Leveling questions:
So I want to build a +2 intelligence enhancement bonus into my mask via the pseudo-Craft Wondrous Items ability Orthrus has with my mask. Now it already has abilities so it will cost 150% of the usual cost, but I need to know two things.

One, technically the Headband slot (the place for headbands of vast intelligence +2) is different than the Head slot normally used for masks. And two, technically there is no slot assigned to the fetish mask in the written rules as written, but I assume Orthrus could not wear a helm of brilliance, or a skinsaw mask while wearing his fetish mask.

So one I want to know if you will allow me to shift slots and two exactly what slot you want the mask to fill. There are rules reasons for why the slots are the way they are, but I'm willing to go with the mask covering both slots (head and headband) if you want.

Mostly this whole thing is for style reasons.

Sorry, my city got a bunch of snow and we had guests over, so I just saw this.

So, I see two ways of doing this. One: you have it just cover the head slot and it costs 150% of the usual costs, plus another 150% for a non-slotted item.

Two: you have the mask count as both head and headband slot and we don't increase the cost for being two items or slotted, since you're spending two item slots on it. Most of the balance re:two abilities in one, and alternate slot items have to do with losing the ability to fill that slot with something else. Like, in this case, not being able to get a second headband of a different sort.

I'm leaning toward two, because it most replicates the "normal" balance, is more favorable to you, and provides the least amount of headache. If you strongly prefer one, then go ahead.

Then he adds the functionality of a hat of disguise (1,350 gp).
It requires Disguise Self which is also not on the witch spell list, so he buys a CL 1 scroll (25 gp).

Craft Alcemical Items Tch-yeah right! Have you seen those rules? On average it would take him three days to make most alchemical items with a DC of 20-25. I might save up feat space for Master Alchemist at 9th level, but we'll see, Craft Pointy Magic Stick seems more useful. For now he buys what he needs, and then repackages it to make it look like he made it. ;)

Odds and Ends He buys 4 more days of trail rations (2 gp), two coils of silk rope (20 gp), and an extra waterskin (1 gp).

That comes to about 9,950 gp in total costs and about 22 days of time. It leaves him with 312 gp and 9 sp. He keeps an eye out for items that he thinks they will need but doesn't see anyone else purchasing. The goal is to prove indispensable so that at 10th level when he picks up the Cook People Hex no one blinks. -Hey, I thought we had a drow prisoner? ~We did, for lunch. or -How's the prisoner? ~Delicious. ;)

Next time, I'm just going to let Rilia invest in a lot of disguise skill ranks, and see if I can't get a handlebar mustache for her icon.

As an Aside:
In-game, you don't have the much time to craft before you're being kicked out the door by Kwava (probably a day or two, as news of world-shattering drow development is pretty urgent). Out-of-game, go ahead and put in your upgrades because I want everyone to have level-appropriate gear.

----------
Often awarded to members of the Order of the Tome, this satchel contains enough room to hold a single tome of no more than 1,000 pages and no larger than 12 by 18 inches in size. Prior to using the satchel, its bearer must place a blank book in the satchel and utter a command word. This blank book is sequestered in an extradimensional space accessible only upon command. (A typical blank, 50-page journal costs 10 gp.)

Once per day, when another book, folio, scroll, or other text is placed within the satchel while a blank book is hidden within the extradimensional space, the pages of the newly added book are wiped blank (though the covers and bindings remain unchanged). The entire contents of this book or scroll appear on the pages of the blank book in the satchel’s extradimensional pocket. The transfer takes 1 full round, and if the process is interrupted, such as by either book being removed or the satchel being significantly damaged, the text being copied is lost forever. Works for me! I like fast paced games, so I'm always eager to move ahead, but the pacing is fine. :)

I'm good. Pacing (like body language) is tough to manage over a messageboard, as there is no set game time where everyone just drops everything, and concentrates on playing the game. Under those circumstances it's difficult to manage things like tension, drama, surprise, and role-playing, because things move in fits and starts. It might take a week to handle a single combat, and another to decide to open the possibly trapped door. At the same time you might blow right past the denouement in a single post. I personally hate botting characters when I GM, though I certainly understand that it happens, and with good reason. Still, it always leaves me feeling like I'm the only one at the game table. That, and the fact that all the other participants are invisible doesn't help.

