Kappi: +1 from the guidance Davosh cast. Now if you could only get, say, an aid another roll from someone who moved up to you and your grappler but hasn't yet taken a Standard action...
Davosh the Wanderer |
I totally heard Ali say that that was her plan... I just don't have quick access to her numbers

Edward: I was, in fact! :-)
With a little help from his friends, Kappi wriggles free of the plant creature's grip!
Ali (by proxy), Davosh, Vojtek!
Edward W.Fell |
Ali's Post nausea round actions
Sorry posting from my iPad and can't move the map. I hope this is what she would do.
Ali moves with flowing grace bouncing over the bench, to move opposite the recently freed Kappi. She takes a cut with her elven blade hoping to rend the plant as she would regular flesh.
Elven Blade: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Davosh the Wanderer |
Cocentration: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
The warlock expects Kappi is going to want revenge. He casts another Guidance on the youth and the backs away 5'
GM thunderspirit |
Ali moves up and lands a solid blow!
Davosh gives more guidance to the rogue!
mandragora 16
Vojtek!
Vojtek Wartooth |
Vojtek attempts to estimate the time of day and comes to the conclusion that it isn't uet midnight, so he shrugs and moves closer to the strange creature calmly.
Is it 3 rounds yet? Vojtek gets right next to the creature and prepares for the moment his stomach stops churning like he just ate an over generous helping of grandmother's hakkarl so he can attack.
GM thunderspirit |
The 3 rounds are over. Attack away
Kappi Matarito |
Kappi finally free of the plant creature's grasp, gives a smile for Edward's helping hand. With Davosh's blessing from the Ancestors, the rogue is ready to finally get some revenge.
Flanking w/ Ali, Kappi darts in looking a little awkward compared w/ the elven woman's beautiful flowing sword style, yet his thrust is deceptively quick.
Flanking attack 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 17
sh sword 1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + (2, 2) = 12
Vojtek Wartooth |
Round the Fourth
The master demonstrates the use of Massive Greatsword.
With a lurching hack, Vojtek's final retching convulsion results in an overhead swing at the plant-like critter.
Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 1 + 2 = 22 for 2d6 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2) + 8 + 2 = 17 damage.
GM thunderspirit |
Vojtek's blade bites deeply into the creature...but not quite deeply enough to keep it from retaliating on the barbarian!
slam 1 atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
slam 1 dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 plus Fort save vs. poison if hit
slam 2 atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
slam 2 dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 plus Fort save vs. poison if hit
bite atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
bite dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 plus free grab attempt if hit
GRAB vs. CMD 20: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
While the plant beast is preoccupied with the barbarian, Kappi slips in and stabs through its tough hide, twisting the blade just right and dropping the foul thing!
Out of combat!
Davosh the Wanderer |
"Was that noise so bad that you all needed to shout forth the day's groceries? Either way, well done all. This plant thing only confirms by belief that we need to increase our versatility. I think I need to start writing scrolls, perhaps brewing potions..."
I'll search the area with Kappi. Unless there's a reason against, we'll take 20.
GM thunderspirit |
Davosh and Kappi find many more plants all about the conservatory, none of which attack the party.
Kappi Matarito |
Kappi helps Davosh search the room. ugh... What sort of creature was that? The rogue takes another swig from a wineskin to help wash the nasty taste from his mouth. That was awful, that sound set off a vibration in my belly. I just couldn't take it
Vojtek Wartooth |
Vojtek explains patiently to the young man that occasionally plants will come to life an makeup vomit. Although the barbarian had never had that happen before eating them before, his experiences with magic of late informs him of a multitude of insane possibilities.
Edward W.Fell |
Edward checks to make sure everyone is in good health {Kappi I healed you earlier you should be full}
With a slight pull on his water skin making extra sure there isn't any kind of backwash, Edward swishes the water around in his mouth getting the vomit smell and taste out of it. He then deposits the spit in the spitoon in the corner.
This keeps getting more interesting moving and screaming plants. I'm never going to look at my veggie's the same.
CLW Wand Self: 1d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 2 = 9
Current HP 30/31.. Everyone should be full
GM thunderspirit |
Kappi opens the door to reveal a hallway, off of which is a recessed alcove with tiles of ice covering the floor, all beneath a large window overlooking the tower’s northern exposure. On the flo9or, another section of dark blue tiles similar to how the party accessed this level of the tower can be seen. Doors are visible to the east and south.
