Good cooking Vojtek, Nice work on the camp Davosh, and Kappi. When that is done let me look at your wounds, see if I can speed up some of the natural healing

If you all want to get some rest now, I will keep watch up until 2 hours after dark. So I can wake up early and do my prayers

Davosh Healing: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Vojtek Healing: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Long term Care, vs DC 15 Heal 2hp/lvl after 8 hrs of rest, or 4hp/lvl after a day of rest

Anyone else on watch, or should we just let the dice fall where they may? ;-)

Character Sheet | Tactical Map | XP

The party sets up a watch schedule. 2 hours each, we sleep until everyone has plenty of rest or until we are attacked.

Edward gets a stern but caring look on his face. He says in decisive tone.

No Vojtek. At this time I need to look after the injured here, so at the current time neither you or Davosh will be taking any watches. I need Davosh, and probably yourself to sit and rest for at least 8 hrs right now so your wounds can begin to heal. I will stay up and tend to your wounds. Kappi, and Ali will have to pull most of the watch for the rest of the hours with light. After that time is up, I will need to rest myself, and by that time it will be morning prayers. If you and Davosh want to take watches after you rest first than that is fine but not until then. Now come, sit by the fire and relax, even sleep if you will.

He then leads Davosh, and Vojtek over near the fire so he can look at their wounds. He makes a strong tea and gets them to drink.

Sorry Vojtek I didn't make the roll for you to gain 2hp back, but Davosh did. I will gain my 1 HP back after I sleep since I can't perform long term care on myself.

Character Sheet | Tactical Map | XP

Vojtek gets mad and decides to keep watch anyway. He will not tolerate being treated differently. He stands in the snow in the darkest shadows just outside the light of the fire facing the cold dark night alone.

Ooc- thx joe but I can't let vojtek get soft lol! Maybe someone can releive him after his fair share of watch.

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Done.

The party spends the rest of the day securing their location. The deciduous trees, normally in full green lush, are eerily bare in the uncanny winter.

The party then rests throughout the night.

GM:

Peeking costs you one negative level! :-P

Upon rising the next morning, you discover that the light snow from the previous day became a little heavier overnight; a fresh coat of snow lies over the land about you. Still, finding the trail again is easy enough.

About a half hour along, the trail turns sharply to the right as it follows the contour of the gently rising hills. As you continue along, you espy feathered bundles and strange fetishes hanging from the lowest branches of the trees in this part of the forest, swaying and shifting in the wind. All are stuck through with small pins holding pieces of leather bound around them.

However, closer examination reveals to both that the fetishes are actually the frozen corpses of dead crows, each pierced with several tiny arrows.

    Maaaaaybe... ;-)

Suddenly, tiny arrows begin to rain down upon you from the treetops above!

Had a disagreement over this past weekend about readying actions outside of initiative. Simply put, it's a no-no (it is described under the section "Special Initiative Actions," for cryin' out loud), despite players sometimes feeling like they've been ambushed by boxed text.

So I feel compelled to indicate that what's actually happening here is a surprise round by the enemy, after which we'll make initiative rolls.

^^^This. The idea is to roll all dice at the same time in an effort to save time between posts. And yes, it's a cold-based effect.

Ali and Vojtek both feel a wave of cold emanate from the arrow wound, but shake off the effects of it.

Kappi is not so fortunate; the cold washes over him as though he were encased in ice. He is staggered until the beginning of his next round.

Edward: I will assume all players are healed up from camp using your previous Heal check and whatever spells were left over. If that wasn't enough healing, let me know and we'll straighten the rest out.

Edward fires his crossbow at the tiny creature, but it sails harmlessly over its head.

Kappi sluggishly throws his spear at it, but likewise misses, lodging neatly into the tree on which the creature perches.

I will assume Vojtek delays until Davosh and Liska act, which moves him to 8 minus.

