the griffon.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Tyranius |
Oxirane summons a majestic griffon and rides forth to the entrance of the Masoleum. The same huge dragon that carries Charvion and the cage away is perched atop the roof. Small holes are pockmarked all throughout as lines of acid drip from her maw. She looks to be guarding the entrance to the west. Upon seeing six noble pathfinders step forth into her sight the huge black dragon let's out a mighty roar. Louder than many have heard in their lifetime as they cover their ears. A few of the younger Pathfinders run away in absolute fear. She looks as if she is getting ready to launch herself from the roof as she rears back.
You have time for whatever buffs you want to use as you had plenty of time from seeing it fly overhead.
New map is posted.

Some Resist Acid would be nice...
-Posted with Wayfinder
Alie Saechel |
Alie uses her Mass Enlarge Person scroll on the three melee types. She then casts Resist Acid on Oxirane. She doesn't charge the dragon, hanging toward the back, hoping the boys up front can wear the beast down.
If we live, I'll use the Stone skin scrolls before the BBEG.
Sareth |
Sareth will cast his own Resist Acid.
Is there any way we can rally the other tables? While I missed out on this when it was a Gen Con multi-table, I heard people talk about how the high level tables literally shouted to the room that we needed to "concentrate all firepower on the super star destroyer" if you know what I mean.
Boswick Bumbleberry |
As they head towards the Masoleum, Boswick calls upon Iomeade to enhance his Longsword.
Activate divine bond, give longsword +1 and holy. So now +2 Holy Shocking Adamantine.
As they draw near, he taps his armor once more and drinks his Potion of Fly. Crusading and drink Potion
When they are at there current distance Boswick calls out a challenge.
Foul beast! This day is your last, your evil can not abide in this world any longer. Iomeade guide my blade as I smite this monstrosity!
This round, Swift smite evil, activate boots of speed. Move to dragon. Attack.
Boswick flies toward the dragon at great speed blade glimmering as he goes.
vital strike + smite + haste: 1d20 + 18 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 18 + 5 + 1 = 42

confirm crit: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (20) + 24 = 44
crit damage: 2d8 + 5 + 22 ⇒ (6, 2) + 5 + 22 = 35
not sure if smite damage doubles
on my phone please move my token. Also my AC with smite, Crusading, and haste is currently 37 vs. the smited dragon
Rogar Stonehand |
Rogar will have also drank his potion of fly, he'll follow right alongside Boswick, charging the dragon, adding stonestrike to his Longaxe, when he lands, he'll enter his defensive stance before attacking.
Longaxe + DS + SS: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 2 + 3 = 24
Damage: 3d6 + 15 + 3 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6) + 15 + 3 + 3 + (1, 6) = 38
vicious: 1d6 ⇒ 1
"Ya got nuthin' dragon, ya gonna die here!"

Boswick Bumbleberry |

Correct weapon dice
damage reg: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4, 4) = 14

Sareth
Voros cries in a corner, forgotten by the overseer xD
Voros drinks an extract that gives him the ability to fly around. When the dragon appear, he uses once again his wand to give him the ability to have more weight on his arrows. He rises, drinking another extract.
If it's ok, I'm drinking fly, then using gravity bow, then drinking Targeted bomb admixture while moving up (round 1).
Sareth |
Question for the GM and the overseer. This would be impossible to do in another setting, but Sareth has the Divine Presence Domain Ability. It's a 30' radius Sanctuary spell that works for everyone in the area, individually. Sareth would ABSOLUTELY use this ability to cover the less experienced Pathfinders, even if he had to make a final stand doing so. Not having read this special, I don't know if there's a mechanic for it, but I'm totally putting it out there.
If not, Sareth casts Air Walk.
At the completion of the Summon Monster spell, a hound archon doesn't make much sense, so Sareth opts for a medium air elemental instead. Likely won't do much, but it can flank!
The elemental tries to slam its fist into the dragon's belly: Slam: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 2 = 29 for DMG if hit: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Oxirane |
I don't think I can ride the large griffon while large myself, so I'll pass on the enlarge. Can someone move me?
Oxirane spurs the griffon into the air to charge the great dragon. Pounce with the griffon, charge+Stunning and Elemental Fist (cold).
Bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 Damage : 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Haste: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 Damage : 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Talon: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 Damage : 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Talon: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 Damage : 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Ride: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Oxirane : 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 = 24
Damage: 1d10 + 10 + 1d6 + 3d6 ⇒ (2) + 10 + (5) + (5, 4, 2) = 28 DC 20 Stunning Fist
Maybe +2 on those from flanking?

