I’m addicted to Glass Cannon, but I’ll admit that I didn’t really start to love it until around episode 60. A few things happen around then that really step up their game.

Painlord and I were discussing the healing system in Starfinder (and how much of a pain in the butt it is) and managed to work out a way for this group to be a little more efficient.

Treat deadly wounds is a tough skill, but we figured out that if Dash has his medical kit and takes 20 with Vetch aiding, we can hit DC 30. This takes 20 minutes, and can only be done 1/day, but heals 1/level + Dash’s intelligence modifier (+3).

Yea I get that they were trying to get away from everyone having a healing stick at lvl 1 but the healing is a bit rough.

I am playing this AP in another group and am playing a healing mystic to try them out. My plan is to purchase a needler rifle with merciful infusion. That way I can fire MK II Healing Serums at people.

I have medicine +9 so I can automatically make the aid check, and I heal the same as Dash if I'm the main roller.

New FAQ (link) up everyone!

They answer the vexing question of how much you can carry before being encumbered and other weighty matters.

My favorite though is this:

That is awesome! This one at least had some good questions answered. Almost need an errata'd book reprint with the big changes and stuff left out of print.

This is sort of interesting. The site I had been going to Starfinder SRD has had to change all their naming from Starfinder to Starjammer (you old people might remember this).

I'll link to the new Abe-approved Nethys one now, but it's interesting how and what these sites can use.

Reading through the Starfinder Alien Archive Book and found more interesting news on dealing with Swarms.

Swarms take damage from weapons differently depending on how the weapon targets them.

A swarm is immune to attacks and effects that targets a single creature (including single-target spells), with the exception of mind-affecting effects if the swarm has an Intelligence score and an ability similar to the formian’s hive mind

A swarm takes half again as much damage (+50%) from effects that affect all targets in an area, such as grenades, blast and explode weapons, and many evocation spells.

A swarm takes normal damage from an attack or effect that affects multiple targets (including lines and fully automatic mode attacks).

So looks like they opened up a bit more outside of just grenades.

So by the drone rules (link), I can rebuild Messalina when I level up, which I hope to do. However, it takes 24 hours to accomplish. As I doubt we’re waiting a day (though Zane is awfully injured), can I ‘hold’ the rebuild until we get some downtime, or do I lose it?

I think our ship also upgrades as we do. Here's what I suggest for the ship.

SUNRISE MAIDEN STARSHIP
UPGRADE 4th level (20/20BP) (+10hp, Computer to Tier 2 (+4 Hack DC (21))
Core Upgrade to Pulse Red (+2BP)
Computer (Countermeasures (Alarm, Lockout, Fake Shell @ 1BP ea.)) (+3BP)
Biometric Locks (5BP)
Medium Shields (70) (+2BP, +5PCU)
Medical Bay (8BP +4PCU)

A few notes:
- Core upgrade to make sure we have enough power for everything.
- The computer stuff and the biometric locks are to protect the ship from theft more than anything else. Not strictly necessary I suppose, but feels important.
- Our shields need a bump to save us cash on the hull repairs. And lengthen our combat ability.
- Medical bay seems appropriate given our propensity to damage.

Next level I'm thinking about improving the computer for better bonuses, shifting our flak gun to the turret for easier rocket protection, and adding torpedoes of our own.

These are just suggestions though. Happy to change whatever if folks would like.

You can hold it until you can use it. I wouldn't ever have you lose a feature for something out of your control.

Exactly. The only real clock is the amount of food you have. The more you get lost the more days you are out here.

Correct it does. You ship now has +20 BP and has increased in HP(+10) as well. As a medium starship you can also have 3 weapons in each arc as well as 3 turrets. Just have to purchase weapon mounts.

3 BP for an arc and 5 for a turret. Though you still have to buy the weapons at that point as well.

Hello GM, I elected the Enhanced Resistance Feat. It seems powerful, and I've read the message boards on it.
I would normally choose Kinetic , but I'd also not want to imbalance the game- So I am more interested in taking Energy Resistance- Fire. Gaining DR 4 to fire (or Lasers with "F" - right?)

@Zane- Enhanced resistance Feat seems fine. I don't think it will be broken by any means. It's original intent by the developer was for it to be broken down into choices as well for the Kinetic side (Bludgeoning, slashing, piercing) But obviously that got changed so now Kinetic side of the house can go all the way to DR 20/-.

I sill don't think that will break too much as you can tell so far most Kinetic forms hit for way more. That dino was striking for 1d6+10 so 11-16 damage. Even with your current level BAB for that feat you would have only knocked 4 damage off of that.

Not only that but you are still open to all of the elemental weapons systems which are also very prevalent in this game so far.

In essence play what you think will be fun and fit Zane. You can't make a bad choice with that feat as you will help resist some forms but still be open to many many more.

I’m failing at figuring out Starfinder system. Apparently half of Dash’s skill bonuses are typed as an insight bonus, which don’t stack. For an operative, this is a stupid oversight. They give the class two skill focuses, but add in a broad skill bonus from Operatice’s Edge of the same bonus type which scales over time, rendering the initial skill focus obsolete by level 7. So anyway, I guess I need to rework some things and recalculate some skills.

This system is turning out to have some really frustrating quirks.

@Dash-Yea the Operative is a bit weird and those two abilities don't overlap at all. Which was not intended from what I read on the forums. People are expecting a FAQ errata to make the skill focus not an insight bonus, which I am fine with.

If you want to make the skill focus feats an unnamed bonus go ahead :)

@GM. I defer to everything you say. I am just new to these rules and jumped in mid adventure focusing more on making Zane's personality --well "Zane" . The character sheet was daunting and secondary.
My character sheet might be wrong and I need your help. I actually think my base speed is 40 as he has the Blitz Fighting Style and Rapid Reponse feat. His Initiative is +4 and his landspeed is increased by 10. Lashunta ringwear II gives a -5 foot speed adjustment, so I think I'm at 35 feet move.

Hmmm...Just reading over that Pathfinder 2nd Edition information it almost looks like they drew alot of it from Starfinder. Almost as if we were sort of playtesting portions of it from the beginning.

@ Dash. I looked up a bunch of things on Soldiers the last couple days. I have weapon specialization on lasers .That gives me the +3 to Lasers.
I have Weapon Focus on Laser. +1 to hit. Plus Gear Boost. Another +1 for Lasers.
I really tried to understand the Soldier rules and so I checked. Especially since the sniper is getting +4 to damage and +8 to hit.
There is probably a build I am missing, but I do have feats to increase HP's and create cover and Damage Reduction. So not having another +1 to hit or Damage might be missing as I didn't take that feat.
I can send you my Character. you can see if I am missing anything.

@Zane: at 3rd level soldiers get Weapon Specialization as a bonus feat for each weapon type this class grants you proficiency with.

Soldiers are proficient with basic and advanced melee weapons, small arms, longarms, heavy weapons, sniper weapons, and grenades.

Weapon Specialization Feat: you add your character level to damage with the selected weapon types, or half your character level for small arms or operative melee weapons.
*Note: You can never have specialization in grenades.
