My character is(was) a gunmarshal of Alkenstar, so he would keep any flagrant criminality to a minimum (excepting, obviously, hard bitten gritty detective work that requires working outside the rules to get the job done). Bounty hunting or mercenary work he'd probably be ok with, as long as it was more the sort of heroes for hire arrangement.
He was also accidentally zapped off world in a mana storm, so his primary motivation would be trying to find his way home (while having adventures along the way).
I could definitely travel with an adventuring archeologist though.

Untill we get the custom spaceship rules most speculation about how to make the ship is somewhat idle. As I see it there are a few things that we would wish to get from a ship the problem is what priorities these things have.
These things are
1.Speed or the abilities of the ship to gets us where we want to be fast
2. Safety or how safe the ship can keep us from those who would do us harm this may come in the forum of superior weapon or shields. However this might also be achieved by superior sensors combined with the aforementioned speed.
3.Lastly is load with is the ships ability to carry stuff such as cargo and living space.
I personally would be in favor of a scientific vessel with superior sensors and speed.

Sadly true. When we finally do get a ship a could like one with a huge amount of computing power. I would love to link myself up with it (think of it as a headband of vast intelligence that is limited in location).
I find myself very interested in this game but I know very little about is so far. This there a book to read for the setting?

I have come up with a backstory that I rather like anyone like to help me refine it?
There once was a moon orbiting Jupiter called Nero. This moon was composed primarily of silicon. A Druid, wizard or alchemist or possible some other class that I am not aware of awakened the moon. This individual then tried to make Nero it's animal companion, familiar or phylactery or some other thing. Whatever and whoever it was the attempt failed and the backlash killed him/her. Nero then spent a long period of time thinking and improving it's self. After a long time it came to the conclusion that it had reached it's own limitation of self-improvement and would need outside simulas to further better itself. To this end it created me. Nero then told me to go forth and discover new knowledge and then return with what I had found. I did this going to many different places and returning with what I had learned. However one time when I returned Nero was not there. I do not know what happend to Nero all I found at it coordinates was a single page of the codex of infinite planes. Ever sense then I have searched far and wide for knowledge still. But now I look not for knowledge to bring to my old master but knowledge of him and of the codex of infinite planes.

I like the story. I just think it could use a bit more flavor. I'll put down some questions about Nero and your relationship with him (it?). Don't feel obligated to use all of these (or any really). But maybe one or two sparks an idea.
1) Who awakened Nero?
--A) Were they a good guy or a bad guy?
--B) How did that influence Nero's behavior?
2) How does Nero conduct his improvement?
--A) Does he follow the Prime Directive?
--B) Does he not care about possible effects he may have?
--C) Does he seek improvement at the expense of others?
3) Are you the only herald he made?
--A) If he made more, do you know that?
----I) If there are more and you know about them, how do you feel?
----II) Are you his favorite? Least favorite?
4) How do you feel about Nero?
--A) Do you like your job?
--B) Why are you trying to find him?
--C) How expendable are others when looking for Nero?
D.E.M. |
1) Don't know who did it Nero was not property awake back then. It is possible that Nero awakened by Nero's self (your puny Pronouns are too small for Nero). There a general tendency for intelligent creature to try and find first causes and why they came into existence and random chance is not very comforting. This is a piece of information I was sent to find out.
2)By knowing more and applying that knowledge to learn more. Last time I left Nero, Nero was building a telescope that would allow Nero to look at planets in fairly good detail from afar (I brought Nero the idea).
A)Nero never heard of it seems like an odd idea from another series
B)Not that much really
C) self improvement is important in the absolute sense not the propionate sense. So become more powerful is better than making other weaker. But the real goal is absolute and complete knowledge. We don't mind pirating knowledge.
3) Nero made other herald, but not many they are a rather big investment.
-A) I do know that but it tends not to be that important we a generally sent to different planets and don't return home that often or stay long so bumping into each other is kind of rare.
---1) I consider them all part of me and just as I am part of them. When ever we return we update Nero's knowledge and update own. We all pretty much share one mind. If I every met another herald we would both share memory in order to update each other. We are all one in Nero.
---2) Well I have been fairly successful I once brought back a tome of clear thoughts +5 this very much pleased Nero, but sense we are all one in a sense favorites does not come into it.
4) I think of Nero as part of me the larger part that I sometimes wish a could be with more often. However I know that my work make Nero even greater so I can hand tribulation.
-A) I find my work satisfying it is literally what I was made to do.
-B) Imagine that a large part of your mind went missing or was taken away form you. I suspect you would want it back.
-C) I am very practical.
I half considered building a cleric of Nero, but Androids don't make good clerics

