GM Tyranius |
You are only sickened in the rooms above level.
There is nothing to been seen in this room besides a doorway to the south and a path leading north.
Ruprecht Antillious |
Ru moves to the door to the south and takes a look for any possible traps.
Perception 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
Disable Device, if necessary 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
Ramsis |
Ramsis contemplates for a moment. know local: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 1 - 2 = 13
This hill has been built up by successive civilizations, but the first owners are rumored to have been dark cultists and demons. I wonder what they may have trapped below that might have just now escaped.
GM Tyranius |
Ruprecht studies the door to the south. Seeing no traps he attempts to open the door. Though it seems to be unlocked it still does not open. The door feels as if it is barricaded from the opposite side.
Will need a Strength check to open
Ruprecht Antillious |
"Any of you stronger types can pop this door open for us? Seems stuck."
GM Tyranius |
Elliot caresses the wooden door as he looks for a weak point on his first push.
Taking his time the dwarf tries again, digging his feet in deeper. The door begins to budge ever so slightly. He feels if he had just a little bit of assistance he could get it open.
Anyone assisting?
Ruprecht Antillious |
Ru tries to throw his shoulder into the stuck door as well.
Strength Aid Another 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
GM Tyranius |
:) Just needed 1 to assist for the Dc as he was so close.
Ruprecht slams into the door with Elliot. The door slowly pushes open revealing a pile of rubble blocking your path. Clearing the pile of rubble takes but a few moments.
The walls of this long chamber are of brick, the ceiling supported by stone arches. Remnants of bedrolls and other camping equipment lie along the southern wall.
Ruprecht Antillious |
Ru points at the camp site. "They might still be around," he whispers.
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
GM Tyranius |
Ruprecht finds nothing of interest in the camp though the door to the north seems to be wedged shut and barricaded from the opposite side similar to the door he just opened.
Ruprecht Antillious |
"Anyone want to push our luck and force this door open, too?". Before he lets the others push their guts out, he makes sure there is no trap nearby.
Perception 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17
GM Tyranius |
Ruprecht does not notice any obvious traps.
GM Tyranius |
Bump for Ramsis and Elliot.
GM Tyranius |
Assuming you are just going to Take 20 again seeing as it is a similar door.
Cracking the door open slowly the opposite side is also barricaded with various furniture and rubble.
Taking a few moments to clear it away reveals mounds of rubble that line the walls of the partially collapsed chamber, though here and there patches of brickwork are visible on the floor and walls. One rounded alcove remains in the northern wall, though it lacks a sarcophagus.
Ruprecht Antillious |
Ru again scans the room, trying to be careful as he does so.

The group easily dispatches the remaining two creatures as the third lies on the ground unconscious.
As the two creatures die they combust in a flash of blindingbright white light, leaving just a pile of rags and a dagger lying on the ground.
You are left blinded momentarily within the chamber but within a minute you regain your sight back.
GM Tyranius |
Turning back the group heads to north to a set of stairs leading further down.
The long stairwell descends several hundred feet, passing through multiple architectural styles as it winds around. By the time the stairwell widens out once again it the style is of carved stone and natural cave.
Swathes of dried and foul smelling black slime cake the entire length of the stairs. Water drips down along the walls here and there leaving narrow trickles on the steps.
Ancient
The stairs open into a wide cavern.
Room A 10
Ancient stone pillars support a stone ceiling here. Thick sheets of pale fungus and mold cake most surfaces. To the south, the hall has collapsed into rubble, but to the north it opens into a vast cavern in which eerie glowing light flickers. A thick dry smear of black slime and strange circular prints in the mold runs from the flight of stairs in the westwall to the northern portion of this cavern.
This room looked to have been some sort of processional room for an ancient religion.
Room A 11
An immense cavern sprawls here, it's floor an uneven jumble of loose stone and fungus, it's ceiling rising like a church cathedral to a height of nearly a hundred feet above. Glowing fungus grows thick on the walls, bathing the cavern in ugly hues of purple and pale blue. Toppled pillars and mounds of rubble dot the western half of the cave, while to the east a mound of fungus, bones and rubble rises. At the mounds apex squats a flat topped altar stone, with towering barren trees rising on three sides, their leafless branches twisted and groping towards the ceiling above as if in search of sun's warmth they shall never feel. A trickle of what appears to be sludge runs thickly and slowly from a hollow under the altar stone to gather to the northwest of the hill in a swampy pool. Four cave passages branch of from the cavern, but only the one to the southeast has not been blocked by a series of relatively new looking iron bars. A swath of black slime and round footprints winds from the wide passage to the southwest up to the southern bank of the pool of sludge.
The mangled bodies of two men in dark robes lie in the room. One a hunchbacked man floats facedown in the pool of sludge. The second a google eyed man lies slumped against the eastern side of the stone altar. Both bodies are bloodless and twisted like rags and covered with deep incisions like circular bites or cuts.
On top of the hill near the altar hunches a humanoid creature with long sharp teeth and pallid flesh stretched all along it's gaunt body. It is chewing on the arm of the robed man near the altar.
Looking up the creature notices the new intruders. In a strained voice it yells. GO AWAY! THIS IS MY FOOD. MY BOOK. I FIND THEM FIRST!
[spoiler=DC Knowledge Religion] You know this creature to be a Ghoul[/b]
Ruprecht Antillious |
Ru withdraws in horror at the undead munching away on a corpse. "We must prevent this undead monster from spreading his corruption!"
He plans on moving 30' toward the undead and throwing an alakhest bomb at it. (5' diagonal, 20, north, 5' northeast diagonal.)