But so far, so good for me.

Sorry, got the flu. I realize now that you're probably waiting on me to tell you exactly what to do in Celwynvian(try typing that 5x without looking...)

Because I don't to delay things, I'm going to copy-paste the details from the book, and then in-character, you can tell me where you want to go.

Adventuring in Celwynvian

The following guidelines are presented to help track the ongoing battle for Celwynvian. Since the PCs’ involvement primarily revolves around a number of specific encounters and not with the actual mass battle between large numbers of elves and drow, it’s important to work larger battlefield events and flavor in seamlessly with other random encounters and occurrences. In addition, while the battle continues to rage, certain elements make adventuring in the ruins even more dangerous than normal.

Movement: Although the roads shown on the map are relatively clear, the underbrush has tangled all the other areas, making them difficult to traverse and halving normal movement rates (save for characters like druids who can pass through undergrowth with ease). This is especially true of the areas containing ruins. Moving through a square that contains ruins reduces movement rates to 1/3 normal.

Recovery: The elves have many healers among their ranks, mostly low-level rangers, clerics, and bards armed with wands of cure light wounds and potions of lesser restoration. If the PCs wish to take advantage of these services at the elven base camp, they can have all of their wounds and ability damage healed after a short visit to the infirmary in the base camp—there’s no need to track charges or roll for healing if they do. Just say a few minutes pass and they get patched up swiftly. Ability drain, negative levels, diseases, blindness, and other more lasting effects cannot be cured quite so quickly. Each day, the base camp has 1d6 uses of dispel magic, remove blindness/ deafness, remove curse, remove paralysis, and remove disease (all at CL 5th) and 1d3 uses of restoration (at CL 7th) available for the PCs to take advantage of; once one of these resources is used up, it doesn’t replenish until the next day.

Resting: The battle for Celwynvian takes many days, with the elves pressing the advantage against the drow during the day and the drow pushing back at night—both forces are often forced to retreat to safety to rest and recover, but the actual skirmishing continues unabated during all hours of the day and night. The PCs will undoubtedly need to rest, recover from wounds, and resupply during this adventure, likely after each of their missions. The encounters presented here do not follow a set timeline, so you can allow the PCs to recover as needed to ensure they are up to the challenge. Feel free to push them, however, to the limits of what they can accomplish. If the PCs elect to hunker down in the city itself to rest, there’s a 20% chance every 2 hours of an encounter—if they retreat to the elven base camp just in the city’s periphery, though, they’ll be able to rest without fear of interruption. In any event, excessive resting can impact their overall victory—each time the PCs rest more than once in a 24 hour period, they loose 2 Battle Points (see page 19).

Random Encounters: The city is full of drow and elves fighting for every foot of ground. To help simulate this, check for a random encounter each time the PCs move through the ruined city from one location to another, with the chance of an encounter occurring at a rate of 30%. Likewise, if the PCs seek out a building to explore that’s not otherwise detailed in this adventure or the gazetteer
of Celwynvian that begins on page 48, there’s a 30% chance the building houses a random encounter. A list of random encounters for Celwynvian during the battle appears at the start of this volume’s Bestiary on page 81. If an encounter doesn’t occur, roll instead for a random event. As always, feel free to force or ignore encounters as best fits the flow and need for your game.

I will be probably doing fewer random encounters, fyi. I'll probably only roll if the chance is higher than 50%.

The most natural "next step" is to investigate the library.

He doesn't believe in 'game balance'. Gandalf always lets him pass. As a feat, he has Exotic Weapon Proficiency (beard). The city guard often question him, just because they find him so interesting. His dice bag is woven from tarrasque leather. His TPKs end game lines. His blood cures moderate wounds. He once punched a flumph. Yes, you heard me. He belongs to a prestige class whose sole requirement for entry is just being him. ♬ He is indeed, the most interesting GM in the world. ♬

Anyway, waiting on Tamiro before I start rolling their opposed perception checks and determining if combat breaks out. Who knows, maybe they'll have the same luck as you!

That's the newest quest series, right? I've not played it yet myself; is it good? So far the only quest series I've played is Phantom Phenomena which was lots of fun.
