Gerard assumes a defensive posture as Grimnir takes the risk and rises to his feet.

Two of the plants stingers poke out at the dwarf but aren't able to penetrate through his armor.

Swinging his spiked ball around he batters and eliminates one of the plants.

Only get one attack as you had to stand, not allowing you a full attack.

Terry slides over to the remaining plant surrounding Grimnir. His blade pierces the plant's exterior as electricity courses through it's roots. Hisses and pops are heard all throughout as the water inside it's roots quickly evaporates, leaving behind a husk.

Maynard quickly moves over the table and slashes his own shortsword at Terry.

Gerard curls up more and more into his defensive fetal position as Grinner does what he ccan to hold Maynard in place.

Maynard freezes in place as fresh tears continue to roll down his face that stays contorted in fear and confusion.

Grimnir takes advantage of the situation and steps in obliterating the remaining plants.

Grimnir agrees, and takes a length of rope from his pack and begins to tie the man's hands and feet.


Terry will slip Meynard's weapon from his hands in case he pops out of it.

"Probably the plants. I saw how they sent tendrils into some of you and I think Meynard suffered the same fate. Perhaps a remove disease or poison will help? Maybe a protection from evil as that helps against mind control. I do have an antiplague if the spell is not available."

Before Maynard has anymore time to react and attempt to break the spell the group quickly bind his wrists and feet as they kick his weapons away.

Near Carrington a maniacal laugh is heard as it fades once again.

The contortion happened soon after.

A crooked, snarling hag—Sally Scrabblebones herself— is hunched over Madame Carrington, laughing maniacally. The forms of children with slit throats clutch at the hag’s legs as she reches through from another plane of existence.

A dark shadowy figure hovers behind Maynard. As the shadow moves as does Maynard as the shadow also seems to be anchored from another plane of existence, just out of reach.

Both the missiles and the rapier seem to pass through the images. Though they seem to be corporeal, they still seem to be residing in the Plane of Dreams as their vile magic seeps through.

Realizing they are being seen and noticed the pair vanish with a sneer, though Madam Carrington still seems to be arched in obvious pain as her life force is slowly being drained.

Maynard slumps to the floor where he begins to cry quite profusely. "Thank you for not killing me. I could...couldn't help myself." He blubbers that “a terrible shadow grew in my mind."

He turns to Carrington. "You cannot let this be her fate..." Mortal magic on this plane can’t seem to free Carrington, and you are now faced with a two-fold problem. Without the baku’s protections, yourself and many others are subject to the nightmare plague, and Carrington is now wasting away in the cold embrace of a deadly spell.


"We may be able to help, using the book we found, but it will take time. Unless you know of some way to expedite matters?"

You currently know of three ways to enter the Dream Realm.
1. Using the Book- Will take 5 more days (If everything with the spell goes right) or it could take a bit longer.
2. Use of Shiver has a chance to go to sleep and enter the Realm as you can tell by the many deaths.
3. The Demon's blood contraption in the shiver den that killed the Barvasi Band can be used as well.

The Shiver and Demon Blood is far more of an immediate effect than the book but with more risk obviously, though the book takes more time it could kill Carrington due to taking too many days.

The group soundly leaves Maynard to tend to Madam Carrington as he dabs at her forehead with a damp cloth. Heading back to your rooms the group remains undisturbed for the remainder of the night though the night air is pierced by the sounds of an unearthly shriek.

The second day seems to go off without a hitch as the Wormwood wine is drank while the ritualistic chant is completed. The group spends the remainder of the day milling about after staying up most of the night, recovering and trying to formulate some sort of a plan as they stay within the confines of their room.

During dinner reports of several more ashen gray corpses show up, though this time they seem to be showing up closer to the inn rather than the House on Hook Street.

Terry is cocky enough to try. First thing is to try a disguise.

Disguise: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

It's pretty cheesy, involving a cloak with a hood and a bad accent, but its the best he can do. Then he attempts to sneak back to the shiver den to see if there is any action there.

Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

He will cast vanish on himself to go invisible for half a minute when he gets close (and use an arcane pool to get it right back in case he needs it to escape).

Terry:
Terry throw on a different shirt and pulls his hood up. Happy with his disguise he sets out into the shady part of town with a forced dwarven accent.

Sneaking back into the shiver den he finds the unsurly lot finishing cleaning up the mess from before, though that has not seemed to stop their business as they have had to deal with deaths in their establishment in the past.

Using the shadows Terry approaches the door where a thick hand is placed against his chest, while the other hand holds out a palm for the payment to enter from the door guard. Looking down he merely grunts.

Rest of Party:

Assuming someone is going to aid Day 3's Ritual check as you are currently failing it by 1.

The group continues with the ritual and further discussion of changing locations as Terry heads out into the town to procure more Shiver.

As the ritual nears completion for the day the spell seems to be becoming stronger and stronger with each day as word from Maynard is that Lady Carrington becomes weaker and weaker.

Standing from the ritual Grimnir suggests changing locations before being located when he hears a feminine laugh come from the shadows.

"It's won't help you none as we already know where you are. And now you are exposed!"

The shadows meld and shift as what looks to be a cultist walks forth from the shadows. Though this cultist looks to be a form drawn from nightmares as her twisted distortion she has strangely exaggerated features and purplish eyes. Sharp rows of teeth protrude from her mouth as she speaks.

Sickly dark shadows lurch out from the corners of the room, clawing at all within.

She slowly strides forward with such confidence as she draws a spider-leg sickle from her side. The display is truly frightening.

The Ex-Communicate seems to speed up her movements as she lurches at the party with resounding speed.
