Dagon prostrates himself...and nothing happens. Juma and Kaelic eventually note that the mosaic is trapped. It appears that Dagon has stopped it from going off by giving the dragon her due.
Nothing else of interest catches you eye. There is the spiral staircase, in the southern alcove, leading down.
Kaelic |
Kaelic casts a spell to recharge himself before heading to the stairs.
I'm assuming that means there's nothing in those northern rooms and the sarcophagi are unimportant.
Juma Salvadore |
"Hm, if the floor was trapped, might wanna check the stairs too."

Finding no traps, the party continues downward into an oval chamber. Near the east wall of this oval chamber is an altar, the front side of which is carved to resemble a winged eye. A chalice and a small leather-bound book sit atop the altar. A set of double doors rests in the north wall.

"Shazam, talk about old-school: that's a shrine to Aroden! Antiques like this would make a nice contribution to our, eh, 'war fund,' to the tune of about 1,875."
GM Tektite |
Kaelic examines the relics, but finds no magic auras.
Searching the double doors, you find no traps. Entering, you see the floor of this great, domed chamber has a coppery metallic sheen, save for three mosaics of blue dragons made of polished blue glass. Chiseled into the north wall is an inscription, and the air smells slightly of ozone.
Kaelic |
"Dagon, read the thing while I check out these awesome dragons."

Kaelic discovers no traps, but the snell of ozone and the copper sheathed floor, coupled with the mosaics of blue dragons, gives him pause, as he directs Dagon across the room.
Dagon reads the inscription, which says; lain by Lady Tula of Belhaim and the Slayers of Nazilli, Battle of Blue Note Hill, 3668 AR."
Everyone notes a door in the western wall.
Kaelic |
"I have a bad feeling about this."
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
"What do you think Dagon? Lightning?"
Kaelic |
"Alright, I vote we stick Juma with some magic warding and then send him off into danger. It's my favorite strategy." Kaelic pauses to think for a moment. "Well, plus warding."
Juma Salvadore |
"Addendum to the 'run really fast' plan: try to be airborn for as much of the distance as possible."
Juma turns to Kaelic and adds, "For you, this may mean being thrown."
Kaelic |
Kaelic opens his mouth to object, then thinks about it a little and shuts his mouth again. "Yeah, okay."
So we don't all want resist energy 10?
Kaelic |
Would it kill you to click over to my sheet? I have 4/4 lvl 2 spells left, and there's 3 of us. So that would leave me with 1.
But, on the other hand, I could just as well use those slots for CMW, healing an average of 12 HP damage per. So whether it's worth it really depends on whether we're in for a single shock or a few.
Kaelic |
"Oh, look who thinks he knows magic." Kaelic cocks his head to think.
"Abjuration? Is that... yeah, I mean, that sounds right actually..."
Casting resist energy(electricity) on each of us.
GM Tektite |
Kaelic casts his protective, abjuring spells just in time (none for Maffei, I assume? or perhaps you forgot about her.), as the room begins to crack and spark, everyone's hair standing on end as bolt of electricity discharge in the room!

Maffei Ref: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Maffei manages to tumble and is only glanced by the bolt, as the party hustles over to the door and into a round chamber.
In the next chamber, you see painted statues of four human archers, bows drawn, occupy the western curve of this circular chamber. The two archers to the north aim toward the northeast, and the two archers to the south aim southeast. An inscription decorates each statue’s base.
The inscription reads: “May your arrows strike center and true.”

"Huh... That inscription reads suspiciouly like an instruction to bypass a trap. Can we move these statues? I think we should try rotating them to all aim at the center of the room."
Kaelic |
I totally forgot about her. Good thing she's dodgy.
Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Kaelic dodges out of the way and manages to miss the worst of the bolt, with the lesser part being entirely absorbed by his magic ward. "Yeah, magic!" he declares.
"Oh, sorry Maffei. I uh..." Kaelic draws his wand and offers healing to the Shae if she'll take it.

"I'm fines, just a little shaky after the electricity." Maffei answers Juma, then nods in thanks to Kaelic for the healing.
Dagon tries to rotate the statues and finds that they do indeed move. After a little trial and error, all four statues are turned so that their bow point toward the middle of the floor. There is a click, then a loud grating sound, as a section of the floor in the center of the room begins to slide down in wedges, creating a spiral stairway that descends into darkness.
Juma Salvadore |
"You know what's neat about my new staff?" Juma asks. "I don't need a gnome to light it up for me anymore."
Juma holds his flaming staff aloft for light, and heads down the stairs.
Kaelic |
Kaelic frowns at Juma, then follows him down the stairs, careful not to accidentally trip him. Very careful.
"Hey nice work Dagon. Good thinking."
GM Tektite |
The stone spiral stairs open onto a circular alcove looking out into a great domed chamber. Seven statues stand to the north, and seven more to the south—burly figures wielding large hammers. A single stone sarcophagus sits in the center of this room, at the bottom of a series of four tiers descending in five-foot increments. The stairs also continue downward to another level.
Kaelic |
"Oh, Dagon, now point these guys at each other and make a treasure chest appear!"
Kaelic looks for traps around the statues and sarcophagus.
