The group find a ladder leading up to an iron walkway above and all climb out of the vats area. Along the walkway there are three doors leading inwards.

Whiskeyjack climbs the stairs with a heavy tread. When they get to the top, he looked at the doors and shrugged. "One be as good as another, hey?" Without waiting for a response, he slammed his metal-shod foot into the closest door to open it dwarven style.

Whiskeyjack's iron boot hammers the door and it goes flying inwards. A voice calls out from further down the walkway.

"What the hell is that racket?! BEAT WHOEVER IS MAKING THAT NOISE!" A snarling, somewhat inhuman voice calls out from the first door on the right.

Within the room Whiskeyjack has opened is a loading bay which large double doors which open into the air above the courtyard, where a crane is there for loading goods. Presently the room only have a few wooden cases in it.

Kawrock shouts back. "I am afraid the ones you wish to do the beating have in fact be beaten themselves. If you still wish to have us beaten you'll have to come and do it yourself."

Whiskeyjack looked sheepish. "Well, mebbe not as good as another." He shoved his way to the front of the line and applied his dwarven universal key once more.

Iozif turns to Lena: "I think I prefer your way. Much less unnecessary noise. But if this gets the job done..."

He gives a shrug and retrieves his wand from his coat pocket, hoping it'll be more useful this time.

"What are you talking abo--DWAH!"

Whiskeyjack's huge food boots one of the flimsy doors wide open.

As much an abattoir as a bedchamber, this room contains not only a four-poster bed, but also numerous workbenches and alchemical gear. The walls are lined with shelves and strange-looking objects in jars of liquid. Bits of rags litter the floor, and the air is heavy with the stench of spoiled food mixed with acrid chemicals. A ladder leads to a trapdoor in the ceiling.

Within the room is a foul-looking creature, filthy, reeking black rags wrap this small humanoid from head to toe, leaving only its hands and pale white nose visible. It stares at you in horror.

"Who are you? What are you doing in this place? YOu cannot seeee me!"

Snarling, it responds shockingly fast as Whiskeyjack boots open the door, and the area is plunged into darkness!

Initiative:

It then charges right for Whiskeyjack, trying to leap past the dwarf but just bounces into him!

Everyone is up! The room with who you presume to be Grine is dark so you'll need darkvision in order to see/hit him. Whiskeyjack gets an attack of opportunity.

Using Blessing of Fire. Should throw some light on the subject?

Iozif rifles through his bag and pulls out a small grey stone glowing with heatless light and holds it out. "Eldon, take this. It should help us all see what's going on."

Eldon takes the torch from Iozif. "Ah, an ioun torch! This takes me back to the time I was exploring pyramids in Osirion!"

He holds out the ioun torch to light the room, meanwhile telling the others about how his tour guide got lost in a pyramid they were visiting. "I told him not to worry, because there was of course no way I could get lost inside a pyramid. I then told to him that I'd been spreading breadcrumbs while we'd been walking, an old habit on mine when walking in places I'm not yet familiar with. Except for forests, of course. Everyone knows you should use pebbles instead of stones if you walk inside a forest you're not familiar with."

The torch nicely counters the darkness spell and the creature is revealed, hissing in the darkness. Lena manages to spot a hand around the corner, which is good enough for her to hammer it with a magic missile! Whiskeyjack also hammers it with his... hammer, almost knocking it flat.

"Damned dwarves!" it shrieks.

It turns around and swearing, bounds away from Whiskeyjack before racing up the ladder int he southeast corner of the room!

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

The weird dark-robed creature has fled up a ladder which leads 15' high up into the ceiling. Everyone is up!

Whiskeyjack swings at teh creature as it runs away, but the lithe creature easily avoided his blow. Racing after it, the dwarf puffed, "E's gettin' away!"

Okay, only Whiskeyjack is taking an action?

Whiskeyjack stumps forwards and clamps onto the ladder where he quickly starts trying to climb up. However, the incredible grace of the strange robed figure is not present in the dwarf, who makes it part of the way up.

The sounds of flapping come from up above, but nothing happens just yet.

Whiskeyjack continues to give chase, cursing as his feet slip through the ladder rungs and his beard tangles under his hands. At one point, his flaming axe burned away a finger-sized patch of red beard. The air was tainted by both the smell of burning hair and the sound of dwarven cursing.

Eldon quickly attaches the special torch to his backpack, then also chases after the man. "Hold it, you scoundrel!"

Iozif quickly moves up through the door to the foot of the ladder but sees there's little he can do from here. "We've got to stop him!" He shouts in Whiskey's general direction.

Whiskeyjack begins climbing up the ladder, followed by Arval. Eldon thanks to his small (yet mighty) stature gets on at the bottom. Iozif and Lena are forced to wait.

Kawrock bursts into a small tower room to spot the nasty robed figure grinning at him, and then three tiny leathery things with bone and metal jaws waiting just at the edge of the stairs!

Knowledge Arcana DC 17:

These appear to be a tiny kind of homunculi, miniature servants created by spellcasters from their own blood. They are constructs, and communicate telepathically. Constructs are immune to all abilities that affect constitution, and abilities which target the mind.

Kawrock may have some movement right. Map is updated, the top of the tower to the left. Ladder is 20' tall. The creatures are tiny-sized and so you can move into their space.

