Menarul smiles proudly has his plan is put into action, and proves successful. He also takes mental notes of the elementals and mephits movements, actions, bearings, coloring, decision processes, and judgments.

When Zahleh starts asking questions of the group, Menarul is so caught up in observing her that he doesn't respond. However, when she starts bemoaning the futility of trying to rescue the Duke of Thunder, he takes notice. "Our group has already cleared three parts of this asteroid of hostile creatures and we have even started to get it rotating again, evening out the temperatures. “The crater has been claimed, but our divinations indicate that Ayrzul is not happy about this! We’re experiencing unexpected surges in gravity everywhere, especially near the crater and vault!” Sorrina Westyr declares, madly strapping herself down as everything as everything rattles and shakes around her. “Hold on!”

Meanwhile behind her, Drendle Dreng is holding up a bottle, as he weaves back and forth in the convulsing landscape. “I feel the earth move under my feet, I feel the sky tumbling down... WOOOOOO HOOOOO!”

As soon as Sorrina disappears from view, you feel the earth rumble and you return to normal weight for a few seconds. Zahleh obviously feels the change in gravity as well, more so than others due to her massive size. "Hmm I suppose I may have underestimated you." She nods solemnly, and smiles. "If it as you say, and your teams are all here, then we may stand a chance." Four water elementals float up next to Zhaleh. "Children, these people will lead us to victory. Let Ranginori be freed from his prison deep within this place. ... All of us will know freedom, just as we deserve!" Inspired, the elementals shoot streams of water up at the ceiling.

She turns down at you. "Since you were so willing to help me when I was in dire need, I will grant you something truly special. A wish. Just one, of course. Choose wisely.""

Yes, you really get a wish! The scenario specifically mentions wishing for health (back to full HP), armaments/equipment (5000 gp worth), or wrath (weakening your next encounter). We have allowed other tables to ask for other things but they have to be within reason. The scenarios specifically says it can't be something permanent like stat increases.

"While you're thinking on what to wish for, I should explain how I ended up here. We once served Kelizandri, but rebelled against him at the behest of the winds that issue from inside the asteroid. I was foolish to think I could defeat him on my own though, and me and many of my followers ended up imprisoned here. These winds from inside the asteroid carry a sort of thundering, yet somehow faint voice, and it makes you feel compelled to listen. As if to call out to us. We need to follow that voice - it must be Ranginori."

A perplexed look crosses the marids face as she listens to Kronas's response. "A have met very few gnomes in my long lifetime, yet your kind always surprises me with your....odd nature. If it were as simple to free Raginori as granting you what you ask, I would. But alas, that is outside my current powers. And while I can not turn your enemies into baby cats (what an odd request, I will never understand mortals), I can weaken them for you." She raises her massive blue hand towards the ceiling, and utters a few phrases. For a moment, you feel lightheaded and dizzy, as if you may pass out. It's as if some supreme being is altering everything around and inside of you, but the feeling quickly fades. "It is done. Now make haste, and do what you can to aid your allies in freeing Raginori from his prison."

With the Ice Reservoir now firmly in control of the Society, you make your way towards the vault. A half-elf in a flowing green robe who seems to be in charge, directs you where to go. After navigating some more frozen tunnels, you eventually find the entrance to the vault, and the tight passages quickly open into a much larger chamber. Vaulted arcs of stone create a bizarre network of geometric recesses, like a petrified beehive but in orders of magnitude larger. In one cell stands an altar smeared with blood and ochre. Before you have a chance to explore further, you realize you have drawn the attention of some unfriendly creatures. One of them charges at Kronas with a claw, but the gnome just dodges it. As the creature took its swipe, you swear you heard it let out a tiny meooowwww.

In shock that the genie would offer them a wish and then paralyzed by all of the options that entails, Menarul stays mostly quiet throughout the rest of the conversation with Zahleh, slightly muttering to himself about the merits and demerits of different spells that they could wish for. Still out of it when the actual spell is cast, he just follows his fellow Pathfinders out of the room. When he realizes what happened and asks for details, he relaxes a little, glad he didn't have to make the decision.

Surprised by the undead, and the meow, Menarul gives a laugh. "Kronas you said this was going to be a kitten. It's a little big and not cat shaped." He then gives a gleeful smile. Finally! A target I can bomb!

He quickly bounds a few steps closer and takes note of the creature's location and the prevalent conditions. Reaching into one of the pockets of his bandolier he pulls out a round vial filled with two different colored liquid. He gives it a violent shake. With a rattle and the muffled sound of glass breaking, the liquids mix and start to violently boil. He takes aim and lobs the whole thing at the far-grease covered creature.

★ - OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT - ★

The asteroid groans as if an invisible weight had been lifted from it, leaving the air cleaner and breathing easier. The reassuring breeze emanating from tunnels suddenly drops in intensity, leaving a feeble stream that whistles weakly as it drifts off into space. A moment later, portals wreathed in tumbling stone open all across the asteroid, and Sorrina Westyr urgently beckons everyone to come through.