Question.
I realise that where in the pathfinder setting, but with androids, energy weapons, spaceshipes, ect. I assume that technology if far more advanced than what one would normally find on golarion. However in the game what is the ratio to magic and science? Do most rely on science for everyday life, magic or some fusion of the two? Just trying to get a feel for everyday life IN SPAACE! and what I can expect.

The mighty space dragon descends upon the thread again!
Like I said before about the ship, whatever construction you prefer is fine, so long as the ship is at least 100'. It obviously has to have living quarters and storage for all the goodies you will acquire. Oh, and you won't have the ship immediately, but when you do get it, rest assured that it is fully customizable. You can upgrade it's storage capacity, choose its weapons, have a genetic research lab installed, implement a stealth field or hyperdrive, and a lot of other cool stuff. Still working on making the crunchy bits for this. Hard to put a credit price on the upgrades.
And yes, GP is replaced by credits officially. Much more convenient to have electronic currency rather than physical coins, because of the questions involved. Unless everyone is strongly opposed to the idea?
Lore seekers as a group goal sounds great. It makes my job super easy. Any thoughts as to your employer or are you freelancers? I am assuming freelancers, but I already have organizations set up the characters could be a part of, if that's what you want.
As for magic/technology levels, it will be around 50/50. Different worlds could have WAY different ratios than this, however.
Also, traits will likely be released tomorrow since we have a group goal. Anyone have an idea as to why the group banded together? Standard quest for wealth and knowledge type thing?
Nebari Freyr |
Working on background right now, one of the longest I've ever done needed to account for having my own race of people as a plugin hehe.
Credits sound perfect. Freelance for sure we can always barter for info from the pre-generated groups imo.
Edit
Forgot to answer the group question. Assuming I and at least the other 2 Ive been chatting with are in we all have similar backstroys of finding thing x. So common interest would be my vote on that topic.*
Nebari Freyr |
Be warned It's rather long and may contain a few errors.
The story of Nebari Freyr begins at a troubling time for his people, at just 13 years old Nebari and a group of his kind find themselves running from a band of rather unscrupulous folk hell bent on capturing him and his people. You see his race is very well known for their abilities as Psychics. It is for these abilities that this particular group happens to be seeking. Over the past several years his race has fallen victim to people just like this with his race either being killed for their psychic parts, namely their eyes and brain, or simply kidnapped and forced into servitude as slaves or concubines to produce offspring .
“You listen here Nebari and you remember this no matter what. You need to sleep now I want you to go with the other children Nebari. You’re the oldest and when you wake up it will be up to you to protect them understand? Good now go.”
In order to insure that their children were safe his people put him and the others into cryo-sleep, to awaken at a predetermined point. But of course these things never go as planned. Do they? After awakening he shields his eyes from the lights of a small vessel and finds himself facing a grotesquely offensive individual, and with none of his people to be seen, he fears for his life. “Hahaha. Wake up my little meal ticket it’s a almost time. Pretty soon you’re gonna make me very rich you know dat? Ah. That’s right ya can’t go damaging the goods. Here boy take these and keep dem little gems protected. ” Nebari is given a pair of sunglasses that shield his eyes from the burning light. “What happened?” Nebari demands “Where is my family? Where are the others?” The man responds with a throaty chuckle not unlike a toad. ” Boy you crack me up. You’ve been ina that little tank, floating around in the black, for nearly a century all your people are gone.”He laughs again” Except for you that is, and once I sell ya I’m a gonna be rich.”For a long moment Nebari Freyr is stunned unable to comprehend the implications of what the man has just said. You’re lying. It can’t be true I was supposed to protect them! he yells. It is true kiddo, but don’t worry you’ll be joining them soon enough.the man responds laughing once again. I won’t let you do this! I can’t be that last I’ll find them I will no matter what!” A deep rage fills his heart and soul and for a moment he almost gives in before he remembers the dangers of relying on ones emotions. So he steels himself and focuses his mind to its breaking point and finds a sea of lights within him, not unlike stars in the night sky. He draws upon the stars and focuses their energy at his would be captor firing a psychic bullet straight into the man’s head. He didn’t survive.
Nebari eventually escapes his bindings and accesses the ships records and finds that he has in fact been sleeping for nearly 100 years. With a new fire within him he vows to himself to find his people at any cost. He sets course to the nearest planet one called Castrovel where he disposes of the body and sells the ship. He spends the next several years practicing his mental and physical abilities and earing enough credits to scrape by, through any job he can find legal or otherwise. He has kept a low profile and his glasses disguise his unique eyes from the world around him and so far as served to keep him from slavery or a harvesting. He spends nearly all his free time researching his people’s history, for some reason he finds that he can’t remember much about them, such as the name of their homeland or it’s location. Unknown to him is that these memories have been locked away within his own mind as a safety measure by his own people.

