GM Thrawn |

Ellismus the Blue |
"Now let's turn up the heat a little," says Ellismus, before he lobs a bomb coated with thick black layer of coal at the Storm Sorcerer.
Alchemist Bomb; Explosive Bomb + Precise Bomb to exclude squares occupied by the friendly elf and halflings not shown on map; ranged touch *DEX mutagen and reduce person and Fox's Cunning and Cat's Grace and Heroism*: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28 Touch AC for dmg: 4d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 3, 2, 1) + 8 = 19 fire damage to Storm Sorcerer + catches fire for 1d6 ⇒ 3 fire damage per round (full-round action and REF DC 18 to extinguish fire)

Jaan_ |
Jaan steps back, having recovered from his fatigue once again rages and tries to finish off the halfling in red.

confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 41
reflex L: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
reflex MH: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
One Halfling falls to Jaan's blade, and the other is hit with an arrow between fits of vomiting, then gets hit with fire. The Storm sorcerer seems to be close to recovering from sickness, only to be struck by a bomb and set on fire as he draws a potion. Laurlathsa, taking splash damage reacts by drinking a potion and disappearing. (She seems to have turned invisible.)
Conditions: Kuwabara Kasei is confused (Attack nearest this round!)

Jaan
STORM SORCERER (31 dmg, ,burning)
LAURLATHSA (27 dmg, invisible, nauseated 1 rnd)
Ellismus
Edited, wrote down 1/2/5 instead of 3/2/5 on duration. She was just going to run away anyway. Doesn't make much difference on her plan really.
Ellismus the Blue |
Unless something special is happening all those who failed vs. nauseated should be puking for at least 2 rounds even if you don't use the convenient prerolled durations I provided ;)
Kuwabara Kasei |
Looks like there's two folks equidistant from me, so 1 is Jaan, 2 is Phosdlon. 1d2 ⇒ 2
Kasei stumbles about in confusion, mumbling in his native tongue. He sees Phosdlon before him but shows no recognition in his dark brown eyes, looking as if he thinks the elf is an enemy, and strikes out with his sword. Then he closes his eyes and starts intoning random syllables, a mish-mash of sounds that carries no meaning.
katana attack with bull's strength: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 2 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Ellismus the Blue |
"Well then, for you cowering on the back wall... this may singe a little... but we can't have her use you as a shield! healing will be provided don't worry!" says Ellismus, before he lobs a bomb coated with thick black layer of coal at the Storm Sorcerer... again!
Alchemist Bomb; Explosive Bomb; Precise Bombs (PCs only) ranged touch vs. AC 5 empty square *DEX mutagen and reduce person and Fox's Cunning and Cat's Grace and Heroism*: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35 Touch AC (SPLASH ONLY)
--> SPLASH 10 ft. radius: 12 fire damage REF DC 18 for half.
Turning off Precise Bombs on the cowering NPCs to smoke her out in case she's hiding with friendlies; however Precise Bombs is still on for El, Kuwa and Phos.
Jaan_ |
Jaan moves to the stairwell and attempts to trip Kuwabara.
CMD to Trip: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34
Jaan shouts "I'll keep Kasei busy."
AoO to Disarm+Prone: 1d20 + 17 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 17 + 4 = 31
GM Thrawn |
You hear screams as the bomb explodes into the halflings and elves. The sorcerer hit with the bomb drops dead, while the others are all burned a bit. You are pretty sure that the invisible elf is indeed trying to hide with the friendlies.
Meanwhile Jaan trips his companion. Who babbles on the ground incoherently.
1d100 ⇒ 45 He continues babbling, and the elf leader is still busy vomiting until the end of this round, so you will all be up again as well. Phosdlon has 2 actions before anything threatening can happen.
phosdlon |
Phosdlon looks around the room intently, looking the source of the vomiting or any other sign of the elf leader.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Phosdlon switches his longbow for his elven curved blade and starts moving slowly forward swinging blindly in an arc to try and find the invisible elf. He is swinging at mid-thigh level.
Not sure what to roll here, please advise.
trying to make 5' steps forward as I swing, but can't move on board
Jaan_ |
