Vladlena |
Lena scrambles onto the shore, then turnd to face the foe.
Then she turns to face the spooks.
eat fire spooky!
firebolt: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
GM SpiderBeard |
Whoops, Lena is right. Eldon, I've moved you to shore and you will have to start inspire courage next turn since it would only come out as 'blub' otherwise. Also, surprise round. You can't move and attack, Lena.
Whiskeyjack scrambles onto the shore. Lena gets ready to cast a fireball, and the strange slime creatures float towards the group and attack. Despite their ghastly, glistening slime, they don't really manage to hurt anyone.
Attack vs Kawrock: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Attack vs Lena: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Attack vs Arval: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Everyone can go!
Arval Beyondane |
Arval swings wide at the green thing.
Power Atk roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Dmg roll: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
He grins wildly when the sword connects.
Eldon Appleton |
Despite what one may expect, Eldon's huge ego doesn't allow him to stay afloat. So when Eldon realizes he's about to drown by talking underwater, he moves to shore.
Eldon starts his story again once on the shore. "Where was I? Ah, yes! Slimy mongooses, it was..."
Inspire courage: +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.
Whiskeyjack Dunaldthal |
"Lena, Eldon, back up so's I ken be gettin' a whack a' i'." Whiskeyjack grips his hammer tightly and prepares to attack the nearest creature when it comes close.
Ready to strike when something comes close. attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14, for damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
GM SpiderBeard |
Arval swings his sword out viciously, and the slimy spirit falls apart into a puddle of goo that plunges into the waters.
Lena sends out a firebolt of her own to the spirit to the south, which explodes into nothingness!
Rustom and Kawrock are up, and two of the baddies are down. Using Lena's action from last round. Whiskeyjack can re-do his action since the spirit near him is dead.
Kawrock of the Phoenix Clan |
"Get away from me slime ball, slimy things are not tasty...except for worms."' Kawrock swings his blade trying to keep the slimy thing away from him.
Melee: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
GM SpiderBeard |
With a vicious swipe of his sword, Kawrock turns the final spirit into a splat of ectoplasm as it plummets into the depths below.
End of Combat
DING! Welcome to level three!
Vladlena |
Woo hoo!
GM SpiderBeard |
The last ectoplasm creature sinks into the dank pool as the group takes a moment to reflect on their accomplishments thus far. That done, there is a passage leading west as the only visible exit.
Whiskeyjack Dunaldthal |
"Suppose we best be headin' out now. Seein' as how you lot got t' have all th' fun this time around."
Whiskeyjack grabbed his shield more tightly and pushed his way towards the front, as they all headed towards the western opening. He was spoiling for a fight, and had no intention of letting the others do all of the fun stuff.
Eldon Appleton |
"Well that went quick," Eldon comments.
"Please give me a moment, I have to tie my shoe laces."
Vladlena |
you might want to dry your socks
Lena murmurs a spell and starts drying herself.
that water is quite...bad
Arval Beyondane |
Arval looks down at his feet and shrugs.
"Have been sweating all day already, socks didn't get much wetter in the water."
He walks over to a dry spot and rummages through his backpack.
"I have some rations still, we might sit down to have some lunch. Then your socks can dry and maybe Eldon could finish tying his shoelaces in the meanwhile."
He pulls out enough rations for everyone to eat a decent lunch.
Vladlena |
I could use a little, if you don't mind.
Lena gestures to some partly heal wounds. these are a bit painful
Whiskeyjack Dunaldthal |
"Sorry, little one. No idea ye be needin' some healin. Wait jest a sec now." Whiskyjack pulled one of the healing wands from his pack and began tapping Lena until the halfling's wounds were mended and she had a smile back on her face.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
1 should do it!
GM SpiderBeard |
After healing and rinsing out their socks, the group heads westwards towards a massive chamber.
Four dark hallways exit from this large empty chamber, each striking out in one of the four directions of the compass, and each decorated with a soot-caked brass nameplate affixed to the ceiling just above the entrance. A rubble-choked stairway leads up in the middle of the room, while twelve skeletons dressed in scorched prisoners’ robes lie on the ground.
Map has been updated.
Whiskeyjack Dunaldthal |
Whiskeyjack stared around the room, focusing first on the skeletons, and then on the doorways and associated nameplates. "D' ye think these be wakin' t' play with us? An' wha's with th' nameplates? Ken anyone be readin' them?"
Eldon Appleton |
Updated!
"Let me try," Eldon says and walk up to the name plates.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
After studying the name plates Eldon will tell what the written text means, provided he can read it. Otherwise he'll cough and mutter something about "Bad handwriting..."
Eldon then takes a look around, to see if there's anything else in this area that catches his attention.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Arval Beyondane |
Arval follows the group and as soon as they enter the big room he says.
"I think we're getting close to the criminals. Maybe we should switch to the special weapons?"
He peers around the room to see what's around them.
"See anything? I can't see a thing in here!"
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Thank god it's now and not during a fight xD
GM SpiderBeard |
The nameplate says "HELL'S BASEMENT". As Eldon tries to make out the lettering, a loud clattering of bones startles the party. All around them, skeletons begin to pull themselves together. Bones fly across the ground, joining up with the still bodies. A full twelve of the undead monstrosities rise to their feet, and lunge to attack!
Arval: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Rustom: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Skeletons 5-8: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Skeletons 9-12: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Four of the skeletons are on their feet instantly, and charge for Kawrock and Arval! Kawrock catches a particularly nasty slash from one of them.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Whew. Rustom, Eldon, Kawrock, and Arval can all go! Skeletons are numbered because some of the colours are indistinct. Of course, I had a duplicate, so skeleton 10 is clearly marked. There's a guide on the right in case you need to know which is which.