“We've truly grabbed the scorpion by the tail. Whatever entity was holding us at bay has loosened its grip, but it has redirected its efforts to cutting off the source of air that allows us to survive in this place. The path forward is no longer filled with lethal energy. We have at most…an hour or two before we must return home or face asphyxiation. But if we press forward and find the source of the air, I believe it is tied to whatever captive is imprisoned here. Our portal minders will stand ready in case we need to evacuate quickly.”

Sorrina leads the assembled Pathfinders toward the edge of an immense, steeply sloped tunnel that descends into a miles-wide, spherical cavern. A crude stone fortress floats near the cave's center as if it were a rocky sun, and enormous slabs of earth orbit it like a miniature asteroid belt. These slabs gravitate inward toward the fortress, but periodic blasts of air slow their approach and cast the jagged masses back toward the edge of the cavern. Each gust is slightly weaker than the last.

Robed figures cling to the rocky slabs and chant loudly, as if empowering the stone. Unimpressed, Sorrina Westyr casts a spell at one of the distant cultists and flings him off his crude platform.

Aiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee!” The cultist screams, arms and legs askew as he hurtles toward the fortress and collides with its surface with a faint splat.

“Woo hoo, Bullseye!” Drandle Dreng claps, then goes back to organizing a party of Pathfinders who are busily unpacking knotted ropes. “Hurry, there’s not a moment to lose!”

“We must get to that fortress,” Sorrina announces before signaling others to lower knotted ropes down to the cavern. “Clear off the opposition, then we'll make our way inside. I find it reassuring that whatever lies within the fortress has an aura of good, and no doubt seeks our aid.”

Coming through the portal Menarul spends time observing everything in the area and partially listening to Sorrina's speech. When she finishes, he takes off his pack and scrounges around in it. After a moment he stands up straight and flushes. "I don't seem to have a rope... Can I share one with someone else?"

When indicated that it's his turn to progress down to the fortress, Robyyn simply steps off and allows himself to float down.

Unless something prevents him from taking advantage of the continuous Feather Fall effect from his Flight hex. Edit:
he'll climb.

Without hesitation, you rush and follow the holographic image of Sorrina Westyr deeper into the asteroid. Soon you see many other pathfinders congregating together, heading deeper into the vault. You soon find yourself standing on the edge, looking down a tunnel, giant masses of floating rock and debris flying over the edge, each slowly gravitating themselves closer to the ground. Society agents lower knotted ropes down the sloping tunnel that drops into the immense spherical cavern where the fortress presumably awaits. Each of you follow Sorrina's lead, and start grappling down your own ropes waiting for the perfect opportunity.

A rune-scribed floating island begins drifting beneath the tunnel and brushing against the lowered ropes. “These rocky fragments gravitate toward the fortress,” Sorrina shouts as she hangs from a rope. “If we can cling on before it travels out of reach, it should carry it toward our destination.” The iceberg-sized rock spins slightly, revealing a host of undead cultists that cease their chanting, point toward the Pathfinders, and let loose unholy wails. “Now!” cries the Master of Spells, and agents begin rappelling down to the crude platform.

At this point, Sorinna is instructing the pathfinders to jump onto this huge rock and use it to gravitate slowly to the fortress below down the end of the tunnel. We start this encounter with each of you suspended 15ft above the rock. You may climb down to the rock. It is a knotted rope, i.e. DC10, however you may not take 10 as we immediately find ourselves in combat. Assume the rope is touching the rock. To make things more complicated, the rock moves further away from the every round. Also, climbing is normally at 1/4 speed unless you want to increase the DC to 15 to move at half speed. You can always jump!

The scenario specifically calls out not being able to use feather fall because of all the orbiting rocks and their unpredictable movements. Of course you can try anyways, but I'm not responsible for the consequences :)

Used to avoiding ropes and allowing his natural abilities to land him safely on the ground, Robyyn begrudgingly grabs the knotted rope; the evidence of his eyes reveals the folly of trying to float down through a swirling mass of small asteroids.

Action:

Climb DC 10: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

His unfamiliarity with rope-climbing reveals itself almost immediately, however. When they are a mere 15' from the surface of the destination asteroid, Robyyn's grip slips. He intuitively allows the winds that constantly swirl around to catch him, and faces no other choice but to risk the debris-filled descent.

Looks like he's using feather fall regardless....

@ Robyyn: After consulting with other GMs, you can safely use feather fall for this portion. The scenario just doesn't allow it for reaching all the way to the center of the vault. So you're good.

Glad the leadership was better prepared than he was, Menarul gingerly climbs down the ropes, loathe to fall and even potentially risk having all of his glassware break. That wouldn't be bad at best and explosively so at worst. When he but when the rock turns to show undead very close to him he starts to speed up.

However his hands get wrapped up in the rope and in trying to extract them he ends up letting go of the rope completely, falling down to the ground.