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
*******************
The battle is joined with ferocity, he show is far more spectacular than the entertainment in the Irorium earlier.
The most seasoned Pathfinders appear to be faring well, and a small cohort of around a score are in lending them aid and trying to harry the dragon.
One enterprising group has simply abandoned all due care and has crashed the gates into the mausoleum, leaving the entrance wide open for any who can make it across the courtyard!
GM Tyranius |
Is there any way we can rally the other tables? While I missed out on this when it was a Gen Con multi-table, I heard people talk about how the high level tables literally shouted to the room that we needed to "concentrate all firepower on the super star destroyer" if you know what I mean.
There are a few tables fighting along side you as we speak.
@ Boswick- looks as if the consensus is that Smite does not double on a crit so looks like damage is 74 total on the crit 40 from weapon damage, 22 from smite, 4 elec and 8 holy. Correct, Enlarge drops AC by 2.
@Rogar- 1d12 goes to 3d6
@Sareth- Yup sounds good on the divine presence.
Oxirane spurns the griffon forth. It pecks and claws with all of it's might but neither it nor Oxirane is able to penetrate its powerful defenses.
Alie hangs back and supports as many as she can by enlarging the group and resisting as much energy as possible as they all charge in at once around her.
Voros quickly drinks as many extracts as his stomach will allow as he flies towards the dragon.
Rogar flies up to the roof alongside boswick and enters a defensive stance beside the black scaled beast. His Longaxe clatters harmlessly off of the thick scales as it is unable to pierce through them.
Sareth quickly emits a large aura around him protecting all of the younger and least experienced pathfinders as much as he can. Calling on Sarenrae he begins to walk on the air itself. Sareth commands the winds itself as an air elemental itself appears near the dragon. It attempts to slam it's full force into the dragon but seems to have little to no effect.
Boswick leaps into the air, flying towards the mighty beast on the roof. Boswick's deadly blade finds a vital spot in the older dragon's hard scales and pries a few of them right off the beast.
Harmed by Boswick the dragon roars in defiance as it leaps into the air. provoke AoO from Oxirane, Rogar, Boswick and Air elemental.
Flying 30 feet above the courtyard the dragon spits a massive stream of acid over the courtyard. It splashes all about the roof, covering the Griffon, Oxirane and Boswick.

AOO
As the dragon flies away Boswick takes a chop at it.
AOO attack: 1d20 + 18 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 18 + 5 + 1 = 39
damage: 2d6 + 2d6 + 1d6 + 5 + 11 ⇒ (3, 4) + (3, 2) + (5) + 5 + 11 = 33
The beast spews it's acid breath, Boswick attempts to avoid part of it.
Reflex v DC25: 1d20 + 12 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 12 - 1 + 1 = 26 Pass!
Boots of Speed still active
Boswick flies after the dragon harrying the evil intruder.
Going to use my A Sure Thing trait to get a +2 to this attack
Vital Strike + Smite + Haste + A Sure Thing: 1d20 + 18 + 5 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 18 + 5 + 1 + 2 = 42
Damage (weapon, holy, shock): 4d6 + 2d6 + 1d6 + 5 + 11 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 4) + (4, 3) + (6) + 5 + 11 = 44
Rogar Stonehand |
Aoo first
Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 13 + 2 = 16 Splendid
damage: 1d12 + 15 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (9) + 15 + 3 + (1, 1) = 29
Rogar grumbles something about damn moving targets, will provoke an AoO from the dragon, to fly up next to him and chop him with his long axe. His fatigue has set in from ending his stance early.
Attack - fatigue: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 13 - 2 = 12
damage: 1d12 + 15 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 15 + (2, 3) = 25
Ouch, double ones, Rogar loses some 20 hitpoints, dropping back down to 118 when he ends his stance. He'll probably take a hit here form the dragon, he does have DR 5/Adamantine
GM Tyranius |
Oxirane's griffon melts under the sludge of acid that assaults it. The only one that seems to weather any of the storm is Boswick. As the dragon flies away, only Boswick is able to land another deadly blow on the beast as he and Rogar fly directly at it once again.
As Rogar flies too close the dragon snaps it's jaws down on the armored dwarf.
AoO Bite vs Rogar AC 25: 1d20 + 26 - 5 ⇒ (10) + 26 - 5 = 31
Damage: 2d8 + 13 + 10 ⇒ (4, 7) + 13 + 10 = 34
Acid Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11
The dragon tears nearly a quarter of Rogar's armor off of his shoulder but rears back as Boswick digs deep into it once again with his blasted holy electrical blade of dragon slaying. The dragon's eyes lock onto Boswick as he is now an immediate threat sa it snarls at the paladin.

