Evenstar |
One of Evenstar's legs throbs as the creature's venom works its way through her veins. She binds her leg as best she can, but proceeds with a limp.
She hands her wand to Ptolomeo. "Do you mind?" she asks, clearly asking him to heal her.

"It will be a pleasrure."
Ptolomeo heals Evenstar with her wand.
Illuthion Cinderrain |
Illuthion nods in assent after having kicked over a stray pot in barely vented anger. "Yeah 'Mo. Sengali square sounds fine. Torch stealing our s~+% after having screwed us over though... Hey, Magic-Man McGee, you got any spells that fit in the "F-U Torch" category? Unless Anger-Management here wants to carry the stuff."
GM Tyranius |
Sounds good Evenstar
After several more minutes of walking you make your way to the Fetching Fan café on Sengali Square where you spot a man that meets Buri-Buri-Ban's description from a short distance.
It seems as if someone passing by says something to him. Without looking about he drops his napkin onto the table and leaves the cafe. As he stands and retrieves a potion out of his waist-sash. As he drains the potion he begins running, package in hand. By the time he’s taken three steps across the square, he’s already invisible.
You watch as several people in the square are knocked to the side, making his route a bit easier to determine.

Sorry, just Ghrezzd being Ghrezzd. He doesn't care much for dwarves or gnomes. Halflings too, for that matter. Half-orcs disgust him. Humans, he tolerates them as long as they bathe. :)
GM Tyranius |
The refinery is a two-story building with no windows. It looks well and frugally made, and the only decoration consists of the name painted above the door and a stark sign by the entrance that is written in Kelish.
For those who don’t read Kelish there is a helpful icon of a stylized flame with an X through it.
The refinery is a large square space, 100 feet on a side, and is used for refining Sianti chaff into the extremely potent and fairly valuable spice of the same name. The room is full of spice vats, wooden stairways and catwalks; chains and rope hang from elaborate pulley systems and the lamps are continual flames completely enclosed in glass globes. The refining process creates a tremendous amount of dust which is constantly settling on everything and swirling around as the refiners go about their work. The refinery is lit only by natural light that spills in throw large windows on the ceiling and upper walls.
As you enter you see a ripple in the dust moving across the refinery floor 20 feet from the main entrance.
Going to take it into initiative to make it easier. As you enter each round I will need a Perception check for you to be able to see Buri Buri. Auto succeed if he moves and Dc 15 if he stands still. He still has the 50% miss chance due to invisibility. I will also need a DC 10 Fort save for the massive amount of dust or you are sneezing (Nauseated) for the round.

Not sure what your DC for Grease is Banquo but I am assuming that a 20 beats it as you would need an insane Cha mod and/or feats. Let me know.
Buri- Buri seems to have little trouble and doesn't even seem to notice the grease on the floor as the dust floating in the air seems to have stuck to it giving him a little traction.

Turning to the cretins who tried to grab him, Banquo shouts "Do not dare lay your hands on me."
Seeing that the refinery help do have weapons drawn (no AoO), Banquo rushes up to see Gjrezzd cast webs on Buri. Not knowing if Buri will be able to get out of the webs or not, Banquo draws his Sword of Station, points it at Buri and yells, "Halt!"

