Gerard Abrigone |
Gerard follows suit and casts preparatory magic as well, specifically Mage armor which will last seven hours, and False Life, granting him 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 temporary hit points.
Grinner the Grippli |
*Ribbit* "We definitely should prepare." Grinner waits until closing in on the House on Hook Street before casting.
Grinner prepares by casting or using the following:
- Barkskin on Terry. (+3 natural armor, 70 minutes)
- Barkskin on Grimnir. (+3 natural armor, 70 minutes)
- Pass Without Trace on everyone. (7 hours)
- He drinks an antiplague. (+5 against disease, 1 hour)
- He drinks an antitoxin. (+5 against poison, 1 hour)
GM Tyranius |
All gear goes with you and spells work as advertised.
Preparing for a final assault in the realm of dreams of the group steps onto the porch.
Gerard: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Terry: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Grimnir: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Grinner: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Gerard and Terry quickly stop the group as they notice a pair of the vines that seem to be moving on their own, hidden among the choking ivy.
Assassin vines are hidden just above the set of doors as well as the window.
Maps are reposted. Slide 1 is 1st Floor; Slide 2 is Second floor and Slide 3 is attic area.
Terry PBP |
Well this house is covered with vines. I'm sure we could climb up to the second floor elsewhere and get in that way. Let's try."
Not waiting for a response Terry goes over to the area labelled G18 and starts climbing at the corner.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Time to burn a panache for a bonus...
Panache bonus: 1d6 ⇒ 6
A vine breaks, but he grabs the loose end still hanging there and gracefully swings to another cluster of vines.
Total of 13.
GM Tyranius |
Gerard: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Terry: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Grimnir: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Grinner: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Quickwood: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Assassin Vines: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
As Terry swings wide around the Assassin Vines he climbs up onto the deck and leaps up onto the vines hanging high overhead. Though the vine snaps he is able to grab at another quickly enough to maintain his hold.
Below the boards creak and moan. Looking down Terry watches helplessly as the boards merge and form into a living creature that reaches up to crush the magus with malevolent eyes.

Standard Action
He casts a Wall of Fire in a ring around the tree.
Wall Of Fire Damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (3, 3) + 8 = 14
The ring is opaque and covers part of the tree. It is partially in the wall right now so took full damage from the spell (no save). If it wishes to remain in the wall, it can enjoy full fire damage again each turn.
GM Tyranius |
Grinner creates a wall of fire around the massive wooden nightmare, severely burning it.
The creature has SR so keep that in mind.
Grinner SR Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
The creature doesn't seem to absorb the spell but even though the fire is burning away at the wood it doesn't seem to injure the monster in the slightest. Immune to fire
A series of roots reach out of the ground for Terry.
Root vs Terry FF AC 22; PA: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 12 - 2 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Pull vs CMD 20: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31
The root quickly wraps around Terry's legs and drops the magus down onto the deck hard. Losing his breath Terry has little time to scream as the wooden monstrosity pulls him into Grinner's wall of fire.
Terry Fire Wall damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 1) + 8 = 15

A spell that depends on concentration is dismissible by its very nature, and dismissing it does not take an action, since all you have to do to end the spell is to stop concentrating on your turn. Though wall of fire is concentration + rounds so it would still stay for some time. So yes, you may retcon your action Terry if you want. Though do keep in mind that this things roots can pull 10 feet so if you leave the wall of fire you take damage and may be pull back through it again taking damage a third time. Keep that in mind.
