Grimnir's first attack misses as the creature blurs to the material plane but his second attack splits the entwined bodies as it tears them apart for good.

With the creature defeated the group is able to further inspect the room. The remaining slides are actually able to be used as cards from a deck of illusions when they are shattered.The images include another adhukait and two slides each featuring other types of asuras, including an aghasura, tripurasura, and upasunda.

Yes, they are loot. Basically you break one and the creature will last 1 fight maybe 2 as it can't move outside of 30 feet from where the slide was broken.

"Thank ye," Grimnir tells Grinner. Actually didn't need that many charges...I have DR4/Adamantine, so had 8 less dmg.

"Shall we try th' door?" the paladin asks.


Terry will grab the mirrors since nobody else seems to want to. He then moves up beside Grimnir and waits for the door to be opened after casting heightened awareness again and shield from a spell scar.

I'm having trouble distinguishing between doors, windows, and other features. Must be the shifting nature of the place. But I put terry on the other side from Grimnir of what looks like a potential door.

The open spaces are just open doors in this section.

Polished mahogany panels and wood floors end abruptly at weatherworn stone arches—old temple walls that frame the house’s center. A glittering glass butterfly mosaic spreads across the floor, the insect’s wings outstretched toward carved marble columns.

This temple foundation is a more idealized version of its real-world counterpart. Providing disturbing contrast to the horrific scene on the stage is the light, playful giggling of unseen children echoing through the stone chamber.

Below the looming rock face of the Old Wall stands a raised wooden dais holding a stone altar. The scattered and bloody remains of a strange tusked creature are spread everywhere, its torn limbs and entrails strung up in a gory lattice. Its dead-eyed head leers disturbingly, from the altar, its tongue lolling from its dislocated jaw.

Madam Carrington baku’s life did not end well. The creature was disemboweled here. hanging its entrails about the stage in a macabre drapery. While gore covered, the stage’s floor is intact.

@Terry- There is no specific religion present though if you had to guess it has to do with Mog-Lathar and the Cult of Spiders as before. Not sure which ritual you are referring to?


The entrails and everything smacks of a ritual. I guess I'm wrong about that. Also with all the butterfly's 'floating' around I was wondering if they temple had been associated with Desna or the Black Butterfly

Ah gotcha- Nope no ritual just pure brutality. And correct this room does have a sensation and feeling of Desna all about it.

An ornate wooden staircase descends from the upper story, opposite the rocky face of the Old Wall. An elegantly carved fireplace mantle, fine art, and exquisite tapestries are offset by a standing pool of black, fetid water in the northwest corner.

Fine art fills most of this gallery, primarily portraits depicting several generations of the Caligaro family, but also landscapes and some marble sculptures on ornate stands. In almost all instances, the figures depict unattractive nobles and malformed creatures with bulging goiters and melting flesh. The creatures seem to gape and jeer at trespassers, but only from the corners of an onlooker’s vision. Other paintings depict witches performing rites, scenes of torture, and strange landscapes that turn to swaths of fiery destruction as viewers avert their gaze.

Assuming everyone follows. Terry suggests the stairs leading up when he hears a familiar cackle. One he has heard in the house before. The cackle comes from up the stairs. The garishly dressed Sally Scrabblebones descends from the top of the stairs, her wicked laughter offset by the sickening thump of Madame Carrington’s head landing on each step as she drags the spiritualist’s limp body behind her. She snarls at Terry, “You want her, don’t you, dearies? You’ve come to take her from old Sally Scrabblebones, have you?” She calls down from the top of the stairs.

Sally Scrabblebones is dressed in tattered, garish finery that hangs limply off her bony frame and she wears disturbing smears of makeup that only make her horrific form all the more terrible.


"Well, as a rule I don't take toys away from children, but I think this is an unusual case, don't you fellows? You've been a very naughty girl."

I don't know who you think I am, but that approach will not work on me. I'd sell my own mother for a decent break. So, lets try this again. What's in it for me? And don't bother with the 'your life' comeback. We've already proven we can take you out."

I hope they don't stab me in the back for that.

What looks to be squiring for her life in the dream realm is in fact Madam Carrington taking her fate into her own hands as she grabs ahold of a heartstone gem from the hag's belt and feebily tosses it down the stairs towards Grimnir.

Sally shrieks as her eyes grow wide. She drops madam Carrington from her grasp and rushes towards her precious gem.

Seeing it near Grimnir Sally points a finger at the dwarf and a coruscating ray springs from her hand.

Grimnir quickly bends down and scoops the stone up, stuffing it into his pocket before Sally or terry are able to reach it.

Grinner charges his hand with holy healing energy from the motes of life hanging in the air and heals Madame Carrington's more grievous injuries. She weakly smiles up at the Grippli, happy to see a familiar face.

With the Heartstone pocketed away terry steps in and slashes his blade at Sally's exposed flesh.Though she looks fragile she is actually quite agile and dodges each of Terry's attacks, except for one as Terry flanks with Grinner. Though his blade doesn't do nearly enough damage as what he put behind it. DR

Gerard needs the group to hurry and bring down the hag quickly. Confined she claws and bites at Grinner.

Grimnir is only able to land a single blow as the hag dodges everything else, much to his dismay. Not only that but she resists a good portion of his Dorn Derger. DR

Grinner nearly collapses from being drained so much of his life's essence and slowly withdraws to regain his composure.

Terry provides little more than a distraction as he steps in to flank Sally Scrabblebones. "Looks like I will be having both your flesh along with the cripples!" She cackles with glee.

Terry sights down the length of the blade as if looking for some defect to explain the flurry of misses, then shrugs. He leans against the wall and asks, with a grin of course,

"Say, Carrington, what can you tell us about that thing old bones there was so distracted by. Hope you don't mind us putting the fate of the world above yours. Seems small minded of us, I'm sure."
