If Lilika fails a check enough to fall she's using her grasp spell as an immediate action. If her new climb check passes she doesn't fall. If it fails she can try again, but the penalty is cumulative, granting her an extra -2 every reroll. For reference, grasp is available here.

Grasp: Climb Reroll to not fall: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 - 2 = 18

Oh! I only rolled two, since I was waiting to see if she had to use grasp or not. I figured on one of those I'd have too, but I don't know the DC, so I didn't want to presume.

If her previous post's first climb check would have been a fail enough to make her fall, then yes, the next one would have been her activating grasp and rolling at a -2 penalty, which would have made it a seven instead of the nine it came out as. Since that's still a fail she would have used another free action to reroll the climb check again, though now it has a -4 instead of a -2 penalty, which would make the roll I just did above 16. If 16 is a enough to pass the DC she doesn't fall, if it's not enough she needs to reroll again, but there's a -6 penalty on the roll. ...And it gets worse from there until I can't physically pass the check. Let me know if I need to reroll again, or if she managed to cling on.

He unslings his pack and gets out his rope.

After Yirrik and Perfire agree to hang on to one end of the rope, Wymond tosses the rest into the pit and prepares to slide down it.

I was unfamiliar with the Grasp spell. Now I've read it. Neat spell. However, did Lilika have more than one memorized? Because she did fail with the first one.

We'll resolve Wymond's climb after determining what's up with Lilika.

Since it's a cantrip she should be able to just spam it, yeah?

Druids can prepare a number of orisons, or 0-level spells, each day, as noted on Table: Druid under “Spells per Day.” These spells are cast like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again.

Perfire has the right of it. All 0-level spells work this way in Pathfinder. This makes Create Water an effective fire-fighting tool, by the way! ;)

Yes, it's an orison which doesn't get used up after being cast, as Perfire linked to. As Wymond mentioned, it works like that for all 0 level spells in pathfinder. It's written into the classes either as the Orisons ability (for divine spellcasters), cantrips (for arcane spellcasters) or knacks (for psychic spellcasters).

She can keep doing it as long as she keeps failing, though because the penalty stacks it won't necessarily save her from every fall. Eventually the penalty will get so great that she'll be unable to pass the climb check at all, which is why I do actually have to keep rolling it out.

If that last roll I provided which came up a 16 with the penalties is enough to pass then she can stop rolling and no longer falls. If it's not, she'll have to roll again with a -6 penalty, then again at -8, then -10, until I hit a point I can't beat the DC, which means you can tell her to stop and I fall and get hurt a lot.


Okay. Thanks. The 16 passes and Lilika is halfway out of the pit. One more roll at normal odds, please!

Perfire's breath catches as Lilika begins to slip on the wall and let's out a long, relieved breath when he sees her latch back on to the side of the pit.

'Careful...' He repeats more softly.

After a moment she adds, "Or perhaps I was just an overconfident person."

She shrugs. Then follows Yirrik and looks at the door.

Gray webbing fills this chamber. Huge cocoons of spider silk hang suspended in the webs, and the webs crawl with countless hundreds of pale little spiders.

Perfire weaves his way between his taller friend's legs and floats a torch into the newly opened room. The torch stops dead in the room when it illuminates the webbing. 'Not again...' He whispers.

With an eerie rustling, hundreds of tiny spiders swarm out of the webbing and crawl towards you.

Okay, bit of a jerk move on my part, but even if you knew, your characters don't. Swarms of diminutive creatures are immune to weapon damage.

Each hero reacts in varying degrees of disgust and horror as the creeping mass of spider overwhelms them, crawling up their legs and bodies, biting as they go.

You didn't add the damage I healed onto the initiative order hp. I only have two damage right now. (I had five, then I healed four, and now I took one).

Lilika moves out of the way of the swarm Not sure where to move myself since the swarm didn't move on the map. But I move there! (I think I placed her appropriately).

Lilika thrusts her arms forward and magically launches a blast of acid at the spider swarm. Using her acid dart ability.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 - 4 = 5 Includes penalty for firing into melee and bonus for point blank shot.