I think Kasei has to attack me instead of rolling confusion, since I attacked him last round.
Kuwabara Kasei |
I think so, but I also think Kasei would stand up to attack, and Jaan would get that attack of opportunity, used to disarm, which would knock the sword from Kasei's hand.
The befuddled samurai stands up, whereupon Jaan knocks the katana out of his hand. Angrily, he shouts something incomprehensible in Minkaian and punches at Jaan with his spiked gauntlet.
1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 2 = 12
phosdlon |
"A-ha! I think I have you now!
melee attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
miss chance (aiming high): 1d100 ⇒ 26
damage(if successful): 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Bleh!
Ellismus the Blue |
"Freeze!"
Alchemist Bomb; Frost + Precise Bomb to exclude squares occupied by allies and friendly NPCs; ranged touch *DEX mutagen and reduce person and Fox's Cunning and Cat's Grace and Heroism*: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19 for dmg: 4d6 + 8 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 2) + 8 = 18 cold damage to Laurlathsa + DC 18 save to avoid being staggered for 1 round.
-->50% miss chance (low is bad; high is good): 1d100 ⇒ 66
Jaan_ |
Jaan lets Kasei's spiked Gauntlet deflect harmlessly off his heavy armor.
GM Thrawn |
She goes down to the cold bomb as she tries to cast a dimension door spell to escape.
You find that the final chamber contains the remains of the crusader in full ceremonial armor, with a broken katana (radiating magic at her side.) The chamber seems to have been heavily warded against teleportation effects, and the guardian was there to keep many intruders at bay.
Upon questioning the survivors, you find out that the elven enchantress had been building herself a brigand empire, praying on caravans and such, and this was hired help brought in as treasure hunters. She had acquired the key and the map and notes to the crypt after raiding a caravan, and she didn't want to cut her "guild" in, so she hired cheaper help for the job.
You can decide what is being done with them. And what is being done with the body. Katsei knows the proper rituals (based on a knowledge check back at the beginning of this. You may also turn things over to the Knights. Either solution is acceptable, and the fact you have the answer has already been factored into prestige. Game has been reported, and chronicles are coming.
Jaan_ |
Jaan helps Kasei to his feet and hands him his weapon after tussling for a bit more before the confusion wears off.
"Everything alright there?" Jaan asks, extending a hand in friendship to Kasei.
Jaan follows up with "Lets get that ritual done and give her her proper rest."
Kuwabara Kasei |
Kasei takes the hand and rubs his head in embarassment. "Felt like when I had a bad fever as a child and became convinced my head was turning into a waffle iron."
Kasei looks at the remains of the ancient samurai and bows to her. "We will follow the rites of Shizuru. Her soul is most likely at rest already, but if not, this will assure it is." He examines the armor and sword, curious as to what she was buried with.

Ellismus recommends leniency towards the brigands hired as cannon fodder and if no one can channel energy to heal them, he will spend some charges from his wand of cure light wounds.
Ellismus recommends the remains be relocated to Lastwall and handed to the Knights of Ozem before the ritual is performed, so that the evil of this place never corrupt her body.
Kuwabara Kasei |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"The knights of Ozem are valiant and true -- but they are not Shizuran. This warrior will perform the ritual. It can be done at Lastwall, though, which is appropriate as she died in defense of that land."
GM Thrawn |
No charges needed. The bodies of those slain provide some healing potions for both the fodder, and yourselves.
You make the journey to lastwall, where the knights are surprised at the recovery of the remains. They allow Kasei to perform the ritual in traditional Shizuran fashion. First time I've ever had someone who properly should be able to do that! The knights attend and are reverent, and make sure she will be honored. They thank you for not letting her remains fall to brigands.
The venture captain is very happy when you return and tell him the story of the adventure. He seems doubly excited to see what else he can glean from the book, hoping to send another group of pathfinders on an epic adventure...
