.

Sorry! Your GM is now back and operating at full capacity.

The group girds their loins, preparing for trouble as they stare up at the factory. The only obvious entrance is a gateway into a courtyard.

A twenty-foot-high stone wall, topped with broken glass, surrounds a small courtyard before the workshop. A heavy oak gate bars entry beneath a sign proudly proclaiming “Vorkstag and Grine, Chymic Works.” A bell hangs by one side of the gate.

Arval tries the gate, but finds it locked. The rest of the group listens, and everybody hears the sound of a chain rattling along the ground behind the gate. The gate suddenly shudders as something slams into it.

Arval looks back at the others with big round eyes.
"That... wasn't me..."
He whispers to the others.
"Now what?
Let us create a space here at least so that whatever is trying to get out doesn't slam us with the doors."

He moves away from the door looking scared.

Whiskeyjack raises his hammer and shield at the sound, wondering if this is another haunt come to bar their path. He spoke loudly, "'Ere now! I'll say everyone backed up from the gate.

Vladlena's handy magic causes the gate's massive bolt to click open, and the gate hangs freely. It swings open to reveal a courtyard with an iron-wheeled cart, and a door to the north.

However, more alarmingly, there is a strange dog made out of stitched-together meat! It wears a muzzle and leaps at the group, but it is chained up, and stops short of the chain, unable to exit the yard. Making no noises aside from movement, it lunges at the group again and again and again.

Eldon nods when Whiskeyjack asks about the creature. "Very perceptive, my friend. It is indeed a golem. A flesh golem, to be precise."

"Let me try a trick I learned on one of my journeys to the Mwangi Expanse. It may have no effect, but I'm curious to see if it could work on this creature." Eldon takes a small bell from his backpack and holds it out in front of him.

"We can either slip past it or get into flanking position while the trick works, but put those weapons away. Just temporarily. This doesn't work when your weapons are out."

"Here doggie, look at the bell," he says as he tries to draw the flesh golem's attention to the object. "Look at the bell, doggie. Yes, good doggie."

As soon as everyone's put away their weapons, Eldon tries to use his bardic performance to fascinate the flesh golem dog. He continues to talk to the dog as he holds the bell in front of him. "Good doggie, nice doggie. You like this bell, don't you? Look at it. Just keep looking at it. You can't have it, but you can stare at it. Endlessly. It's a pretty bell, isn't it? Good doggie, be quiet yes?"

Fascinate is an enchantment (compulsion), mind-affecting ability. Will save DC 15 to negate the effect.

Kawrock takes advantage of the opening Eldon gives him slicing the thing with his blade.

.

Iozif loads a crossbow bolt and then slips, almost shooting his foot. Kawrock is more fortunate as his sword slams down, penetrating the unbelievably tough flesh of the golem hound and slicing off a tasty chunk of shoulder. However, he can't eat now, there's a battle going on!

Round Three:

Whiskeyjack (15 damage)
Iozif
Lena
Eldon
Kawrock

Whiskeyjack lined up another blow, and let fly. His hammer struck true, though the extra-hard bones and flesh of the golem caused his hand to sting with the effort. Gripping his shield hand tightly, he let a trickle of Angradd's healing power slip into his body to ease his wounds.