Ptolomeo |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Ptolomeo just take a look at Ghrezzd.
Evenstar |
With her companions in hot pursuit, and trailing them with her hurt leg, Evenstar decides to change course, and retreats back the way she came, hoping to cut off the other entrance.
Double move, back into the yard, then head toward the other door.
GM Tyranius |
Henrick pushes his way through the crowd like only a dwarf could. The workers seem to pursue but not openly attack the group.
Banquo turns just in time to watch Angel fall right into the pile of grease. Firts pits and now grease. She seems to be a trap magnet. Growing tired of the guards Banquo decides to try using his adult voice and commands Buri-Buri to stop this nonsense.
Will save DC 16: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 2 = 25
The swirling dust doesn't even seem to break in stride at Banquo's incessant shouting.
Ptolomeo shrugs and tries to use Angel as a clean spot in the grease. As he tries to leap over her he slips and falls right next to her face first in the grease.
Using his magic or just showing off, the rest are unsure but Ghreezd is able to magically teleport straight across the mass of floundering dwarf and angel and casts a bit more difficult terrain in the small building.
Reflex DC 19: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
The group hears a small yelp as the webs seem to mix with the dust. Evenstar leaves the building and begins to circle around the outside to the opposing doors.
The voice from the webs sounds a bit panicked at being bound up. I give. I give. Just take whatever you came for. Don't kill me!
Henrick Bulwark |
"That's better. Why are you running? We just came to ask some questions..." well, maybe not just...
"Do you know who we are and what we are looking for?"
GM Tyranius |
As the invisibility wears off the man looks quite confused. I don't know who you are. I was just told that someone was after me and this statue. Looks like he was right!
He shoves the statue into Henrick's arms. I don't need this s#&*. Please just don't kill me....
Illuthion Cinderrain |
Illuthion bites back with effort a retort to the elf's statements, marches up to the webbed merchant, avoiding grease and other perils and snatches the statuette brusquely. "Got anything else on ya? Claritin the alchemist has raised his prices again." he spits venomously.
Banquo |
Banquo looks at his sword, "I think this thing must be broken. It never works..."
Angel gets up and both him and Banquo join the group talking with Buri.
Angel: Is Illuthion going to kill this guy?
Banquo: I don't know - still checking out his sword and shaking it a bit.
Angel: Well, shouldn't we do something before this escalates?
Banquo: Be my guest.
Angel lightly places his hand on Illuthion's shoulder, looking at him with a face of an innocent.
Banquo chimes in, "Well, it looks like we got what we were looking for. Shall we push onward? I believe we have somewhere else to be, yes?"
Henrick Bulwark |
"Seems a little too easy. How do we know it is the real statue we seeks?"
Ptolomeo |
"Seems a little too easy. How do we know it is the real statue we seeks?"
"In the same way we know about those other two... We just simply don't know". Ptolemy stands thoughtful, pondering what he had just said.
Ghrezzd |
Ghrezzd shakes his head in disbeilf, "And whoever said that dwarves were daft, hasn't witnessed these two discussing an intellectual conundrum. I say we search him and make sure he doesn't have another statue on him."
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Illuthion Cinderrain |
Illuthion relaxes slightly, but obsserves the man's pat-down without movign away. "Give it a minute Banks-o-heavens. Please." he adds almost as an afterthought.
Evenstar |
"Great...we got one more. Now let's go find the last one," Evenstar growls, still not feeling herself with the centipede venom slowing her down.
"Thanks for the statue, bud," she adds.
Henrick Bulwark |
Henrick pointedly ignores Ghezzd's comments. "Very well, we will return if this isn't what we seek."
GM Tyranius |
As Ghreezd pats the portly man down he finds little else on the man. As the party leaves him he drops to his knees with a heavy sigh and thanks whoever is listened for not being killed.
The Pathfinders set off to the Secure Market. The Secure Market is designed for people who don’t like surprises. Situated in the foundation of an ancient tower and surrounded by walls with no windows, it is accessible by one heavily-guarded, narrow entrance from the Central Market to the north. Visitors may not bring weapons into the Secure Market, though the merchants, their personal guards, and the Secure Market guards can. The market is under an anti-magic field—no magical charming, pecuniary prestidigitation, or counterfeit conjuring can happen in this place. It’s a popular place to do business for those who take security to the level of fetish, and who can afford the stall license. Each license has to be visible on the stall whenever it is doing business, and even one license, transferable as they are, is worth a small fortune.
The guards stop the Pathfinders as they approach. Halt! Either show your license or remove your weapons and leave them here.
Ghrezzd |
Ghrezzd opens the flaps of his outer robe to reveal a dagger hanging from his belt. He points to the dagger with his right fore finger and the dagger unsheathes and floats over the guard.
"I expect that back, in the same condition as I have given it to you, upon my return."
For clarification, is it truly an anti-magic field or just a rule against magic?
Banquo |
Seeing Ghrezzd's display, Banquo follows suit and releases his weapons too.
Angel: I think I'm going to like this part of town. No weapons. No fighting.
Banquo: Oh, I assume there will be a fight.
Angel: But you have no weapons now.
Banquo: I have you, dummy... I love you, by the way.
Banquo grins at Angel as they both walk in.
I assume Angel is okay to come in to this part of the city.
Evenstar |
Evenstar reluctantly places her adamantine greatsword on a table.
"This weapon is worth more than your first-born son will ever be," she says. "If anything happens to it, trust me when I say it will not end well."
Henrick Bulwark |
Henrick likewise removes his weapons, and simply watches.
"Can I bring the camel?" he asks, pointing with his thumb over his shoulder.
Ptolomeo |
With no greater reluctances, Ptolomeo deliver his weapons to the guards.
GM Tyranius |
It is indeed an anti-magic field. Angel will wink out if she enters the field. Any and all magic weapons and armor simply become mwk weapons and armor.
Everyone hands over their weapons to the guards as they shows signs of annoyance. You are ushered into the Secure Market, to include Henrick's camel.
As you wind through the market, you see a stall with a large sign that reads Marafi's Wares. Two half-orc guards stand outside the stall, watching all of the potential buyers. Marafi is currently speaking to another customer about a sack full of exotic spice. You see a statue sitting on a table on the far side of the stall, about 5' behind one of the guards, next to pillar and an alcove.
Saldin Marafi’s stall is at the back of a narrow notch in the edge of the Secure Market, an architectural oddity that should make it possible for the Pathfinders to steal the statue from him undetected by the guards at the gate.
Illuthion Cinderrain |
"So who here is sneaky? I'm not. I'm loud and pissed off. I plan on using that to create a distraction. That is, of course, provided that someone here can do the important part seethes Illuthion as he looks back at the entrance where the Angel waits with the group's weapons. What a crock of s@+& this is.
Henrick Bulwark |
"I can be stealthy when I need be, but to what end here? Perhaps a cautious, straight-forward approach will serve us better?"
Ptolomeo |
* Croak! *
"Yes, I'll advise them, calm down George", the dwarf whispers to the frog in his pocket.
"Just remember that if something goes wrong, we are without our weapons, my friends."
Banquo |
"I miss Angel."
Banquo looks forlornly across the market, looking for his buddy.
"Screw this."
Banquo walks ups to the stall with the statue. With friendly gestures and tone, Banquo greats Saldin, "Good day to you, sir."
Banquo spots the statue and briefly looks it over.
Appraise: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Evenstar |
Evenstar looks out of place without her weapons. She cracks her knuckles nervously.
"Stealing it seems like a good idea...it was stolen property, anyway."
