Detect Magic on the treasure we found. Is the necklace of fingers just a gruesome trinket, or of any magical value?
We're going to have to figure out what to do with these little 'uns.
She gives out what comfort she's able to do, what with a big ol' gaping wound in her ribs...
GM thunderspirit |
Already cast the spell, didn't get results.
Hey, just cos nothing was reported as magical doesn't mean you didn't use the spell. :-P
I did not say that explicitly, though. So on that, my bad.
GM thunderspirit |
Granny Nan, you discover, is upstairs, and the one who seems to take care of the trolls — cook dinner, look after them, and so forth. She operates under the word of the nastiest ice troll ever who resides south of the jail.
You also learn from the children that there is a ghost and two dragons upstairs. Oh! says one of the youngest, and a beautiful princess who sings. When she's not crying.
Ali has a point — what do you plan to do with the children?
Davosh the Wanderer |
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20 Is there a proper orphanage or temple we can deliver them too?
Vojtek Wartooth |
Is there a girl with wide hips of a reasonable age? Vojtek could use some help along the trail. Or a sturdy lad to carry stuff and learn the ways of his people, now that they are wiped out, Vojtek thinks he might be responsible for the survival of his clan. In addition to killing the White.
GM thunderspirit |
Is there a proper orphanage or temple we can deliver them too?
Temples are technically illegal in Whitethrone, but you might remember a place.
Davosh the Wanderer |
"Maybe Solveig can take care of them. Let's get them to the Heralds of Summer's Return."
Vojtek Wartooth |
Vojtek Wartooth wrote:Is there a girl with wide hips of a reasonable age? Vojtek could use some help along the trail.Im sure in Vojtek's village 12 is a reasonable age. But lets not go there.
Oops I guess I missed their ages... I was thinking maybe one was older. 18 is Vojtek's limit.
GM thunderspirit |
It only takes a short while to guide them as stealthily as possible back to the Heralds, and even though Solveig asks what she is to do with a mass of children, once the circumstances are explained she is in agreement that leaving them there wasn't the right thing to do.
Back in the tower...where to?
GM thunderspirit |
Vojtek Wartooth wrote:Is there a girl with wide hips of a reasonable age? Vojtek could use some help along the trail.Im sure in Vojtek's village 12 is a reasonable age. But lets not go there.
Also, thanks for this. LOL
Davosh the Wanderer |
Despite Davosh's oddities, he recognizes the importance of children. After all, without children, ancestors are worthless. Still, he finds them offputting and creepy.
"Thank you Solveig. Our forefathers thank you."
Back in the tower. "I'm ready for more, but those are some big doors. Kappi, are they both safe?" If yes, take the left. If not, take the trapped.
Davosh the Wanderer |
Davosh, ever careful of Kappi's fingers and nose, casts Guidance on the lad before he checks for traps.
GM thunderspirit |
Declaring neither trapped, Kappi opens the left door.
This sparsely furnished room contains little more than a bed and a footlocker. The bed, such as it is, is sized for a giant — the sheets are soiled and a flattened, lice-ridden pillow is heaped atop a lumpy straw-filled sack. The footlocker is unlocked and contains an assortment of broke children's toys. Beneath all of these is a mummified hand on a tarnished golden chain and a pouch covered with roaches containing 75 gp.
Davosh the Wanderer |
Davosh will scan the room for magic before letting Kappi collect the booty.
GM thunderspirit |
The hand on the chain glows under detect magic.
Davosh the Wanderer |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
"Well, it's not the Hand of Vecna, but it IS a useful item indeed." Davosh wears the hand. If its macabre nature bothers him, he doesn't show it. He then promptly starts floating random objects about the room.
Kappi Matarito |
Kappi lets Davosh handle the odd mummified hand. Some of the rogue's Varisian roots show as he feels it is a cursed item and he refuses to touch it.
Kappi stands at the door and if he deems it safe he gets ready to open it. The rogue pulls his sword and gives a quick glance at Vojtek to make sure he is ready for any threat. The wiry barbarian stands with his great sword in hand. His nasty looking snaggle tooth bared from his lip as if it is ready for blood as well.
The rogue opens the door...
GM thunderspirit |
Kappi opens the door.
A giant-sized bed sits in the southwest corner of this spacious room, and a large polar bear rug sprawls across the floor. Several small tables occupy the corners of the room, along with a chest in the southeast. Behind it on the wall hangs a large mirror.
Davosh the Wanderer |
"Gah!" Davosh smashes the mirror.

GM thunderspirit |
Because I'm an idiot: the second spoiler is DC 34, not 29. >.<
As Davosh enters the room, intent on destroying the mirror, he does not notice when...
To be continued when I get back Sunday or Monday!

Vojtek
Davosh
Edward
Ali and Kappi are up!
Davosh the Wanderer |
Indeed, it doesn't look like he ever got healed after the last fight, so he's bleeding out.
Kappi Matarito |
patiently waiting for Mike to post... this is just flavor
Kappi gasps and is spurred into motion at the Ice Troll materializing out of thin air and giving the Speaker a great walloping hit with an ax. Sweet Desna! Davosh is hurt bad!