Nice burning hands.
A huge gout of flames flies from Kawrock's outspread hands, destroying the three skeletons in front of him immediately! Rustom swings down with his mighty axe, but the unnervingly fast skeleton manages to dodge the swing.
Eldon Appleton |
Eldon draws his crossbow, and starts another tall tale: "All of these skeletons remind me of one of my many other epic adventures. This particular adventure also happens to involve a rubber duck..."
+1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.

Using dazzling display and power attack. Demoralize information
Edit:
I will only attack.
I misread it then =_= I read it as you do an attack with demoralize...
Kawrock of the Phoenix Clan |
Dazzling display is a separate full round action that does not leave actions for an attack in the same round. You are basically doing what the scimitar guy does in Raiders of the Lost Ark before Indy shoots him.
GM SpiderBeard |
Arval slams down with his weapon, which largely bounces off of the offending skeleton though still manages to do some damage. The remaining skeletons rush in eerily fast, slashing with their long, nasty nails. Lena is nearly overwhelmed by skeletons, but the nimble halfling manages to dodge all of their attacks.

"'Ere now, lay off th' little one!" Whiskeyjack roared as he raised his warhammer to smash down the nearest skeleton.

Dedicating Saving Shield to Lena.
If Lena steps backwards, Whiskeyjack will take her place as his movement action
GM SpiderBeard |
Whiskeyjack's hammer comes down mightily, and the offending skeleton collapses in a pile of bones.
Vladlena |
Lena sees the huge pile of skeletons before her, and starts to weave as she casts a spell

With purple dead, everyone else can go! So Rustom, Eldon, Kawrock, and ARval are up.
Kawrock of the Phoenix Clan |
Kawrock steps forward and swings his bastard sword then follows up with a jab of his beak.
Sword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Beak: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10

Arval Beyondane |
Arval takes another swing at the skeleton above him.
"Keep that up Lena!"
Pwr Atk roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Dmg roll: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Eldon Appleton |
Eldon hopes the skeleton attacked by Arval won't stand after the hit, and moves 5 feet north. His mouth continues to spout nonsense while he releases a crossbow bolt at the blue skeleton.
Bolt, PBS: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10 Damage, PBS: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
After shooting the bolt Eldon directly reloads his crossbow.
GM SpiderBeard |
Arval and Rustom both easily dispatch the skeletons in front of them as Kawrock bobs and weaves, trying to land a blow but to little avail. Eldon's crossbow bolt flies straight through the blue skeleton's ribcage!
The remaining skeletons mindlessly close in, slashing viciously. One claw hooks into Lena's collarbone, lifting the halfling from the ground before slamming her back down where she ceases to move. Eldon manages to dodge the worst of it.
Attack vs Lena: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Attack vs Lena: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Crit vs Lena: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Lena takes 11 damage and is at 0 and disabled according to her hp total. Whiskeyjack and Lena can take round 2 actions, the rest their round 3 actions! So everyone is up.

"Get Lena up and safe!!"
Pwr Atk roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Dmg roll: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Vladlena |
ouch, that hurt.
she will scurry (crawl) five feet in round two, and get up.
thanks guys
GM SpiderBeard |
Lena was hit when she had 19AC because I'm illiterate. Lena only took 5 damage, apologies for that!
Eldon Appleton |
I'm using Inspire Courage, but even I forget to include it in my rolls -_-
Eldon continues to babble nonsense. "So he reached out and told me to hand over the rubber duck. Which I, of course, did not agree to do."
He takes anotehr step back, and releases a bolt at the nearest skeleton.
Bolt, Inspire Courage, PBS: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 20 Damage, Inspire Courage, PBS: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4
Eldon then quickly reloads his crossbow.
Kawrock of the Phoenix Clan |
Seeing Lena is ok Kawrock steps over and attacks the next skeleton in range.