The griffon shrieks beneath Oxirane, and collapses back into a figurine, leaving the Dwarf floating to the ground. When he touches down. Oxirane leaps back into the air, and delivers a series of blows to the dragon before floating down again.
Flying Kick into the air, like he did against the smaller dragons earlier. The movement provokes.

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
*******************
Under heavy attack, the mighty black dragon falters, blood spilling from dozens of wounds. She staggers forward, raises her wings, lets out an ear-piercing roar, and takes flight, headed for the harbor.
Voros |
Well, that was fast xD
Voros aims the dragon but when he's ready to fire, the dragon flees.
He stands there uselessly and eventually shrugs, going down to meet the others.
Boswick Bumbleberry |
That's the second time one of those Black Dragons has run from Iomedae's justice! Boswick spurts as he hopelessly watches the dragon bugger off, shoulders slumped from not finishing the job, he lands and looks for injured fellow Pathfinders to heal.
Big cowards are what they are, I was ready to met Iomedae if it was her will. I guess I will have to find its in lair and slay it there. Puffing out his chest once more regaining his confidence in an instant.
Now where is the one that caused this trouble!
Boswick looks for clues of where to find this Charvion.
That's a shame, wish Voros and Alie had gotten to act at least; and I was very curious to see if it was able to kill me with all it's attacks, it would likely have like 5-6 attacks...oh well, sorry folks.
Voros |
No hard feelings, Bos ;)
Voros looks around with Boswick, trying to see where is indeed the person that brought chaos on the lodge.
Alie Saechel |
Alie smiles at the others. "Thar was very brave, boys. I've got a feeling we will end up seeing that beast again before today is over."
Sareth |
"Huzzah! Truly that was some of the most courageous work I have ever seen!"
Sareth drops his aura and looks about, "but I fear our work is not yet done."

@Boswick- yes, The dragon had an AC of 32 with 6 attacks/ power attack at +21/20/20/18/18/18. Min damage being 124 if all hit and max being 192 hp.
Pathfinders pour through the main doors into the Dissection Rooms. These rooms contain large, steel surgical tables. Their perimeters are lined with additional work areas whose tables are covered with texts, surgical instruments and tools, alembics, scales, abacuses, and similar devices used in alchemical and biological tests. The rooms also hold barrels of wash water, along with bottles of various fluids and salts used in sterilization and embalming. The center of the floor contains a drain for run off, as well as a few waste buckets.
Heading further in you find the Ossarium. This cavernous hallway is contains a number of elaborate skeletal displays. The reassembled creations consist of both accurate assemblies and imaginative creation built from the bones of multiple specimens. Several large, glass cylinders contain colonies of dermestid beetles for cleaning bones. Several have actively decaying specimens. Arches along the side lead to small workstations. Near the back sits another, larger work area filled with kilns, a hearth, and some large iron vats. In the middle of the floor, six corpses lie piled together is a pool of blood.
The Ossuarium is used to process and display the bones and skeletal structures of creatures. The side workstations contain large workbenches, which are strewn with bones or arrangements of bones. The benches are equipped with a variety of equipment, such as chisels, hammers, magnifying lenses, glue, wires, and other tools used for reassembling skeletal structures. The back work area contains a number of kilns for drying and preserving samples. Near the kilns sits an open hearth with a row of cauldrons for boiling off flesh, marrow, and fat from remains. The corpses lying on the floor are all those of Pathfinders, necromancers who were working during the incursion.
GM Tyranius |
Ossuarium is the western most room.
Sareth |
Sareth quickly moves to confirm that they are dead, stabilizing any who aren't. He looks to the others before advancing into the building any further.
GM Tyranius |
As Sareth investigates the room two goblins giggle as they hide underneath the workstations. he has little time to react as the little green menaces leap from the side and knock over dozens of glass jars all around him.
Thousands of beetles begin to swarm all about the room, covering Sareth and the two goblins who begin to scream in terror as the beetles quickly devour what is left of the corpses lying on the ground.