Kappi Matarito |
The rogue gives the room a cursory search.
perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
But is careful not to activate the section of dark blue tiles that is some kind of teleport device.
The young Varisian looks over to Ali and Davosh. Hey is that spirit still w/ us? Does he have anything to say about these blue tiles? Or about the plant thingee we killed in the last room? Or about anything else we should be informed of...?
Kappi is clearly interested in moving through the door to the east. Though he checks w/ the party to make sure everyone is in agreement w/ that direction.
GM thunderspirit |
Kappi checks the door and finds it unlocked. Inside is a bed, desk, dresser, and a storage chest furnishing the small bedroom. A large mirror hangs on the wall opposite the room's only door, and two windows look down over the tower's courtyard.
GM thunderspirit |
The mirrors do indeed detect as magic of the Divination school, similar to those seen elsewhere in the Tower.
Kappi Matarito |
Kappi checks the door and finds it unlocked. Inside is a bed, desk, dresser, and a storage chest furnishing the small bedroom. A large mirror hangs on the wall opposite the room's only door, and two windows look down over the tower's courtyard.
With the blessing of the ancestors Kappi rips into the room searching for goodies. He feels there is going to be something really good in here. Chest, bed, everywhere...
Perception/search 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 1 = 28
GM thunderspirit |
Kappi turns up several articles of clothing sure to make the youth blush, but finds nothing of value. He also finds that the storage chest is locked tight.
Kappi Matarito |
The red faced young lad isn't able to actually speak but after a long awkward pause he hands the unmentionables to Ali.
Then he puts his game face on and turns to the locked chest. He goes through the routine of checking over it, picking the appropriate tool and gets to work.
Disable Device (open lock) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

The red faced young lad isn't able to actually speak but after a long awkward pause he hands the unmentionables to Ali.
Ali wordlessly takes the proffered "clothing" and tucks it into her backpack.
picking the appropriate tool and gets to work.
You sure know how to fiddle with a chest, Kappi.
GM thunderspirit |
Kappi breaks a lockpick off in the storage chest, but the lock itself stubbornly refuses to open.
GM thunderspirit |
Vojtek's Strength check barely chips the wood on the trunk, eliciting a look of surprise from Kappi and a barely-supressed giggle from Ali.
A couple more whacks breaks the lock open, though, and inside is revealed a pari of silver bracers with figures of dragons; a jeweled scepter; a uniquely-shaped agate; and a trio of blue quartz crystals. None of these detect as magical, nor do the passel of coins inside. Total value of 1087.24 gp including all coins and jewelry.
Four potion bottles, three of which are still intact after Vojtek's "ministrations" are also inside; two potions of feather fall and an elixir of truth. The broken vial also appears to have contained a feather fall potion. Ali's Take 10 on Spellcraft is enough to identify everything.
Vojtek Wartooth |
Vojtek holds the bracers up to the light and cocks his head as he examines them with a critical eye. He compares the draconic decorations to his memory of The White... (and he concludes?)
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |
The rest of the Mirror portals needed a key of some sort. Might we find or do we have one of those?
Hatch? what do you think--will the keys we already have work?
GM thunderspirit |
My apologies, guys; been a bit under the weather past couple of days.
Like the ice sculpture in the courtyard below, the dragons on the bracers resemble The White, but the ones on the bracers are stylized and not literal representations, only artistic ones.
Also, looking back over Capt. Hestrig's stuff, turns out she has a teleporter key, so you have one for...one of them. Which one, though? Mwahaha!
GM thunderspirit |
Hatch reappears and looks at the key, confused. Hatch not know, Nadya Petska friends. Hatch not ever use this crystal. Hatch use special words for other crystal, but that go to Nazhena. The domovoi looks horrified at the thought of her. Hatch not go there again.
GM thunderspirit |
So what's the plan?
Kappi Matarito |
Kappi is all for trying to jump through a mirror. Though he understands that he has no clue how it works and will defer to those in the party with keen intellects and arcane knowledge.
So whatever Vojtek decides is fine...
Davosh the Wanderer |
Davosh walks over to Kappi and flicks him on the ear.
The warlock then looks him in the eye, "Lad, if we step through that thing, we step into the unknown. We should be well prepared. It could be boring, in which case we wasted some supplies. It could also be a death trap of magically augmented fey casting spells that will tear your intestines out of your ears while their razor-toothed mounts dine on your testes. Then you'll be happy you were ready."
Davosh then smiles and casts Guidance on everyone.
Ready to go...