Was waiting on further moves from Kawrock since he's seen what's up there. I'll start things up again tomorrow morning.

Since the others are tiny and cannot yet reach Kawrock he will try to fly over the rag man. This will probably provoke and I'm not sure if he can acrobatics while flying. I'll do a roll anyway since Kawrock isn't restricted by armor right now.

The creature snarls as Kawrock flies up, and it swipes out at the raven, cutting Kawrock with his handaxe! A burning sensation spreads through Kawrock.

The tiny creatures all rise into the air and dive through the hole towards the helpless adventurers on the ladder. The small leathery creatures, upon closer inspection, have bear traps for jaws and they all attempt to fixate on Eldon, Arval, and Whiskeyjack!

Eldon and Whiskeyjack both feel sharp pain and a strange numbness spread through their bodies as the tiny winged creatures land on them and snap down with their brutalyl large jaws!

Finally, in the top, the robed creature snarls at Kawrock, swiping at the raven with his handaxe again.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Kawrock takes 13 damage. Eldon takes 7 damage, Whiskeyjack takes 5 damage. All three must make fortitude saves. If Eldon and Whiskeyjack fail their save they will fall asleep!

Current setup is Whiskeyjack is 15' above the ground, Arval is 10', Eldon is a mere 5' and can let go of the ladder and act as a free action if he so wishes. Iozif and Lena are waiting to get on the ladder.

Sorry. DC for the homonculus poison is 13.

Whiskeyjack feels the numbness spread through his body and his fingers go slack before he plummets from the ladder, falling past Arval and Eldon to crash on the ground! However, the poison only put him to sleep, and he finds himself knocked into consciousness as he hits the ground.

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Arval whips out his sword and swings awkwardly at the little flapping thing. However, it is too quick for him!

Poison: 1d2 ⇒ 2

Arval can attack from the ladder with a -2. Kawrock takes 2 strength damage. Whiskeyjack is awake but prone. However, Eldon and Arval must make DC 12 reflex saves or be knocked off of the ladder by Whiskeyjack! Whiskeyjack takes 5 falling damage regardless.

Whilst mid swing Arval suddenly hears a weird noise coming from above and is suddenly hit by Whiskey. He manages to grab on to the ladder and dodge the falling dwarf.

Eldon tries to resist the urge to sleep when sees Whiskey fall down. He quickly hangs to the left and avoids being dragged to the floor by his comrade, the adrenaline completely taking away the urge to sleep.

As he continues to run his mouth, Eldon takes out his rapier and tries to stab the creature on top of him. "You made a grave mistake attacking Eldon Appleton, even if he's on a ladder! I wrestled with wyverns twenty times your size when I was but a wee boy!"

Two magic missiles slam into the homounculus who bit Whiskeyjack, nearly blasting the construct apart. However, it somehow remains aloft, although it looks like a stiff breeze could knock it ove.r

Whipping out his own rapier, Eldon valiantly poinks a homunuculus, putting a nice hole in its wing.

Up above in the tower, Kawrock shifts back to his tengu form and faces off with the foul-looking robed creature.

Whiskeyjack still has an action!

Whiskeyjack pulls himself to his feet and shakes his head vigorously. He looked around for his hammer and retrieved it, muttering curses the whole time.

Whiskeyjack staggers to his feet and the homonculi continue their attack! The one who bit Whiskeyjack flies straight down at him, but as the tiny creature moves in the dwarf swats it out of the air, and it is blasted apart by the force of the swing!

One homonculus lands on Arval and begins gnawing at his armour while the other bites down on Eldon again! Upstairs, the robed figure steps back, snarling at Kawrock before it produces a potion from its robes and downs it in a gulp.

Lena responds by sending out a firebolt at the homonculus attacking Eldon, but the chaos of the combat forces her to miss!

Rolled Whiskeyjack's AoO to keep combat going. Eldon takes 4 damage and needs to make a fort save. Everyone is up! And homoncului are in melee, so -4 to ranged attacks.

Two magic missiles fly in and a nicely-placed strike from Arval bows up the homunculus trying to gnaw off his femur. All that remains is a little bear trap attached to his armoured leg. Upstairs, Kawrock produces some flame and it blasts into the rag man. He shrieks as his clothes start smouldering!

Whiskey and Eldon are up! The only homunculus left is the one attacking Eldon, 5' off the ground so in melee range for people on the ground. Still need that save from Eldon.

The dwarf moved in towards Eldon, hammer at the ready. "Hold yerself still, laddie, or this migh' hir' a bi'" Whiskeyjack grabbed the hammer with tight knuckles, and swung, the air parting with a whoosh.

Whiskeyjack's hammer swings mightily through the air, blasting apart the remaining homonuculus!

Upstairs, the robed figure, having been badly wounded by Kawrock, turns, and opens a window before climbing out! With its hands sticking to the wall like suction cups, it scampers out.

The robed figure has escaped out of the north window of the tower! Everyone is up! I've added the bottom floor with the tower map overlaid so you can get an idea of where he's climbing out.

Unable to see up the tower, and with the others still blocking his path up the ladder, Iozif stashes his wand and calls out to Kawrock.

"That's the last of them. How are you faring up there my feathered friend?"