Davosh casts a spell while seeking help from Liska. The white pup scampers before the barbarian and yelps sharply at the winged creature to the right.

Vojtek is up; he may make an additional Perception check with a +2 circumstance modifier. Then the baddies go.

    Round the First

Vojtek looks around at the burgeoning chaos, looking for the source in the trees Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Vojtek spots one of the Brownies through the sparse winter foliage thanks to Liska's scampering. With a roar, he charges!

    Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 1 = 7 <-Bah

The Greatsword hacks through the spindly pine boughs, sending puffs of white snow and sparkling ice crystals into the air. The reverberations of the blade's passage causes more snow to fall further up the tree, dropping unwelcome snow down Vojtek's neck.

The warrior ignores the discomfort, intent on his target. The blade carves into the diminutive creature. Vojtek can sense the wounding he caused was not nearly as serious as it should have been and wonders silently if there was truth in the discussions about cold iron after all.

Vojtek cranes his neck to see the enemy ten feet up and quickly wipes the snow and pine debris from his face with his left hand before regripping his hilt.

This creature is maddening, he toys with the idea of letting his rage slip the bounds of his control.

    Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Yup. Last thing I posted before bed last night, so I figured most of you guys would be up earlier than me today.

Also, unlike Game of Thrones, summer is not coming. :-P

Ali and Davosh take the full force of the color spray, and both are unconscious for 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 rounds. Edward and Kappi both shake the effect off, though they see spots from the blast.

Vojtek feels biting cold, but is not numbed from the arrow wound.

Both are visible to all (well, except Ali and Davosh), as they have made no effort to hide at this point. Yes, Edward's readied action would go off, but only after the sprite's color spray.

Edward launches another crossbow bolt, but cannot hit the little creature.

    Kappi, Vojtek!

    Round 3

Though freaking out slightly as he sees two of his companions fall from the crazy color flashes, he digs deep knowing his new friends could die if he doesnt try to help them. Down to his last two javelins he hefts one in each hand. Giving himself a moment for a quick breath he throws with his right. (at the one he wounded last round)

    Ranged attack 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
    Javelin 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3

what the frack! this die roller blows, that is way too many ones for me in the last 2 rounds

This is a reminder from your friendly neighborhood GM that each player does have one hero point.

Thanks for the reminder I did forget about them. Personally I will be saving that point to stop me from dying outright. Check we me when I get a second one :D that one I might be willing to spend hehehehe

    Round the Third

Vojtek tromps through the snow, leaving a static wake of bloody, stick strewn snow behind him. He closes with the Brownie who had cast its colorful spell on his companions, and lashes out at it with a spell of his own. The somatic component for his spell Greater Murderation is of course making a vigorous hacking motion with a large bladed implement directly at the target.

    Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 1 = 7 for 2d6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 + 2 = 12 damage. <- I doubt a 7 beats his SR

*sigh* someone tell me when round 7 happens...

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Nope, 7 will not beat its armored SR, even with Davosh's evil eye hex.

The sprites laugh with sinister merriment, and overconfidently move to finish the humans. They are used to ranged attacks and unaccustomed to consequences of firing nearby hand-to-hand combat.

The purple sprite fires its bow (provoking from Vojtek) at Edward.
    Vojtek AoO: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 1 = 22
    AoO damage: 2d6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 + 2 = 17
As the purple sprite draws his bow, she looks shocked when Vojtek takes his opening to finish her.

The blue sprite moves as indicated by the arrow in order to get a shot at all three remaining foes with its color spray. This will provoke from Kappi, if he has a melee weapon out, and Vojtek, if he has a way to make another AoO.
    Edward Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
    Kappi Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
    Vojtek Will save: 1d20 ⇒ 18
EDIT: Ouch. :-| I hope Kappi has something out.

He then tries to hide in the tree limbs.
    1d20 + 20 - 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 - 20 = 3

    EDIT #2: Or not. Yowzah.
