Juma Salvadore |
Whoops, I missed the GM's last post, thought I was waiting on him. My bad.
Juma keeps up the assault on the stronger kobold.
Attack!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Attack!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Kaelic lashes out and takes down the average kobold!
Dagon misses, but Juma strikes, taking down the not so average kobold!
Out of Combat!
Searching the bodies, the two normal kobolds carry only small sized leather armor, spears, and slings.
The other kobold carried potions of cure moderate wounds (3), small sized mwk studded leather, mwk shortbow with 20 arrows, and spear, as well as having 5 gems worth 25 gp each, and 10 pp.
Congrats! Level up to 2!
Kaelic |
"Well fellows, looks like you both got some good hits in before I finished the job. Feel like kicking back and taking your boots off for a bit?" Kaelic asks, then looking at Dagon. "I mean, uh..."
Juma Salvadore |
Juma begins counting on his fingers as he enumerates the group's findings:
"Let's see, we found Hunclay's body, a weird little critter that likes birds and chairs, a haunted prison, not-built-to-code hallways, kobolds, money, a clockwork guardian, impractical doorlocks, and lots of cardiovascular exercise."
Kaelic |
"Oh no, the collapse was the work of kobolds. We found them in there with shovels and such. Looks like Hunclay was probably in on it, and just fell victim to the collapse like so many of the kobold did as well."
GM Tektite |
The Baroness looks thoughtful as she withdraws a pouch from her desk drawer and tosses it in your direction, landing it on the edge of the desk. "You have done well, here is your five hundred gold, as promised. " She pauses, collecting her thoughts. "How would you like the opportunity to earn some more coin?" She levels her gaze at you, gauging your reaction.
"I've long been suspicious of a local kobold tribe living near the flooded quarry to the east, but the kobolds have never caused any problems, so the townsfolk left them alone. Those times have changed." She says, pounding her fist on the desk. "I'd like to hire you to drive out the kobold tribe from the lair in the old quarry and out of the area."
Devy takes out another pouch and dumps the contents on the desk; a dozen amythests worth 100 gp each. "Do this task for me, and these are yours...."
Kaelic |
"We are quite a team. But I wonder, would you consider an advance on that sum in the form of a healing wand? It could really improve our odds in the dangerous wild. I don't mind if it's lightly used."
Not sure our previous negotiations got us anywhere, but maybe this will.

The Baroness' eyes widen a little at Kaelic's query. "I...I suppose we could see about that. I'll send a page over to the temple of Abadar to inquire.
Meanwhile, Devy's son and Baron-to-be, Arnhold enters the office. Seeing the bronze plaque, he stops and studies it. "Look here mother! It is the old Canteclure family crest! Did you find that in the tower?" He asks. "I'll give you a hundred gold for it. It is a part of our family history after all." He says.
GM Tektite |
Arnhold counts out ten platinum pieces and hands them over to Dagon, then calls in a servant to carry off the heavy plaque.
After a time, the page returns and reports to the Baroness. "High Priestess Eupaphenia Targas offers a minor healing wands that she estimates to be just over half spent. She says it can be purchased for three hundred gold pieces." Wand of CLW (20 chrgs)
The Baroness nods. "If that will suffice, I will deduct it from what I owe you, once you have driven off the kobolds."
Kaelic |
"That will do nicely. My thanks, baroness." Kaelic responds with a bow.
"I think we will need a couple of days to prepare. I haven't quite recovered from the monsters of the tower's dungeon, and I could use the time to rest and scour the markets for supplies."

Sorry, had to rush out of town for a family medical emergency. Back now and everything is fine.
Resting for the night, the party heads out to the old abandoned, Old Abandoned Quarry. A fifty-foot-wide strip of shore stretches between the lake’s edge and the forty-foot-high quarry wall. It’s strewn with stony debris—the result of centuries of rockslides. Several larger boulders stand against the middle of the quarry wall.
Kaelic |
Welcome back. Hope everything is alright.
"Oh, lunch. Good thinking." Kaelic chimes back, puffing on his cigar and adjusting his monocle as he strolls forward, tapping his cane.
His eyes drift upward towards his hairline. "I need a hat..." he notes absent-mindedly.

The kobolds only sneer and curse in Draconic in response to Dagon.
I believe, technically, Diplomacy takes at least a minute of talking to get anywhere, and we are already in initiative, so Dagon would need to use up ten rounds. The weren't going to be friendly anyway, so go ahead and take an action Dagon.
Juma Salvadore |
Coming out of delay...

Heading into the near tunnel, Kaelic finds no traps. The tunnels, dark and with low ceilings wind through the bedrock. Passing about sixty feet into the tunnel, the party come to a "Y", with tunnels splitting off to the southeast, and northeast.
Unless otherwise noted, the cieling are five feet high, causing Medium creatures to take a -2 to attack rolls.