POINT OF ORDER:
The Surprise Round
If some but not all of the combatants are aware of their opponents, a surprise round happens before regular rounds begin. In initiative order (highest to lowest), combatants who started the battle aware of their opponents each take a standard or move action during the surprise round. You can also take free actions during the surprise round. If no one or everyone is surprised, no surprise round occurs.
This matters, because Ali would try to disarm the troll if the potion were still in her hand
ANOTHER POINT OF ORDER
Is there really *any* way that Davosh, our squishiest, would be in that room all by himself???
In any case, Ali will mvoe (move action) into the room next to the troll. My attack (standard action) will depend on the DM's ruling on the surprise round thing!
Davosh the Wanderer |
Davosh did enter foolishly. (I, the player, knew full well what I was doing). I defer to the GM on the Edward healing me thing, and the surprise round ruling.
GM thunderspirit |
I'm okay with Davosh being healed, so it would take the full attack to drop him to negatives. But the full attack stands as is; being attacked from invisible sucks. So Davosh should be at -1, and Ali can try the disarm if desired.
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |
Hearing the grunt of the first hit, and the sigh of the second as Davosh falls, Ali rushes in. She leaves a bit of room for Vojtek, and she aims her blow at the potion the troll is holding...
Disarm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
GM thunderspirit |
Does Ali have Improved Disarm? I don't see it on her profile. If not, a disarm attempt will provoke from the ice troll.
Kappi Matarito |
Round 1
Kappi moves in to attack. He balestras over Davosh's downed figure and slices at the ice troll.
Attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Sh sword 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
The rogue obiviously got too fancy trying to imitate Taldoran Duelists he had seen once.
Kappi's fumbling attack causes him to curse and remember to keep it simple.
GM thunderspirit |
Ali's disarm attempt provokes from the ice troll!
battleaxe AoO: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
dmg: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (1, 4) + 9 = 14
Her battleaxe bites into Ali's flesh, but the elf's blade cannot quite get the potion bottle out of the troll's hand (CMD 25)!
With a wicked grin, she downs the potion (drinking is what provokes from both Ali and Kappi, so can't target the potion bottle)! Her form appears to move and shift as she appears blurry (20% miss chance from blur)!
You guys are up!
Davosh the Wanderer |
CON: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 1 = 2
Davosh gurgles and dies a little.
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |
Our AoO's are NOT affected by the Blur, since the act of drinking is what provokes.
AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
GM thunderspirit |
Our AoO's are NOT affected by the Blur, since the act of drinking is what provokes.
This is correct.
RE: point of order — at my table, the answer would be no (any more than you could sunder it, or that they could do that to you). Other GMs might rule differently, so the PFS bylaw would be to expect table variation.
Both Ali and Kappi (who hits critically!) hit with their AoOs, doing significant damage — damage that starts to heal almost at once!
Davosh bleeds some more!
Votjek and Edward (the latter waiting for the former)!
Edward W.Fell |
Round 1
Posting 2 actions since Vojtek goes first. My concern is if Granny Nan has Combat Reflexes, my test is if Vojek gets AoO for moving through threatened.
Selective Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 6
My Life link is either on Kappi or Vojtek Kappi Odd: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Everyone heal 6, Vojtek up to 11
CLW Wand to Davosh: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
My Life link is either on Kappi or Vojtek (see above spoiler for which one). Davosh heal 8, Vojtek up to 5.
RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |
Vojtek stomps his way after Davosh, slightly exasperated by the man's poor grasp of tactics. Vojtek tempered his frustration with the assumption that the Ancestors probably had a hand in his decision.
With the appearance of a troll, Vojtek came to the realization that Davosh's ancestors may have been rather inept at tactics too. Why should being dead confer any great knowledge upon an Ancestor anyway? Vojtek quickly made a warding gesture against offending any Ancestors who might be eavesdropping on his internal dialogue. With a shudder, the barbarian's rage sparked hot and he swung into a fearsome attack!
Move and Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 11 - 2 = 22 for 2d6 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 11 + 6 = 25 damage
Vs. Blur: 1d100 ⇒ 59
GM thunderspirit |
She would most definitely take an AoO versus Vojtek — if she hadn't used it already on Ali's disarm attempt. :-o
Vojtek's blade digs into the troll-flesh with force!
Edward moves in and life-links the barbarian, while healing the warlock!
The ice troll heals some, drops the empty potion bottle, then lashes out at the Northman!
battleaxe attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
dmg: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 1) + 9 = 14
claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
claw dmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

bite dmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
You guys are up!
Kappi Matarito |
Round 2
Also annoyed at the lack of flanking, Kappi fights at Ali's side.
attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
sh sword 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
offhand attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
dagger 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Edward W.Fell |
Round 2]
Edward holds his hand down and says [b]Grab ahold. Davosh reaches up grasps Edwards hand and is drug 5' away.
Not sure if you need a die roll but here Drag: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 Can a brother get 10 feet of drag for a crit? Lolz
Vojtek heals another 5 points and edward takes 5 pts of damage
GM thunderspirit |
Haha, sure, Edward. 10' drag it is. :-)
Also, I'll rule Davosh's action is to play possum to avoid a potentially lethal AoO.
Also also, Ali's attack gets a 20% miss chance.
Also also also, Vojtek is up!
RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |
Vojteks aytack is viscious and as his sword bites, so too does his face! With a primal roar, Vojtex leans in to tear a chunk from the creature's flesh!
Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 11 - 2 = 21 for 2d6 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 11 + 6 = 25 damage with Wartooth gnash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 damage.
RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |
Vojteks atack is vicious and as his sword bites, so too does his face! With a primal roar, Vojtex leans in to tear a chunk from the creature's flesh!
Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 11 - 2 = 13 for 2d6 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 11 + 6 = 28 damage with Wartooth gnash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 for 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 damage.
Kappi Matarito |
sorry DM, we all forgot our blurr/miss chances. Allow me to roll them for all of us.
Ali miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 73
Kappi's sh sword obviously misses but here is for his measely 2 points of damage from his left hand knife. 1d100 ⇒ 94
Vojtek miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 30
We all hit. Victory is ours!!!
