Round 1, Init 15

Thinking quickly, Wren takes a greasy pelican's feather from her 'armor', enchants it with arcane magic and tosses it at the feet of the giant. She hopes the small pit created will cause the giant to slip and fall. Casting Stumble Gap (DC 19 Reflex) or take 1d6 ⇒ 5 damage and go prone.

Wren then floats out of sight, so that no rocks find her 'beautiful' skin.

Can't move on map now, but will tomorrow morning.

Lack of posts on my part was due to waiting for the group since we just got going again. One a day posts does not mean everyone posts on consecutive days. Botting Eldon and Kawrock.

Knowledge Local DC 19:

She appears to be a marsh giant, hateful thugs bound together by common zealotry. They possess some simple spells but no particular vulnerabilities or resistances. Some marsh giants mingle with abominations from the deepest seas, creatures they believe are sent by their god. This has further contributed to their racial degradation, but the immediate offspring of these unholy unions are powerful. Deformed with tentacles, scales, and other aquatic traits, these marsh giants are known as “brineborn.” - This appears to be a brineborn giant.

The group moves into position as Lena fires off two scorching rays, one of which manages to solidly hit the giant.

Eldon begins babbling as he begins his raging song, while Kawrock moves with Whiskeyjack and Arval, taking up a defensive position.

The giant looks at her rock, and shrugs, tossing it over he shoulder. She then chants a spell, and the area is blanketed in an incredibly thick fog!

That should work, Kawrock, but why on 6d6 and 30'? Should be 8d6 and 40', maybe? Or more? I dunno.

"Hold still ye deformed whelp o' a unholy union o' mountain and she'goat! This willnae be hurtin' ye fer long if'n ye stop yer struggles. Attack an innocent group o' travelers will ye?"

Whiskeyjack continued to smash at the giant through the fog.

Wren continues to listen to the carnage in the mist from a safe distance.

"What do you think is going on in there? Might be they should come out here so we can help?"

Wren delays, wishing she had magics to help with this.

"I don't know, but it'd indeed be better if they'd just relocate here."

Eldon unties his shoelaces and ties them again, whistling an improvised tune.

Arval lets out a deranged scream and just begins slashing at everything that moves. To the great relief of everyone, the only thing he can actually see in the cloud is the giant, whose leg he cuts off before he repeatedly stabs her until the madness clears. Along with the fog. She's dead.

End of Combat

With the fog gone, you can get a good look at the chamber.

A vast chamber occupies the space below the mansion’s cracked dome. Sweeping stone stairways, their wooden railings long since rotted away, climb to a balcony overlooking the room below. From the center of the floor rises a rough, flat stone with scorch marks on its center, large enough to be a table. More surprising are the columns that support the dome high above. Rather than the finished pillars one would expect in such a stately chamber, seven massive stones stand along the walls instead, crudely chiseled and set on end in a rough circle. It appears that the lords of Undiomede did not just place their seat at an age-old sacred site, but built their house upon the ancient stone menhirs of the druid ring itself.

The giantess is wearing a large, fishgold armband engraved with eels entwined around humanoid figures. It looks valuable - she has nothing else of interest on her unless someone is into giant rock and boulder collection.

You can either take the stairs up, or investigate the rooms on the east wing of the house.

"Hey look at that, the giant is already dead. What was Arval even doing in there?" Wren squawks curiously. "Well, let's take a look around."

Wren casts Detect Magic and inspects the giant's loot and the surrounding area.

"Shall we continue now?" Wren waits for Arval to be healed before pushing on.

Whiskeyjack wiped away the blood and sweat that had splashed onto his face from his and Arval's combined efforts and glared at teh elf. "Already dead? Aye an' mebbe ye think she jest fell down an' cut 'er own leg off while th' lad an' I were playin' tiddlywinks? Crazy elf! Make yerself useful and find somethin'"

Whiskeyjack shook his head, beard wagging, and began inspecting the menhirs around them. He shook his head again, this time at the unimaginable gall someone had of constructing this house on a druid's ring. Whiskeyjack held no truck withteh folk of the woods, but this seemed to be going a little too far.

Then, he moved off towards the east rooms, motioning for Arval to come with him.

Eldon gets up and rejoins his allies inside.

"I knew you could do it!" he says as he joins Whiskeyjack and Arval. "I'm proud of you! You've just defeated your first foe without me."

Nothing magical. The armband is probably worth around 500 gold.

Do you want to go into the room with boarded windows, or south into the dining room and so forth?

Arval slumps to the ground and drops his shield and sword, exhausted.
"I think the thing put a spell on me... Can't remember a thing that just happened."
He takes a long moment to collect himself before sheathing his sword and picking up his shield again.
"Could someone poke me with one of those healing sticks?"

"Aye lad. Ye did well, fightin' off tha' spell. Ain't ever'one tat can do aught bu' attack their friends or sit their gibberin'. Funny word, tha', gibber? I wonder wher i' is they speak it. Maybe the land o' th' gibbers? Be' th' elf came from there."

Whiskeyjack muttered a few more imprecations abotu the elf as he puleld out his healing wand and tapped Arval a few times.

"Looks like tha's done ye. Now, how abou' we pick a door an' knock i' down?"