Aballo seems like a good place what with all those ruins of ancient cities, but it's hot enough there it melt lead. We would need some protection (endure elements might be enough, but I can't cast it enough time so it will have to be later)
Castrovel is survivable, but It does not seem to have any ruins or such for us to explore.
Golarion: it would be a tad borring to start here, but maybe it is the most fleshed out world
Akiton: survivable, but once again don't see anything we want there.
Verces: survivable and fairly high tech, just don't think they have any just lying around for us to pick up.
Eox: no air
Triaxus: survivable, but don't see anything we want (I wish this wiki was more complete)
Liavara and it's moons: once again almost no information to draw us there. Well there are space whales might be a good starting ship.
Bretheda and it's moons: same as Liavara, but no space whales
Apostae: Now that seems like a good place to explore. Not quite sure how we get there however. Also it seems like a higher level game.
Aucturn: not survivable and nothing to draw us there.
In general the problem is that as level one characters we lack the resources to explore any of the interesting planets. Any ideas?
D.E.M. |
And yes, GP is replaced by credits officially. Much more convenient to have electronic currency rather than physical coins, because of the questions involved. Unless everyone is strongly opposed to the idea?
The problem is electronic money like credits is only any good if it's backed by something and sense their is not system spaning government or organization I fail to see how this could be the case.
It would make more sense to make jewels or energy the currency because both of those have intrinsic value because they power spells or technology therefor they should be good anywhere.
Rax Drann |
I think if we want to combined frontier justice and ruins exploration I think Castrovel is probably the place to start. A world covered in jungles and populated by city states seems tailor made for a group like this. DEM can hunt down some lost civilization whose ruins are being used as a base for bandits raiding the local orphanariums.
Rax Drann |
I haven't been there very long (depending on how we're qualifying long). I figure you guys could have been doin your explorating thing for a while, then you find this crazy guy talking about how he got zapped here in tornado and he's trying to find his way back home.
Also, I believe our dragony gm said the tread closes in 2 weeks, but that was at the beginning of the week so its more like 1 now I would imagine.
Divinitus |
Good to see most everyone is still eager!
Good point on the credits. GP will still be currency then.
Castrovel will be the starting planet.
As for the zero oxygen/extreme temperature worlds, you guys can buy environmental suits!
And the thread closes next Friday, because I'm running play tests with a gestalt character using you guys classes to make sure the first adventure is tailored to your characters. So just finalize whatever you need to and I'll try to answer any questions you have.
